Congressional Leaders, Reject ‘Stand Your Ground’ Foreign Policy: Don’t Call the Vote to Bomb Syria! The Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100) demand that leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives, Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi NOT call the vote to authorize the use of military force in Syria. We demand this for several reasons: 1. US Military Intervention will not bring justice, self determination, safety, security or freedom to the people of Syria. We believe that military attack being proposed to the crisis in Syria will only make the suffering of the Syrian people worse. The best most humane way forward is a peaceful, political settlement with all sides of the conflict at the table and expanding humanitarian aid for Syrian Refugees. 2. BYP100 has no confidence in this Congress’s ability to make sound decisions about foreign policy when it has consistently failed to make sound domestic policy. It is our belief that such an intervention would perpetuate the injustice black people in the United States are facing today. Congress committing Americans to pay for a unnecessary military intervention while refusing to pay for vital social and community Services within the United States as a whole and the Black community in particular due to sequestration budget cuts to vital programs, including SNAP and Head Start, is wrong, unjust and immoral. 3. BYP100 rejects this ‘Stand Your Ground’ approach to foreign policy because one government that is empowered to police the world is no different than Florida gun owners who are empowered by unjust laws to shoot first and ask questions later. Invite President Obama to support the National Cesar E. Chavez Blood Drive Challenge! Will you help to encourage President Obama to support the National Cesar E. Chavez Blood Drive Challenge? Only 3% of the U.S. Latino/Hispanic population donate blood, yet it is the fastest growing segment of our population. We can turn this situation around into a solution for our entire nation. Let's increase Latino/Hispanic participation in blood donation and bone marrow registry by inviting more Latino/Hispanic student leaders on more college campuses to take on this challenge. It's working! Over 70,000+ college students have participated already. We would like President Obama to support the campaign by possibly inviting some of the student leaders to the White House. What do you think?20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Glen Galindo

Stop-and-frisk the Koch Brothers, not Detroit!Stop-and-frisk won’t likely be used on the young professionals downtown or the hipsters that are moving into the city. And does anyone honestly think that the DPD will be stop-and-frisking Lions, Tigers or Red Wings fans on game day? No - it will be the working class black and latino communities that will be the target of these types of unconstitutional discrimination and searches. The Manhattan Institute helped develop New York City’s controversial stop-and-frisk program. That program has only yielded three results: it’s ineffective, it leads to racial profiling of blacks and latinos and it was recently ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge. The worst part? While retirees worry Kevyn Orr is on his way to gutting their pensions, the Detroit Police Department is paying consultants more than $600,000 to advise them on implementing stop-and-frisk. Seriously? If anyone needs to be subject to random stop-and-frisks, it’s the Koch Brothers.275 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Lonnie Scott

Support Syrian Refugees, Not BombingI can not rationalize bombing Syria. No good will come of it. If we really care about helping the "Good People of Syria" then we should devote our attention to those poor people who have had to leave their homeland.30 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Linda Grant

Stop the Bowker Overpass Rebuild and Restore the Charlesgate Park in BostonThe Commonwealth of MA. Dept. of Transportation has recently announced formal plans to rebuild-in-place the Bowker Overpass in Charlesgate Park, Boston, beginning in early 2014. The Overpass, which was constructed in 1967, slices through and destroyed the Charlesgate Park, a key section of the Olmsted Emerald Necklace (a National Registry of Historic Places site); destroyed an essential & fragile wetlands, the Muddy River basin where it meets the Charles River; and creates a strong negative impact on the quality of life in the surrounding historic and revitalizing neighborhoods of Back Bay West, Kenmore, and Bay State Road. We are asking the Commonwealth to cease and desist from this massive project; to perform minimal repairs to keep the Bowker safe and operational until the issue of Removal is addressed in a meaningful way (and not in the 10-20 year framework DOT is suggesting.) The DOT could save millions in ongoing repairs if the Bowker was removed and the roadway brought to grade. Removal would help reestablish the fragile wetlands and parkland of the Charlesgate/Muddy River basin (now a stagnant and polluted wasteland); would facilitate further economic revitalization around the Kenmore section of Boston; and would re-emphasize the historic nature of this beautiful residential neighborhood as well as give us back our beautiful parkland. A rebuild would exacerbate all the negative elements mentioned and, while pandering to the economic pressures of MASCO and other business powerhouses, is ultimately not in the best interests of the City of Boston or the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Please help us make our state and federal officials know what a terrible idea the Bowker rebuild project is and demand its removal now. Sustainable Planet starting in your own backyardThis perpetual war in the Middle East and North Africa is now poisoning our Souls and Planet. Leaders and Citizens at every level of society need to demand an immediate end to Carbon Pollution (Big Oil will enjoy a guilt-free future of infinite security in the plastics and other petroleum products markets), transition to Biofuels and Electric transportation, cover the Middle East with Solar Panels and Windmills powering the entire Eurasian/African Supercontinent, and discontinue Nuclear Power except for Military and Outer Space exploration.74 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Eddy

Kent Davidson plea offering of Guilty to Manslaughter One.Kent Davidson murdered my daughter, Crystal Schulz on March 11, 2013. Kent Davidson lured Crystal out to a shed. Kent Davidson shot Crystal in the back of the head twice with a shot gun. Kent Davidson fled the scene in Crystal's car. Kent Davidson drove to Sioux Falls, SD where he met up with a "love interest" and partied. Kent Davidson was arrested on a parole violation on March 15, 2013. Kent Davidson walked away from a half-way house in Rapid City, South Dakota in October 2012. The authorities were not looking for him at that time until he murdered Crystal on March 11, 2013. Kent Davidson has five felony convictions and twenty-two misdemeanors convictions. Kent Davidson is a habitual offender. Kent Davidson upgraded from "non-violent" crimes to a violent crime, murder in the first degree, premeditated murder. Kent Davidson needs to be in prison for the rest of his life, better yet he needs to be put to death. The prosecuting deputy attorney suggested saving the taxpayers money by accepting this plea offering. Murder is murder and that is what Kent Davidson did. Rep. Schiff: Don't bomb SyriaInstead of dropping bombs, the U.S. can and should use other, better means to show Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the world that chemical weapons are intolerable. President Obama can bring Assad to the International Criminal Court, and he can call for international negotiations. The U.S. can provide humanitarian aid to the millions of affected Syrians, and the U.S. can boycott trade with Syria, and other non-military means. Bombing Syria is likely to increase the refugee crisis, further destabilize the region, and commit the U.S. to open-ended conflict. Even the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Martin Dempsey, told Congress that attacking Syria would "escalate and potentially further commit the United States to the conflict." Rep. Schiff voted for the Iraq war. This week, he called the Iraq war "a terrible mistake" and said that "Iraq hangs over this debate like a big dark cloud and I think it will influence all of us." Let's learn from the past and not go down that road again. We can help the Syrian people and weaken Assad without military action.31 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Victoria Kaplan

Make our Recreation Areas Smoke FreeOur children should not be exposed to smoking at the town's recreational fields. The kids are there to play sports and be involved in fitness. What kind of message does it send them that we allow smoking at these events? It is also disturbing the health of those by standers that do not smoke.39 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Marylee Lyndon
