• 48 Million Uninsured vs. 4 Million with Improved Coverage?
It is easy to frame any issue to suit one's own agenda. The right wing of this country has framed Obamacare as a government take-over and a fiscally irresponsible action rather than as a modest proposal to help with our nation's health care crisis. The US spends more than two-and-a-half times more on health care per person than most other developed nations in the world. Obamacare is a modest and fiscally responsible step in the right direction of reducing those costs.

  • Give families the chance to be home for the holidays -- confirm Watt
We came to this country to better our lives, to get a piece of the American Dream and have a good place to raise our kids. Now Freddie Mac wants to kick us out, even though we are offering to buy our foreclosed home back for the current value. They just don't seem to care about families like ours -- it’s time for a new regulator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- it’s time for the Senate to confirm Rep. Mel Watt as the new Federal Housing Finance Agency Director!

  • YOU CAN HELP DIPLOMACY WORK
The U.S. is trying to leave the Middle East. Iran is working towards a peaceful solution. Cantor seems to want conflict in the Middle East and, more importantly, here in the U.S.

  • Diplomacy, not bombs
Because I'm sick and tired of these blatantly treasonous politicians serving their own interests by working for the Military Industrial complex, at the expense of American and human interests.

  • IRAN - NEGOTIATE, NOT WAR
We have already created enough enemies in the Middle East with our ill-advised drone policy. Negotiation and diplomacy is the only way to achieve true and lasting success. A normalization of the U.S. relationship with Iran should bring about greater stability in this war torn region and provide a better chance for a long lasting peace. Iran does not want war. Our goals should be a balance of power and stability. Once relations are normalized, increased economic activity will further solidify our position and give the U.S. greater strength in the Middle East.

Over my six years as a student in GISD, I've noticed the lack of student influence and involvement in the decisions made about their educations. I urge you to allow these students to be apart of the decision-making process for the district.

  • House Republicans to torpedo President Obama's Iran agreement
Because House Republicans want to torpedo President Obama's Iran agreement with a hawkish move by Eric Cantor. I do not want to see us drawn into war by resentment within the ranks to make Obama look bad. The collateral damage is our democracy.

  • Satanists Seek to Set the Standard With Statue
I have always been proud that my roots started in Oklahoma. Many Oklahomans were elated last year when the Ten Commandment Monument was placed on the Capitol grounds, thanks to Rep. Mike Ritze, R-Broken Arrow. Just like the push to take prayer out of schools in 1962, we can not afford to allow Satanist Lucien Greaves (of New York) to come to Oklahoma to "pay homage to Satan". We can not stand by idly. Unlike 1962, there is no excuse in letting your voice be heard. I was just a twinkle in my father's eye in 1962; however, I promised that if I ever had a chance to make a difference when it came to protecting American values, that I would. This is not a religious opinion or view; however, it is an American one. We have an obligation to revoke this movement by the Satanist as provided in our pledge of allegiance. In his own words, Greaves states, "We believe that all monuments should be in good taste and consistent with community standards," Greaves wrote in letter to state officials. "Our proposed monument, as an homage to the historic/literary Satan, will certainly abide by these guidelines." Greaves said one potential design involves a pentagram, a satanic symbol; while another is meant to be an interactive display for children. He said he expects the monument, if approved by Oklahoma officials, would cost about $20,000. Let's show him that regardless of your religious opinion, that no one believes any statute honoring Satan would be considered "in good taste" in the Sooner state. This is a tool set for leverage and precedence. If this action is not taken NOW to fight this statue, the other 49 states of the union will all be subject to this nonsense as well. Let's show them what we stand for in Oklahoma. As our pledge of allegiance states, "...one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Let's not be divided (indivisible) on this matter!

  • Avoid shopping on Thanksgiving Day
The trend of retailers opening earlier and earlier on Thanksgiving Day and cutting into American families spending time together on this traditional holiday is a concern. The force of commerce taking priority and preying on workers affects families across the nation. We would like to reclaim the Thanksgiving holiday as one for families and encourage consumers to resist the merchant's desire to lengthen the retail season traditionally held before Christmas. With extended shopping hours already in place, this exerts increased stress on workers who cannot afford to take time off. We further feel that the shopping is for non-essential goods and can be delayed 24 hours without significant damage to either the economy or individual businesses. Thank you for supporting our petition and rejecting this trend.
