Our access to Pine Grove is now completely blocked which is where we load and unload children, elderly parents, groceries, etc. We are now forced to do this in a tow zone on Addison. Ironically Addison is deemed unsafe for the cyclists. The stop sign is obstructed and the station is 10 feet into a tow zone. All Divvy locations in the 46th ward except one are by commercial enterprises and the one residential site (not yet installed) is at the back of a building not disturbing privacy. Let's advocate for appropriate, safe locations for Divvy.

I am tired of the Senate not requiring the filibuster senator to do anything but call for a filibuster. I believe this has been interfering with the fow of business. I favor the original rules for filibuster that requires something of the person calling for a filibuster.

Because he treated two people with negative western blots, he has two weeks to either pay $20k and practice with probationary supervision OR give up his license. This is totally ludicrous. 1) The VA legislature and governor passed, Feb 2013, a law that all doctors must inform patients of inaccurate Western Blots and Elisa lab tests for lyme. They are not the first state to do so. 2) The CDC has stated for lyme disease to IGNORE testing and diagnose clinically. But because evidencuary medicine is so prevalent, physicians ignore the CDC instructions. 3) The CDC announced last week that over 300,000 were contracting lyme every year and their previous estimates were 10 times to low (30,000). What they didn't say was, they were too low basically because lab testing is so poor and should not be trusted. Our son has consumed over $1,000,000 in health care in the last 4.5 years, with over $300,000 of that coming out of our pockets. Dr Lentz's portion has been very, very, little of that, and yet he has helped us tremendously. The YMCA in Maury County is scheduled to close on December 31st of this year. I do not understand why your members weren't given this news well before this so we'd have a chance to do one or more fundraisers to help keep this YMCA open. The YMCA is the only source of exercise for both my husband, who is disabled from a car accident, and my son, who has Down Syndrome. The therapy pool there is the only one in a 30-mile radius. This will also greatly effect the large population of disabled and elderly, not to mention those who need it to recover from various injuries. On top of that, the YMCA is a major source of community in our area and its closing would greatly effect the area in more ways than we can count. There's got to be a way for the members to keep the YMCA open - even if a few services have to be canceled temporarily.

According to the American Lung Association, "Each year 24,000 premature deaths, 550,000 asthma attacks, 38,000 heart attacks, and 12,000 hospital admissions attributed to Coal Plant pollution". Less burning of coal means less mercury, toxic chemicals, and waste products that pollute our lakes and cause health concerns that have the most impact on children and expectant mothers. Sherco 1 & 2 are also Minnesota's biggest carbon polluters, pumping more than eight million tons of carbon dioxide into the air every year. Replacing them with clean energy would be a huge step forward for Minnesota. We have a historic opportunity to act because the Public Utilities Commission is taking public comments for a limited time and will decide the fate of this facility soon.

The Governor has stated that he MIGHT call a Special Session of the Hawaii State Legislature to pass marriage equality into law. Let Governor Abercrombie and the Legislature know that justice delayed is never justice. We need a Special Session called, and we need it called NOW! We've been waiting 20 years since Justice Steven Levinson decided in Baehr v. Lewin that it was unconstitutional for same-sex couples to be denied marriage in Hawai'i. The resulting court case showed then--and it remains true today--that the State of Hawaii has NO compelling interest to deny ANY couple equal marriage. In the 1998 debacle, a minority of Hawai'i's voters decided in a "referendum" of sorts to take away the rights of GLBT couples and assigned marriage to the sole and dedicated purview of the Legislature. Senators and Representatives alone were empowered to decide who can marry whom and when. The public has HAD it's say. It is way overdue for the Governor Abercrombie and the Hawaii Senate and House to call immediately for a Special Session of the Legislature to pass marriage equality for all of Hawai'i's citizens into law. Please help us ask our lawmakers and the Governor to make marriage equlity a reality in Hawai'i TODAY!

United States Departments airing Public Service Announcements (PSAs) include Department of Energy, United States Forest Service (as in Smokey Bear), Housing and Urban Development. The Ad Council distributes many of these PSAs claiming, “The airing of Ad Council PSAs on media programs does not imply support of that program or its spokesperson’s ideologies.” As taxpayers, We The People do not want our name used to fill Rush Limbaugh's dead air.

Gov. Brown is trying to pull a bait and switch. He's proposed raiding the budget surplus created by Prop 30, so he can throw $715 MILLION down the black hole of California's prison system. Gov. Brown claims that his hands are tied. He claims a court order mandating him to reduce prison size by 10,000 has forced him to spend billions more in taxpayer dollars over the next 5 years. Don't believe the spin. The Los Angeles Times and Sacramento Bee editorial boards don't; they've ripped apart the Governor's approach. According to the Brown Administration's own proposals to the court earlier this summer, California can reduce its prisoner population by 10,000 through smart, proven, and most importantly SAFE strategies that emphasize rehabilitation, increased prisoner firefighting brigades, "good time" credits in which prisoners earn early release, and the release of elderly, sick, debilitated prisoners that pose no threat to society. Here's the truth: Gov. Brown is afraid. He and our Democratic legislators are terrified of being labeled "soft on crime." We need to convince him there's another way.
