• Reverse the USTA National Rule 2.06A
The new national rule, 2.06A, that has just been instituted will have a negative impact on the upcoming mixed and women's/men's seasons. Leagues will fall apart and/or have considerably fewer teams, captains will resign due to the headache of finding players, people will not have teams to join due to the restrictions and teams not having made nationals will have to dispand because of various individuals who did make nationals. Lastly and most importantly, the USTA's mission statement is"To promote and develop the growth of tennis". Do you think this new rule fits into the mission statement of the USTA?

Republican extremism has impacted me in this way: Research funding for the basic sciences has been cut by the Republican budgets, including the sequester, leading to unemployment for me and for many other scientists nationwide. As we are forced to abandon the pursuit of basic research that has led to huge economic advances for our nation and the world, we see that these budget cuts are discouraging young people from pursuing science and we are telling our students to go into other fields or move overseas. We are ceding our national advantage in innovation and development to countries like China and Korea who are raising their investments, which will ultimately aid them in surpassing our economy and relegate the U.S. to following, rather than leading, in our global, technological economy.

  • Democrats: Stand strong against Tea Party Republicans
I am deeply disappointed that our Republican brethren do not seem able to set aside their agenda for the sake of the good of the country. As a result of their obstinacy, I have been unable to deal with tax questions (no one is manning the help lines at the IRS), and I am worried both about my parents, who depend on their meager Social Security payments, and the long-term impact on the health of several family members who depend on the Veteran's Administration for psychiatric and medical healthcare.

I moved to Virginia 4.5 years ago from El Paso, Texas. I am a retired soldier. I have to work because my military retirement is surely not enough to retire on. I love my job. I also must work because the state of Virginia does not allow me to collect unemployment. I love what I do. I feel vital working. I am of sound mind and body. I want to work. Make your decision and allow me to do the work (in the public sector) that I love. I have bills to pay. If this goes on any longer, I am not sure I will have money to pay my rent.

  • Save the Wolfe Manor
The Wolfe Manor is an important building in history for the city of Clovis. It is the hope of owner Todd Wolfe to restore this majestic building and bring new business and tourism to Clovis. The City of Clovis is biased in its decision to demolish this building and we want to let the council know that Clovis cares about its history.

  • Tea Party Republicans: Stop holding the country hostage!
I fear that our account for our daughter's college education is going to go down with the total financial health of our great nation, that's being put on the scaffold by right-wing extremists holding all of us hostage. Stop! Our church's food bank cannot provide for the needs of the working poor!

  • Tea party Republicans: Stop holding the country hostage!
Tea party Republicans have held our government hostage for too long! During that time, more than 800,000 government employees have been unable to work, 3,200 children have been locked out of Head Start, and 401 national parks have been closed to the public. We've had enough -- it's time to end the shutdown, raise the debt ceiling and help America move forward.

  • Let the full elected House vote on government shutdown
The democratic issue of letting the people have their voice in the House of Representatives is not being articulated or respected. The current leadership of the House is preventing a vote by the full House on the issue. This representation of ALL of the people is an issue fundamental to American way of government, and yet this issue of democracy is not being well-presented by the current protagonists. This is not a totalitarian government. Let the people speak.

  • United States House of Representatives: Stop holding the country hostage!
The extremism and the willingness of Congress to play games with the lives of its constituents has had a major impact on me. I am a federal employee, working for the U.S. Air Force. On Tuesday morning, a gentleman came to my desk to tell me he had something he needed to read to me. I am blind, so I can't read printed documents without assistance. This gentleman had a furlough notice to read to me, because Congress had chosen to let the government be shut down rather than pass a continuing resolution and then work out their differences. As the gentleman placed his finger on the document, indicating where I should sign to show that I understood what was being done, all I could think about was how I'm going to pay my bills while Congress collects paychecks and continues to bargain with the livelihoods of over 800,000 people in situations similar to mine. One word rises to the surface of my thoughts whenever I think about this--unacceptable!

I am affected by the situation of sending young men in California out of state to serve their time. I have a son who is incarcerated in Prison. He would be sent to another state where I would not be able to visit him.
