Congressional Hearing for Bhutanese AmericansHi, As the first pilot from Lhotsampa people of Bhutan, I was initially a beneficiary of the Royal Government of Bhutan (RGOB). Soon, however, I became a victim of and witness to the government’s systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing against the ethnic Nepali speaking citizens known as Lhotsampas. Today, after 23 years of statelessness and dispersion, 100 thousand innocent victims are still denied truth and justice. It is heartbreaking that many resettled Bhutanese are committing suicide at an alarming rate (it is highest in America compared to any ethnic group). I believe it is my moral duty to tell the untold stories on behalf of 70 thousand Bhutanese Americans and seek to bring a closure of this great tragedy ever experienced by Lhotsampa people of Bhutan so that healing process can begin. Bhutan's Gross National Happiness (GNH) is too good a concept to be used as PR campaign by the government to cover up the atrocities carried out unto its own people; GNH must be spread for the good of the world based on the foundation of truth. Therefore, I need your help. That's why I created a petition to The United States House of Representatives, which says: "Listen to the untold stories of Lhotsampa people of Bhutan being resettled in America and urge the Bhutanese government to include the remaining Lhotsampas in Bhutan's quest for Gross National Happiness. " Will you sign my petition? Click here to add your name: http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/congressional-hearing?source=c.fwd&r_by=9545016 Thanks! Veteran's Medical CareThis petition is regarding adequate medical care and basic human kindness of veterans from the D.C. Veterans Administration Medical Center. I am a veteran whose care has been both disregarded and disrespected. There are many others afraid to come forward but I will take however many hits for the team to bring awareness and change. I have had to date, over 20 brain aneurysms, some bleeding, numerous brain surgeries, clips, clamps, and both sides of my brain vessels reinforced. I suffer from complicated migraines, seizures, diabetes, PTSD and depression. The Neurologists at the DCVAMC have missed EVERY aneurysm. They've all been found by emergency care of nearby hospitals, regardless to my pleads for help. I now have an inoperable brain aneurysm, as well as additional pain, and they are refusing to give actual medications needed to alleviate my pain. I have a bad liver. They prefer to increase the meds I'm already on (which don't work# and cause my liver to work additionally hard rather than alleviate my excruciating pain. I'm denied access to the Director of the hospital because he has "open dates" to walk-in but I live two hours away and during most of the dates I'm hospitalized. Patient advocate has been virtually kicked out of the neurology clinic trying to help me. I was also discharged for a short time from the Neurology Clinic three days after a brain procedure at Walter Reed. The clinicians tried to cover it up, but the same info. was given to said Advocate. I've been discharged from the pain clinic due to failure to complete it. I didn't complete it due to hospitalizations. I've been black balled basically from the DCVAMC and can no longer listen to the many veterans speak of atrocities #medical# toward them. I can also no longer suffer more so than not writhing in pain and these people try to sweep me under the rug. Writing this petition will sure enough, hinder my care even further. I know the stress of it all has awakened every iniquity within my very spirit. I've even had to contact the Vet Hotline to retain sanity. I can't do this alone. Will you help. I could be you or any member of your family. We must make them accountable for their actions towards every veteran mistreated. We must also make President Obama, Congress, Regional Officers of Veteran's Administration, and any family member aware of this sublevel medical treatment and lack of basic human kindness.77 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dina Dent

Shut Down Planet RockBy federal law, sex trafficking is illegal. However, what most people don't know is that strip clubs are classified as sex trafficking industries according to "The Polaris Project." Personal testimonies have made me aware that Planet Rock has not only employed minors, it has also prostituted some of its workers. I want to make a difference in the families of this community by shutting down Planet Rock and offering better opportunities for the women of Barre that are being wounded by this corrupt business.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Meredith Dunavant

Rep. Roskam: Don't Cut Meals for KidsThis holiday season, 2 million people in Illinois, including 886,000 children, will have less to eat because of recent cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (food stamps). Now, some in Congress want to cut another $40 billion from an effective anti-hunger program that helps families put food on the table. We need to act quickly so that Rep. Roskam understands that taking food from kids and other vulnerable populations is just wrong.455 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Ryan Canney, Illinois Fair Share

Congress and Senate represent us for once.I'm tired of our elected officials not looking out for the American interest but the Israeli regime over and over again when it comes to Middle East policies. When you commit us to war its our fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and grand kids that pay the price. This needs to stop as Americans are wakening up to this. No sanctions or war with Iran.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Johnny Matos

Gov. Herbert: Expand Medicaid for Un- and Underinsured Working UtahnsI am self-employed and have had health issues. I know what it's like to forego medical help because I don't have adequate insurance. My experience gives me compassion for those in greater need. Gov. Herbert, you said the cost of expanding Medicaid in Utah is "a wash." At no cost to Utah, Medicaid can be expanded to the 123,000 in need. If you don't accept the $440 million earmarked to Utah for Medicaid expansion, the money will be distributed among neighboring states. Republican governors from New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada have already chosen to expand Medicaid in their states. This humanitarian action will cost Utah taxpayers NOTHING through 2017. Thereafter, the federal government will always reimburse 90% or more of the cost. If you fear the federal government won't continue to pay for expanded Medicaid, add a 'opt out' language to your bill. It's simple and the choice is clear: give needed medical coverage to 123,000 Utahns at no cost to Utah or send our share of the money to other states. Thank you for listening and I sincerely ask that you expand Medicaid coverage as soon as possible.273 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Lisa Paterson
