Proect Proposition A Land in LA County!I'm starting this petition because, several years ago a natural gas project began in Prop A territory near Whittier. As a condition of becoming Prop A land in 1992, the City of Whittier promised to keep the preserve in perpetuity. Allowing a natural gas project violates the laws set forth in 1992, and could set a dangerous precedence for all the 21,000 acres of open in LA County. Allowing the project to continue here in Whittier could mean all Prop A land could suffer a similar fate. Please sign this petition to let your elected representatives know you would like to keep open space as open space and not land for development!16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David

Mayor Caldwell: KEEP OUR LGBTQ COMMUNITY SAFE!We, the people of Hawai'i, have followed the events of the State Legislature's Special Session Marriage Equality this fall with deep interest. This petition addresses acts of discrimination and hate perpetrated during the session, notably including the testimony given by Honolulu Police Officer Tenari Ma'afala on Nov. 5, 2013 and other acts of verbal and physical hostility against supporters of Marriage Equality. Officer Ma'afala is a public figure, as the union president of SHOPO (State of Hawai'i Organization of Police Officers) and a pastor of New Hope Church. Here is his testimony on Youtube.com: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaAkQZ5DnZ0 We, the supporters of Marriage Equality, witnessed Officer Ma'afala's testimony, in which he stated his opposition to LGBTQ rights was so strong that he would become a "lawbreaker" with the passage of SB1 (the Marriage Equality bill, which has since been signed into law and took effect Dec. 2, 2013). We also witnessed incidents by opponents and their children during the hearings that were dangerous and filled with hate, including physical confrontations and verbal assaults. Will those incidents continue and escalate? If so, can the community have confidence that the Honolulu Police Department will adminster justice fairly and compassionately? We, the people, demand that Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell and the Honolulu Police Commission REQUIRE DIVERSITY TRAINING for all police officers. WHY are we demanding Diversity Training? Members of the LGBTQ community and their allies, following the reprehensible behavior of some opposition members and the provocative testimony of Officer Ma'afala, feel strongly that their personal safety is endangered and could be left unprotected by those whose job it is to protect. As president of SHOPO, officer Ma'afala, through his presence at the Special Session and angry words in support of discrimination, may have signaled that other Honolulu police officers should also be "lawbreakers" and turn a blind eye toward crimes committed against LGBTQ community members and supporters of equality. We would like to believe the lofty Mission Statement of the Honolulu Police Department (http://honolulupd.org/department/) quoted below will be respected and upheld. Diversity Training will help to ensure that it is. MISSION STATEMENT We, the men and women of the Honolulu Police Department, are dedicated to providing excellent service through partnerships that build trust, reduce crime, create a safe environment, and enhance the quality of life in our community. We are committed to these principles: INTEGRITY We have integrity. We adhere to the highest moral and ethical standards. We are honest and sincere in dealing with each other and the community. We have the courage to uphold these principles and are proud that they guide us in all we do. RESPECT We show respect. We recognize the value of our unique cultural diversity and treat all people with kindness, tolerance, and dignity. We cherish and protect the rights, liberties, and freedoms of all as granted by the constitutions and laws of the United States and the State of Hawaii. FAIRNESS We act with fairness. Objective, impartial decisions and policies are the foundation of our interactions. We are consistent in our treatment of all persons. Our actions are tempered with reason and equity. ...in the spirit of aloha.286 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Joyce Charles

Save Our Locally Owned/Community Boost Mobile StoreBecause my business has been slated for termination by Sprint for a misunderstanding or an alleged misapplication of rules for operating promotional opportunities. This termination is being done without any consideration for allowing us to know the full particulars concerning the closure and without being able to defend ourselves. This will dramatically impact the livelihood of the employees of 4 Real Wireless and effectively close two thriving and successful retail stores in a part of Omaha that has seen far too many businesses come and go. This needs to be stopped.72 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Eric Stevens

Citizens Against McCalla Apartments Case #1327Due to recent crime, continuing criminal activity, current road infrastructure's inability to handle additional residential traffic, inability of all three already overcrowded McAdory schools to handle the extra influx of students, concern for our children and our property values in the McCalla area, we, the citizens of McCalla are opposed to any apartment complex being built in our immediate zoning area.1,201 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Karen McKee

Mandatory Privacy Settings for Minors on Social MediaAccording to Social Media Today over 5 million Facebook users are under the age of ten. We are looking to protect minors using social media platforms who are easily influenced by advertisers and not cognitively developed yet. Social media publicity can be dangerous for children by sharing information and photos without the child realizing the implications. Many parents are unaware of their child's online activities that could put them in potential danger. We want to change the environment so that it is safer for our children.107 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Lexi Sheehy

Congress: Pass H.R. 2902, the Supreme Court Ethics Act of 2013Dear Members of US Congress, We the people of the United States, in order to make the courts more fair and to establish judicial accountability ask you to Pass H.R. 2902, the Supreme Court Ethics Act of 2013. The time has come to stop bias and partisanship in the US Supreme Court. It is a great privilege to be a Justice of the US Supreme Court. That role comes with tremendous responsibility to be fair, unbiased and not driven by a special interest -- either religious or political. Supreme Court justices must adhere to the highest ethical standards and conduct. Such a standard enforces public confidence in the highest court's fairness, and it demonstrates the absence of any bias or prejudice. If justices of the Supreme Court cannot hold themselves to such standards, how can they require other justices and judges of the lower courts to adhere to them? Recently, several justices of the Supreme Court exhibited flagrant disregard for conflict of interest, legal ethics and standards of conduct they should not tolerate from lower court judges. The time has come to profess that all judges are created equal and have to be subject to the same Code of Conduct and Rules of Ethics. The US Judiciary is as any other branch of the government, accountable to the Citizens of the United States of America and not to any personal, religious or political beliefs. It is time for US Congress to accept this self-evident truth and make it a law. We need to stop abuse of the Code of Conduct by the Justices of the Supreme Court and require them not to represent the interest of the richest 1 percent or 5 percent of the population or corporations, but of all citizens of this great country. We the People demand from the members of the US Congress to pass this Bill that currently has only 11% chance of getting past committee and 2% chance of being enacted - (see https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/hr2902). We, who signed this petition, will not rest until the Congress will enact this important legislation into the law.166 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Administrator
