As a worker in Yosemite National Park, I am now out of work because of the closure of the park. And my county will be devastated if the shutdown doesn't end soon since tourism is its main source of income.

  • Rep. Valadao: Please Cosponsor the New House Immigration Bill
House Democrats have broken Speaker John Boehner's deadlock and introduced an immigration bill with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million without papers. So far, over 150 House Democrats have signed on as cosponsors! But in order to get this bill past the finish line, we're going to need Republican support. The good news is that it's there. Your district's representative in the House, Congressman David Valadao, is one of the 26 House Republicans who support a path to citizenship. His support for this new bill could be the tipping point for our movement. If he becomes the first Republican to sign on, we know more of his colleagues in his party will build up the courage to follow. According to Politico, when asked about the new House bill, Rep. Valadao said, “If there’s some common-sense legislation out there, it doesn’t matter who starts it. If there’s an opportunity to do something that’s moving the ball forward, I’ll look at it.” But, “looking” isn’t going to cut it. With a path to citizenship within reach, we need to get Rep. Valadao off the fence and onto our side. He needs to join the more than 150 House members and cosponsor this new immigration bill! We need you and other advocates in your district to pressure Rep. Valadao into supporting this bill. If we get Rep. Valadao on board, your district could make all the difference for the millions without papers across the nation. The momentum is on our side because enough votes exist in the House to pass reform today. But instead Speaker Boehner hides behind excuses, delays, and flat-out refuses to give us a vote. We've come too far to stop now. Tell Rep. Valadao to stand up for his district by cosponsoring this new immigration bill in the House and passing the path to citizenship for the 11 million!

So far, over 150 House Democrats have signed on as cosponsors! But in order to get this bill past the finish line, we're going to need Republican support. The good news is that it's there. His support of this new bill could be the tipping point for our movement. If he becomes the first Republican to sign on, we know more of his colleagues in his party will build up the courage to follow. Rep. Denham recently penned an op-ed supportive of the path to citizenship. But according to Politico, when asked about the new House bill, Rep. Denham replied, “It sounds very positive, but I will always wait to see what those details are.” With a path to citizenship within reach, we need to get Rep. Denham off the fence and onto our side. Rep. Denham needs to put his own words into action and join the more than 150 House cosponsors of this new immigration bill! We need you and other advocates in your district to call on your representative, Jeff Denham, to support this bill. If we get Rep. • Stop SB 863: Save Oregon Farms and Farmers.
GMO's are an unknown, some recent studies show afflictions in animals, there is a wonderful book on Autoimmune Disorders and GMO's, by a Doctor. Protections for big corporations who want to use us and control us are not in our best interest. My body has been poisoned by some chemical or combinations of because I have many medical disorders that the dr.s don't understand exactly what they are and why I have them and they disagree on even what all I have.

  • We don't know if Harbor Point families are safe!
We’re concerned that the Harbor Point developers are considering piercing a cap that holds potentially dangerous chemicals right next the Fells Point neighborhood. The community, local businesses, and workers around the formerly contaminated site haven’t gotten all the information we want about this plan before it goes forward. That’s why we need an outside, independent investigation of the potential costs of developing Harbor Point.

  • Calling all Clergy and Lay Leaders
I, and others, are extremely outraged at Congressional Republicans across the country who are responsible for shutting down the government. Their reckless and irresponsible scheme has put Social Security checks for American senior citizens at risk, threatens veterans' benefits for our men and women in uniform, delays many government programs vital to the middle class, and impacts student loans--all in the name of a Tea Party crusade to shut down the government and derail the Affordable Care Act. How many marginalized Americans will be hurt before Republicans finally denounce this radical right-wing crusade to re-fight the health care battles of the past and devastate our national and global economy? Under a government shutdown, nearly 1.4 million active duty military personnel--two of which are our family members--would not be paid for their work until after the shutdown ends. Additionally, according to the Department of Defense, nearly half of the civilian workforce would not be paid during a government shutdown. This is immoral and disrespectful to American voters. For the Bible says pay unto ever man and woman what is due.

  • Impeach John Boehner for Treason
I have had to call my creditors and tell them I may not receive a paycheck until the government shutdown is over. I have to work without pay! We need a House of Representatives that truly care about a strong America with healthy citizens. With over 800,000 federal employees being out of work and the subsequent trickle down to missed mortgages, car payments electric and utility payments there will be untold damage to our economy and the safety of the American people.

  • No solution, no pay.
Congress was elected to solve problems, not create new ones. Whatever modifications need to be made to the Affordable Care Act, taking America hostage and ruining our economy so that radical right-wingers can get their way, and shutting down the federal government is not a way to work out issues. It's time for Congress to get a dose if its own medicine. No solution? No pay!

  • Save Workshops for Developmentally Disabled
Family members and people working in Toe Path Industries, a sheltered work center operated by Schoharie County ARC, are worried about what people will do if this vocational option of choice is eliminated. The Schoharie-based workshop employs 68 people who are learning new skills through meaningful work opportunities in a safe and accessible environment while contributing and earning a paycheck for real work. Whether employed by the sheltered workshop or through the supported employment program, a job creates a sense of dignity and pride for people to have a place to go to work and contribute to the community.
