We all should have the same voting rights!

Over the past four decades legislators locally and nationally have voted too often to burden middle class and under-privileged Americans with the responsibility of supporting bloated government. Creating a playing field that will guard against favoritism is the hallmark of democracy.

Some Republicans are looking to kill any chances of this bill even coming up for debate. The best way to prevent that is to get as much visible support early on. Already, there are nine co-sponsors of this bill—four Republicans and five Democrats. But Rep. Walz isn't one of them.

I am presenting this petition because the VRA is an essential element to civil rights legislation that Congress has shown in large progression. As an American in a democracy, voting right should not have unnecessary restrictions.

54 years ago, I held a picket sign asking for the right to vote.because of our success, I went from 2/5 of man to a whole man with the right to vote. I beg everyone, who consider themselves a whole man/women to join the movement.

The current Voting Rights Act being debated in Congress allows states to brake the law five times within 15 years before pre-approval is mandated. It also leaves in place the abusive voting intimidation and suppression laws that many states have passed since 2010. It excludes voter id requirements from the "5 strikes and you are out" rule. Congress can do better! Representative Shuster can make the necessary changes now!
