Please air the Documentary Citizen Koch.. A New Yorker article revealed that public television pulled the documentary Citizen Koch from a planned national broadcast – out of fear of upsetting major PBS donor and right-wing billionaire David Koch. Citizen Koch is a powerful documentary by Academy Award-nominated filmmakers that tells the story of the outsized role of money in politics. I want to watch it.

"Citizen Koch" was pulled from a national public television broadcast because of fear of upsetting David Koch, who has been a major donor to public television. But public television stations should answer to viewers like me, not to billionaires like the Koch brothers -- and I want to see this important documentary. Will you join the call for a national broadcast of "Citizen Koch" on Independent Lens?

Huge layoffs due to outsourcing by medical transcription companies have left hundreds if not thousands jobless. Professional medical transcriptionists were terminated without warning. Consider the cost of unemployment and retraining of these individuals, many of whom were at the height of their careers. Not only is this a question of jobs going overseas, but more importantly it is an invasion of the privacy of the medical record. There are no regulations in place to protect patient privacy such as the HIPAA regulations under which all U.S. medical transcriptions trained and complied. Was the constitution written to protect corporate greed or the individual? I encourage each and every state (since the MTs affected by this outsourcing come from every state in the union),to ban the outsourcing of medical records and bring these jobs back to America at once!

The California State Senate has voted to shine a bright light on dark money in elections by passing the Sunshine in Campaigns Act and the California DISCLOSE Act. Now it's the _Assembly's_ turn to act. They may be deciding any day now. The Sunshine in Campaigns Act is 3 bills: SB 2, SB 3, and SB 27. They will: • Stop secretive non-profits like the Arizona group that laundered $11 million into California last election from hiding their donors when they spend millions on campaigns. • Require candidates to “stand by their ads”. • Toughen slate mailer disclosures. • Require the Secretary of State to create a new online reporting system. • Increase the penalties for campaign violations including money laundering. SB 2 and SB 3 are sponsored by California Common Cause and the League of Women Voters of California. SB 27 is sponsored by the Fair Political Practices Commission. Then, the Assembly needs to pass SB 52, the California DISCLOSE Act. SB 52 will stop political ads from deceiving voters by forcing them to reveal who REALLY pays for them -- right on the ads themselves. SB 52 is sponsored by the California Clean Money Campaign. Tell the Assembly to act now by passing the Sunshine in Campaigns Act, and then following through by passing the California DISCLOSE Act!

Stop the Koch Brothers Now

"The United States is the only nation that lets insurance companies extract a profit from basic health coverage." (T.R. Reid) I have been paying for health care insurance for decades, and yet now that I need medical care, I am swamped with medical bills, deductibles to fulfill, co-pays and co-insurance costs, and limited in-network provider choices. I am being billed by out-of-network pathology labs for more than four times the amount that my insurance company or Medicare would have to pay, and I am being threatened with collections if I don’t pay the full amount. (Laurie S., Licensed Counselor and Filmmaker) Meanwhile, health insurance companies are making billions of dollars in profits, and their CEO’s make millions per year from OUR premiums. While Obamacare attempts to regulate some of the most heinous practices, it does not give us a health care system that is for people instead of for profit. THERE IS A SOLUTION to the health care crisis in America that costs all of us less, covers everyone, and has better health outcomes. Tax-supported health care means everyone contributes by paying taxes based on their level of income, and everyone receives medical care whenever they need it. Tax supported health care is NOT government-run health care. It is government-financed health care. The government collects the money from the people and pays the hospitals and doctors who run their own practices. It is like Medicare, only for EVERYONE. Let’s bring an end to the health care injustices, join the rest of the industrialized world, and take care of our people.

Dear KPBS, Citizens have a right to watch the documentary Citizen Koch which was scheduled for broadcast on PBS. If you need to divest yourself of contributions from David Koch, that is all to the good, as he was instrumental in producing the fallacious Nova segment which spread untruths about the 9-11 demolition.

Koch money shouldn't influence public television programming -- we want to see the film Citizen Koch aired on PBS!

So that people will know that the Koch brothers don't make diet Coke. But, are very heavily influencing the elections with "Tea Party" candidates.
