  • WFIQ - 36: Support Free Speech. Air "Citizen Koch!"
Air Citizen Koch! "Citizen Koch" was pulled from a national public television broadcast because of fear of upsetting David Koch, who has been a major donor to public television. But public television stations should answer to viewers like me, not to billionaires like the Koch brothers -- and I want to see this important documentary. Will you join the call for a national broadcast of "Citizen Koch" on Independent Lens?

  • WKAR: Air the documentary Citizen Koch
"Citizen Koch" was pulled from national public television broadcast, but we have a right to know. I want to see this important documentary. I am not the only one. Public TV stations should answer to regular viewers, not powerful billionaires. Isn't that what public TV is all about? Will you buck the rich and powerful, and air this documentary?

  • Tell OPB to show Citizen Koch
I am disappointed in Public Television for pulling the documentary "Citizen Koch" for fear of upsetting the Koch brothers who are contributors to PBS. I wondered why they were contributing to PBS and why PBS had taken money from such right-wing sources.

"Citizen Koch" was pulled from a national public television broadcast because of fear of upsetting David Koch, who has previously donated funds to public television (PBS). • STOP CDCR STG GROUP FROM BEING LAW
CDCR (CA Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation) has launched a STG (Security Threat Group) program to be codified into the Title 15. It allows, among many things, long term indefinite isolation of inmates at great expense to the State. It lays the foundation for no one to be allowed out of SHU (Security Housing Unit) and into a SDP (Step Down Program) without agreeing, before entering, the SDP to snitch on others for the CDCR, while in SDP, at great risk to their families and their own safety. You can not simply disavow yourself of gang activity and work toward rehabilitation goals. You must agree to be a confidential informant. It also has a broad brush struck of who can be labeled an STG. It can done on a "suspicion" by a guard, with no proof. There are ways beside the use of SHU's to isolate active gang members from general population without the expense and inhumane treatment of SHU's.

  • Why is Yahoo! censoring Martin Manley's website but OK with hard core porn?
I am outraged by the Yahoo! decision to turn off Martin Manley's website. Partly because of his site's potential value to those wishing to better understand and prevent suicide. And partly because, as a fellow author, I have a particular appreciation of what a labor of love it was for Martin to create what he created, hoping that it would be read by a wide audience and ultimately augment the sum total of human happiness. Why is it, I wonder, that Yahoo! saw fit to pay $990 million to buy Tumblr and continue to make its porn available in a manner that enables the circumvention of parental controls (see link) - while censoring Manley? http://pandodaily.com/2013/07/26/tumblr-porn-is-a-bigger-problem-than-yahoo-realizes/

  • KUHT-Houston: air the documentary Citizen Koch!
Because billionaire David Koch has been a major contributor to public TV, the eye-opening documentary "Citizen Koch" was pulled from being broadcast. But as the first public television station in the nation, KUHT should realize that public television must remain unbiased and dedicated to informing the public. This documentary should no longer be blocked from airing on PBS's "Independent Lens."
