Impeach Boehner, Cantor, Cruz and Tea Party Republicans in the HouseThe purpose of this petition is to communicate to the United States House of Representatives that we, the undersigned, are American citizens who want to impeach and remove from office Representives John Boehner, Eric Cantor and other Tea Party Republicans, and Senator Ted Cruz, for abuse of power. Abuse of power is cited in the U.S. Constitution as an impeachable offense. These individuals forced the shutdown of the Federal Government contrary to the will of the majority of the members of the House, the U.S. Senate, and the American people. This shutdown is harming the American people. Background: In order to block the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, a law which was passed in 2010 and subsequently upheld by the United States Supreme Court, the above-named individuals recklessly conspired to force the shutdown of the Federal Government. This shutdown is causing financial, physical and emotional distress and ruin to many thousands of American citizens, including but not limited to: military veterans, hundreds of thousands of Federal employees and contractors who have been furloughed and/or are working without pay, providers of essential services, families and children, the elderly, and countless others. The government shutdown has brought uncertainty to the nation's and the world's financial markets, and may result in creating another recession in the United States of America and the entire world. Additionally, Representatives Boehner, Cantor, and some others in the United States House of Representatives rigged the rules so that only they or their designees can bring the government shutdown matter to a vote in the House of Representatives. These individuals have refused to bring the matter to a vote. Their abuse of power, their reckless and irresponsible actions are causing great harm to the American people and the world; therefore, we petition that Boehner, Cantor, Cruz and others be impeached and removed from office.182 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Elizabeth Rosenberg

New ScenesI can't remember the last time I went to or enjoyed the movie theatre in Madison. The theatre is mostly flawed in appearence; sticky floors, ripped screens, no doors on the bathrooms, filthy seats ect. There are other ways that the theatre is flawed such as the fact that the heater is too loud and you can't always enjoy the movie. Not only do I believe that the update would create a cleaner, more family friendly theatre. I feel as if it would also bring in more business and profit.166 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Carli

Hold Judge Judy accountable for the remarks that she made about lupus on "The Kelly File" on Fox ...I suffer from lupus and I know many others who have lupus as well. Lupus is very difficult to manage due to it's unpredictable nature and it can progress rather quickly. Lupus is incurable and it can result in multiple organ failure. It is often accompanied by other diseases and it is all too often fatal. Lupus kills. Lupus cripples. Lupus robs those who have it of a "normal life". Lupus doesn't just affect those who have it. It hurts our families, too. Lupus is a devastating disease. Progress in treating lupus has been a slow process and there is still much to learn about the disease. Judge Judy's dismissive and flippant remarks were not only insensitive and ill-informed but also very unproductive and discriminatory. She made comments that compared lupus to other unrelated illnesses and she made comments about her daughter in law being able to work even though she has lupus. Her comments do not reflect the reality that so many people with lupus experience and reflects her lack of knowledge about the disease. It's for those reasons that I believe that she should publicly apologize for her remarks with regard to lupus.4,284 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Janet Mainville

Stop the Fast Food SwindleA report came out October 15 showing that 52% of fast food employees’ families are forced to rely on social safety net programs, like Food Stamps or Medicaid, because we’re paid so little. And it costs taxpayers an unthinkable $7 BILLION each year. That means your household forks over about $61 a year so that McDonald’s can rake in $5.5 billion and pay their CEO millions. We don’t want to rely on public assistance -- we would much rather receive an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s (hard!) work. But we have kids to feed, families to support and have no other choice. It’s not okay. And I hope you’ll help us change it today. Tell the top eight fast food chains to pay us $15 an hour so we don’t have to rely on social safety net programs50,330 of 75,000 SignaturesCreated by Nancy Salgado, Low Pay Is Not Ok

UN Security Council: Eliminate WMDs!Syria's chemical weapons are being dismantled because 1,400 civilians were poisoned and the world was rightly outraged. We must not wait for another weapon of mass destruction to be unleashed upon the world -- where deaths could number not in hundreds but in hundreds of thousands -- before we act with the same urgency. What was accomplished in Syria can and must be repeated, not just with chemical weapons, but with all WMDs: chemical, biological and nuclear. Because that is the world we want, and we know it can be done.101 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Global Zero

"Shut Down" Funding For Operation Streamline in ArizonaOperation Streamline is a controversial DHS immigration enforcement policy, heavily lobbied for by Corrections Corporation of America and other private, for profit prison corporations, that diverts crucial law enforcement resources away from fighting violent crime along the border, fails to effectively reduce undocumented immigration, and in many cases violates the U.S. Constitution. Under normal circumstances, non criminal migrants caught illegally crossing the U.S. border are immediately deported and face a five year ban from reentering the country, with criminal penalties occurring if they are caught crossing a second time. However, under Operation Streamline, such detainees face mandatory criminal prosecution, with penalties ranging from a few days to several months in private, for profit, corporate run prisons, at taxpayer expense. In Arizona, those convicted are housed at Florence Correctional Center, a Corrections Corporation of America facility. CCA has heavily lobbied for enforcement of Operation Streamline and similar manadatory imprisonment immigration laws, and has a particularly dubius reputation in our state, helping to write the controversial "Show Me Your Papers" law SB1070 and contributing millions to the campaign coffers of Governer Jan Brewer and other Arizona lawmakers. CCA has already earned billions of dollars in taxpayer funds as a result of this progam and stands to reap billions more. Meanwhile, the numbers show that Operation Streamline DOES NOT effectively reduce undocumented immigration, and the "fast tracking" of criminal convictions in these cases may very often violate the Constitutional due process rights of detainees. The program has led to skyrocketing federal immigration caseloads in the Arizona and forces border patrol agents to spend significant time and resources apprehending non-violent migrants when they should be keeping our border safe from violent criminals and drug trafficking. At a time when the government is in shut down mode, and funds for essential services are being frozen or cut, we cannot afford to spend taxpayer dollars on a program that criminalizes not violent offenders, makes our borders LESS safe and increases the costs of illegal immigration. This is why I created a petition to Janet Napolitano, Department of Homeland Security Secretary, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and 3 others titled ""Shut Down" Funding For Operation Streamline in Arizona". Tell DHS Secretary Jan Brewer and the U.S. Department of Justice to shut down Operation Streamline and focus on policies that benefit border communities instead of corporate coffers. No Northern Route of the ATC Badger Coulee linePetition to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin regarding American Transmission Company application5-CE-142 (Active) and their proposal to Construct and Operate a New 345 kV Transmission Line from the La Crosse area, in La Crosse County to the Greater Madison area in Dane County, Wisconsin. The project is Referred to as the Badger Coulee Project. In signing this petition I hereby request the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to drop the proposed "Northern Route" of the ATC proposed Badger Coulee Line, that would adversely and negatively affect the Town of Holland. This would be the second time in the past 3 years that a power line would run through our beautiful community, and it is not needed and not wanted. We do not deserve to become a grid for power line companies to route their power East. By signing this petition, we fully support the attached comprehensive letter of opposition that the Town of Holland Citizens Energy Committee is submitting to the power line companies and to the PSC.124 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Bill Faschingbauer

Home Depot: Stop Stocking the Coffers of Republican ExtremistsWe know by now the GOP loves to stall. They continue to keep the government shut, separate immigrant families, and hold our economy hostage for their own political gain – and companies like Home Depot continue to line the pockets of these same Republican leaders. Last year alone, Home Depot PAC gave more than 1.2 million dollars to GOP extremists. Frank Blake and his corporate PAC continue to fund John Boehner, Eric Cantor and GOP leadership while our families suffer. Tell Home Depot PAC to STOP bankrolling elected officials who refuse to lead. It’s time that Home Depot stop assisting the GOP in political pandering while taking advantage of families.5,671 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Zack Langway

Pass the Paycheck Fairness ActThis bill is important because it will not allow employers to limit wage rates based on sex. Employers will only be able to decide wage rates based on education, training, and experience. This bill will also prohibit employer retaliation to employee complaints, meaning, an employer will not be able to make wage cuts to an employee because of another employee complaint. This is an important bill for woman's rights and if passed will greatly impact the future of woman in the workplace.39 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lauren Kirby
