• End The Prefunding Of Retiree Benefits In USPS
My neighbor recently retired from the postal service and alerted me to this problem. Further research confirms that the postal service has been under attack by those with an agenda that intends to privatize our public services. The Post Office is already a cross between an agency and a business and is capable of self-funding through its business operations without taxpayer dollars. This service should be honored and nurtured, not bullied into unsustainable "prefunding" of its retirement program for the next 75 years over the next 10 years.

  • Ban Duck Hunting in Upper Narragansett Bay, RI
Gunshots starting in early morning and lasting all daylight hours are bothering thousands of residents for the sport of a few duck hunters. The gunshots are loud and start very early in the morning even on weekends and last all day long. Dogs and children are frightened by the gunshots and adults are bothered by the frequent loud noise and the thought that there could be a hunting accident right in someone's back yard. Duck hunters create a noticeable amount of plastic trash from spent cartridges which fall into the water. This plastic washes ashore onto our beaches in large quantities. I remember one walk I took last year where about every 10 feet i picked up a cartridge. I had a bag full in 15 minutes. The hunters are hunting primarily Scaup ducks who's numbers are in decline since the 1980's. However, the noise alone is reason enough to ban the practice since it has no benefits for the surrounding local communities. Please sign and spread the word!

  • Protect Our Parks
Our County Parks are owned by the public, not corporations. In order to preserve the clean air and water in and surrounding our parks, we must be steadfast in not allowing fracking, or any other form of industrialization, to take place in these areas.

  • Give Medicaid The Ability To Negotiate prescription Drug Prices
The pharmaceutical industry is the only beneficiary of Medicaid's inability to negotiate for prescription drugs. This part of the law feeds corporate greed, and does not serve Medicaid recipients.

  • Don't let Congress scuttle Iran diplomacy
We should all be concerned about the attempt to pass measures which could skuttle diplomatic negotiations with Iran and bring us closer to another disasterous Middle East war. Senate bill 1881 violates the recent US agreement with Iran, and pledges support for Israel if it attacks. The house will consider unrealistic demands which will also destroy the very negotiations that could provide real nuclear security. Let our congress members know that we want them to support diplomacy and prevent another costly war.
