becuase it bs when people are trying to go to work and better them selves and their lives and they loose a job offer becuase of a peace of paper? some people received felonies they didn't even commit but got stuck with them due to lack of funds for a real lawyer public defenders work for the state and right beside the prosecutor they are not really there to help you just placed there to keep you in the system if you cannot afford an attorny one will be appointed for you and then you still have to pay even tho you couldnt afford one to begin with

I'm signing this petition because the Postal Service has and can again be a services paid for by it's customers organization rather than a drain on taxpayer funds. The pre funding of retiree benefits is simply a means toward two ends. 1. Congress "borrowing" (steeling is more like it) money wherever it can like it did with Social Security. 2. Create an artificial failure so as to say "see, government is incapable of doing anything right and we should therefore "PRIVATIZE" mail service." Who will protect the sanctity and security the mail from theft and fraud? The companies that make billions at the citizen's expense? The Post Office Department (1792-1971) was created as one of the few government agencies explicitly authorized by the United States Constitution. The Postal Reorganization Act birthed the United States Postal Service on August 12, 1970. It replaced the cabinet-level Post Office Department on July 1, 1971. To enable the Post Office Department to serve all Americans, no matter how remote, yet still finance its operations largely from its revenue, Congress gave the Department a monopoly over the carriage of letter-mail by a group of federal laws known as the Private Express Statutes. Without such protection, Congress reckoned that private companies would siphon off high-profit delivery routes, leaving only money-losing routes to the Department, which then would be forced to rely on tax-payers to continue operations.

Hundreds of Colorado families are abused daily by a broken and corrupt legal bureaucracy know as "Family Law". Through the issuance of unequal parenting time to fit parents, extortion and involuntary servitude, individuals are striped of their individual rights to parent their children, make decisions regarding their children and utilize their property (income) as they see appropriate. Colorado "Family Court" lacks any presence of Due Process and severely violates individually protected rights. To protect the integrity of the Hall of Fame. He violated the game of football for profit. Took advantage of a franchise. He got his money but he sacrificed his integrity.

Prisoners are still people who need rehabilitation. They still have family's and loved ones. These visits help them while in prison and unite them with there family. They deserve these to grow with life outside of prison so they come home a better person and ready for life again outside of those bars. Completely taking them away will take away something that keeps the prisoners on a good track and keeps them close with there families

The "growth" in the economy has only benefited those on Wall Street. The job market is still stagnant and now millions of Americans, including me, have had their lifeline cut off while they still seek employment. Homelessness is now a real possibility for many middle-class Americans who have no more options.

Don't kid yourself that we live in a democracy when it takes 60 votes to pass legislation by Senators who only represent corporate America. Should senators in North Dakota with a population less than San Francisco have more clout per capita than senators in California? Both political parties are to blame for the dysfunction and gridlock in the Senate. They believe in “rule by the minority,” not in real democracy, otherwise they would rid the Senate of the filibuster to pass legislation and to nominate Supreme Court candidates. To abolish the Senate, the reactionary House, gerrymandered by the Koch brothers, has to be restructured more like a parliament while still retaining independent judiciary and executive branches. Our Constitution is not sacred. It supported slavery. To abolish the Senate will take a mass movement like the civil rights movement. It will take amendments to the Constitution proposed by 2/3 of the states holding state conventions to require Congress to hold a National Convention. This path has never been taken before. It will take 3/4 of the states to hold ratifying conventions, which has only been done once before to abolish prohibition. I live in a city that lacks the resources to send police to homes that are being burglarized. I live in a country that rather spend money on guns than books. We need to focus on establishing democracy in America.

Since 2010 the U.S. along with eleven other Pacific Rim countries have been negotiating in secret a trade agreement with lobbyists representing over five hundred multi-national corporations. This trade agreement will fundamentally compromise our country’s ability to protect consumer rights, worker’s rights, the environment and the power of local communities to implement laws and regulations that are in their best interest. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is nothing more than a blatant attempt to allow multi-national corporations to deregulate themselves in manner which would not be possible using normal legislative processes. Simply put, the U.S. is bargaining away its very sovereignty. To ensure passage of the trade agreement the Obama Administration wants to use the “Fast Track” legislative procedure which requires an up-or-down vote in the Senate with no amendments and with only twenty hours of debate allowed; this, on a trade agreement which will consist of tens of thousands of pages. And Congress is being told to vote to “Fast Track” the trade agreement before they even know what is in it. This lack of transparency and the undermining of our democracy is an outrage and must not stand. Over 150 Democratic Representatives, including eight from Illinois, have signed the Delauro letter to the President stating that they will not support using “Fast Track” on this trade agreement. The Trans-Pacific Partnership is too important to be rushed through the Senate. Fast tract has to be prevented to allow the American public to see what this trade agreement is really all about.

The FDA does not require the labeling of GMO (genetically modified) food products, leaving consumers in the dark about the ingredients in their food. Without knowing, consumers in Texas and across the country regularly consume food that contains GMOs. Most of the food available on store shelves today contains GMOs—and they’re not without risk. For one thing, studies suggest that genetically modified crops require a dramatic increase in the use of pesticides and herbicides, which have been linked to serious health impacts. In addition, there may be other serious dangers, but we just don’t know - there is very little independent research done on the health implications of GMO consumption because the seeds are patented and the companies that own them prohibit their cultivation for research purposes. It’s time that we label all foods that contain GMOs so that consumers can make informed choices. However, some big food manufacturers, along with chemical companies like Monsanto, are spending millions of dollars to oppose labeling. Consumers overwhelmingly want to know what they’re eating, and grocery stores are beginning to heed the call – just last year, Whole Foods committed to labeling. Now, we’re calling on Randalls to side with its customers and label its brands too.
