• Protect Auto No-Fault Insurance in Michigan
Our family was involved in an auto accident over 5 years ago and are still dealing with the ramifications of this life altering event. Their proposed legislation would force: *Drivers to have to purchase MORE insurance to protect themselves from underinsured drivers *Seriously injured drivers will be FORCED onto welfare programs to pay for their care once their auto insurance hits the proposed cap limits , costing taxpayers tens of millions of dollars each year. Who is actually saving money from this proposed legislation? Auto Insurance companies; not US, the customers.

  • No Zohydro
I was addicted to pain pills for 5 years after a horrific car accident. I have been sober for about 2 years, but have a cousin fighting for his life in a hospital because of addiction to opioids and a friend who recently overdosed and left two daughters behind. We need to come together and stop this horrible epidemic.

  • Gov. Martinez, Save rail service to New Mexico
Northern New Mexico and Albuquerque desperately need this vital rail artery. Not only Amtrak service will be lost to this entire area without it, but also any chance of other rail-dependent businesses which could revitalize our area's economy. Two other states have ponyed up to save the line, but the chance will be lost if Gov. Martinez drops the ball and vetos the New Mexico contribution.

Mr. Kenny is a highly respected, imposing role model to all students at Carey. His absence in the building will undoubtably put our school in jeopardy of losing the integrity that he has unquestionably help build and maintain . I urge you to ask your children of their view of Mr. Kenny and what impact his absence would have on them. WE RESPECTFULLY IMPLORE THE SEWHANAKA BOARD OF ED TO RECONSIDER THIS DAMAGING ACTION.

  • Reinstate Artwork Censored by Kennesaw State University President
Dear President Daniel Papp, As members of the metro Atlanta art community, we are dismayed and disappointed by the decision of Kennesaw State University President Daniel Papp to remove a commissioned artwork by Ruth Stanford from the inaugural exhibition of the university’s new Zuckerman Museum of Art, opening this evening, March 1 (VIP reception at 5:00 p.m., public opening at 6:30). KSU is a state public institution with an educational mission that should promote dialogue about history and difficult subjects, not squelch First Amendment rights and artistic expression. Stanford’s work eloquently and tactfully addresses a contentious time in Georgia’s history and KSU’s controversial acquisition of property once owned by author and lynching apologist Corra Harris. In her installation, Stanford explores the complexity of Harris’s views and literary works, which are both “poetic and beautiful,” as Stanford says, and a reflection of the time in which she lived. The “celebratory” opening that President Papp purports to be protecting has already been ruined by his very action, which undermines the autonomy and curatorial integrity of the museum staff. We respectfully request that the Zuckerman Museum be allowed to reinstall Stanford’s artwork and that President Papp issue an apology to the artist and art community.

  • Rep. Rigell: Stop Blocking an increase in the Minimum Wage.
People I encounter on a daily basis are working two jobs just to get by on poverty wages. Increasing the minimum wage would help thousands of workers pay their bill and feed their families. Rep. Rigell should do the right thing and side with working people over big corporations.

  • Their Deaths Mattered, Enforce FDAAA as Written
In 2007, thousands and thousands of pets died due to contaminated vegetable protein ingredients imported from China. At the time, Congress realized the seriousness of the recall – and realized the very same reckless contamination could happen to any food (human or animal) unless foods and ingredients of food were clearly defined including a quality standard. Example: the wheat gluten imported from China that resulted in the 2007 pet food recall met the legal definition of the ingredient. But there was no legal/regulatory quality standard of wheat gluten to specifically state it can not contain melamine or other toxic ingredients. FDAAA specifically included 'standards' to protect consumers. Pet food trade groups are trying to influence members of Congress to change FDAAA - removing the very wording (standards) that can help assure consumers another 2007 disaster won't happen. Don't allow pet food/animal feed industry trade groups to remove the pet food ingredient quality standard requirement of FDAAA. The Congressional requirement of FDAAA was to be completed by September 2009. Our pets paid the highest price for these laws, don't allow the unscrupulous actions of industry trade groups to delay this any longer.

  • LF Addington Middle School, Wise VA: Protect Our Children
On February 27, 2014, my ten year old son, Michael brought a book home from school, entitled, "Addie On The Inside" by James Howe. The book deals with the subject of homosexuality, and is offensive to the faith and belief of our family. My son Michael felt very uncomfortable having to read this book, as did I. Please sign this petition if you do not agree with fifth graders being exposed to such books., especially when the Bible is not allowed in the library. Thank you.

  • Rep. Fitzpatrick: Support fair wages for workers
People who work full time should not have to struggle and juggle with their meager paychecks to pay normal living expenses. It is time to turn around the recent trend of more and more people sinking into poverty, and the rich getting richer.
