Stop "Leave Sexy at Home"!Why it's problematic: It objectifies and sexualizes young women. It promotes the idea that a woman's body is inherently sexual, and that it is her job to cover it up to avoid provocation or suffer the consequences. It instills a harmful mindset that "boys will be boys", and are not responsible for their own actions. This mentality feeds into rape culture, giving way to victim blaming. The code is heteronormative, and disproportionately will harm LGBTQ+ students for not conforming to its standards. From the students: 1) As a student who has been told by a teacher that I was "trying too hard to get a boyfriend" because of my outfit, I am appalled by not only the idea that every action by my gender is catered to the desires of a man, but also by the culture of self hatred and blame that this terminology creates. (Hillary) 2) At an assembly, an assistant principal posed this question to us, “How are boys supposed to learn when their classmates are sexier than their teachers?” To this I ask firstly, why is every action taken by someone who is not male catered to what will please a male? And secondly, if this logic is true, why are LGBTQ women's quality of education not hampered by the way other girls dress? Why are LGBTQ men not overly distracted to the point of academic failure by boys wearing tanktops, shorts, or football leotards? (Maddy) 3) This culture of persecution of LGBTQ/gay students at Churchill HAS to stop. The internalization of my own desire to be feminine (and perhaps wear a dress) which was enflamed by administrative policy eventually led me to have panic attacks and a hospitalization later in life. (Mario) Please sign this petition so our school will hear our voices, and work with us to make our learning environment safer.465 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Hillary

Mr. Marchionne: Tear Down That (ethanol blend) Wall! Both air pollution and GHG are increasing, and gasoline use is the chief reason in the US. We have a low cost, cleaner alternative, ethanol, that is being hindered by auto companies reluctance to manufacture new vehicles that can use E-15 (hence increasing our use of ethanol by 50%). This important step forward needs public support and public outcry, especially as we are now beginning to make ethanol from wastes.189 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Robert Falco

Add Minimum Standards of Care to the Anti-Soring BillHorses are not covered by any standards of care for animals considered to be companion animals. They fall under the livestock designation. As such state laws and law makers hesitate to open this discussion on minimum standards of care for horses lest that open the door to all animal related farming practices. This is the opportunity to insure that states have a standard set of care guidelines for horse so abuse and neglect can be easily identified on the state and local level. Read California's minimum standards of care here: http://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/ceh/docs/special/pubs-StandardsMOD2.pdf.339 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Nicole Walukewicz

Keep Our Service Dogs at LVEMy children attend Liberty View Elementary School which is about to lose the privilege of having Service Dogs. I am starting this petition because I believe the Service Dogs we have had the opportunity to share our school with are an important part of the educational experience our children have at Liberty View Elementary. I think removing these dogs from our school will have a negative impact on our children. I believe these dogs provide the kids with a sense of warmth which enhances their learning experience.531 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Terri Hatch

Boycott The Dallas CowboysAfter The Dallas Cowboys finished their third straight 8-8 season under head coach Jason Garrett, Jerry Jones has made it clear that he intends to retain Garrett and that he has no plans of ever stepping down from his General Manager position. He has made comments about how the team is putting on a "great show" with losses such as those to the Packers this season and that with the stadium in his back pocket, he has nothing to be ashamed of. He's also stated that he has done his best work as a General Manager the last few years. As true fans of The Cowboys who are proud of our winning tradition, this is unacceptable. The past few seasons have been characterized by one word: incompetence. We have an incompetent coaching staff and an incompetent General Manager. There is now a need to clean house from top to bottom and that starts at the top. We are unwilling to simply wait for Jerry to die. We demand that Jerry step aside and hire a real General Manager who is given complete control. We are out coached and out managed and this must end. Until such time as Jerry steps down, we pledge to keep every single dollar we have from ever winding up in the pocket of Jerry Jones. Recently, KTCK radio host Bob Sturm said it best, "The only person who can fix the real problems with The Cowboys is the only person who doesn't think The Cowboys have any real problems." We sign this petition to let Jerry Jones know that we disagree.101 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Brian Milner

Oust AramarkI do not believe human beings should be subjected to this type of treatment. They are incarcerated, for whatever reason, and are dependent upon their jailers to provide them food; Instead, they are given inadequate food that is not fit for human consumption.68 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Joyce S Adams

Get Big Money Out of Nebraska ElectionsWhen the Supreme Court ruled in "Citizens United v FEC", they opened the door to a torrent of corporate and special interest election spending. The Court’s decision allowed the creation of Super PACs, which became a vehicle for flooding elections with unlimited and sometimes untraceable money. As a result, in the 2012 presidential election, just 32 mega-donors -- giving an average of $9.9 million each -- were able to match the total giving of the Obama and Romney campaigns’ 3.7 million small donors. "Citizens United" handed a megaphone to a wealthy few, threatening to drown out the voices of everyday citizens. In Nebraska, federal campaign spending rose 56% between 2008 and 2012. Outside spending in Nebraska's 2012 U.S. Senate race exceeded $9 million, with 44.4% of that spending coming from undisclosed or only partially disclosed sources. Sixteen states and more than 500 municipalities have already passed local resolutions calling on Congress to pass a constitutional amendment that would overturn "Citizens United" and clarify that money does not equal speech. We have an opportunity to make Nebraska the 17th state to pass a resolution before the legislative session ends in March. It’s time for Nebraska to join the movement to protect our democracy.778 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Andre Delattre
