• Tell Amazon: Reinstate Fired Workers Organizing for Health and Safety Protections in Warehouses
Bashir Mohamed, an Amazon worker in Minnesota, spoke out about unsafe working conditions and Amazon showed him the door. Just two weeks before, the company fired Chris Smalls, another worker who dared to protest Amazon's failure to protect workers, igniting an international firestorm and drawing scrutiny from elected officials. Amazon has also fired two tech workers in Seattle, Emily Cunningham and Maren Costa, both outspoken critics of the company's climate policies and the conditions workers face in Amazon operations. Courtney Bowden and Gerald Bryson are the latest whistleblowers to lose their jobs. These firings are outrageous and a fundamental failure of leadership.

Due to the fact that the student body of Sacramento State primarily consists of minority students, it is important to us that we cultivate an educational environment that is free from racial bias and discrimination. In order to ensure that students feel exempt from bigotry in the classroom, professors that have exhibited a blatant prejudice against minorities, both on and off campus, need to be dismissed from employment at Sac State.

  • Impeach and Remove Attorney General Barr
Our Department of Justice is meant to uphold our laws -- and hold those who violate them accountable, no matter who they are. But Attorney General William Barr has turned it into a political tool to protect Trump and his allies from investigations and accountability. The latest example? The DOJ just dropped its case against Michael Flynn -- even though Flynn already pleaded guilty. That’s completely unheard-of. Flynn, Trump’s former National Security Advisor, lied to the FBI twice during the Russia investigation -- and admitted later to doing so. But Trump -- who values personal loyalty to him over all else -- had been pressing for Flynn to be let off the hook, calling him “innocent,” his prosecution an act of “treason,” and saying he was “strongly considering” a pardon for Flynn. And while he won’t need to do that now that the DOJ has dropped its case, the message is the same: as long as you’re willing to cover for Donald Trump, he’ll let you break the law and get away with it. And as Trump’s Attorney General, Barr is leading that assault on the rule of law -- even though he swore a sacred oath to uphold it. Time after time, Barr has subverted the Justice Department’s mission in order to protect Trump or his cronies. He walked back the recommended sentence for former Trump advisor Roger Stone after Trump complained on Twitter… he brazenly misled the public about Robert Mueller’s findings… and his Department of Justice tried to bury the whistleblower complaint that led to Trump’s impeachment. Plus, he threatened legal action against those governors who enforce social distancing regulations during the COVID-19 crisis -- falling in line with Trump’s stance against these life-saving measures. The Attorney General is supposed to defend our nation by making sure no one is above the law -- but Barr has repeatedly abused his power to serve our lawless president. That’s why Congress has a duty to impeach him and remove him from office.

  • Let’s Put Saving Lives Ahead of the Pentagon’s PR Stunts
Each day, we hear story after story after story about someone who is suffering in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. In response, the Pentagon performed a series of military fighter jets flyovers across the United States in early May. But this ultra-militaristic show of force has nothing to do with COVID-19 — it won’t help people get their jobs back or get better. It’s simply a gigantic and insulting waste of taxpayer money in a moment when millions are asking for critical help and support. Our movement is built for fights just like this. When Trump wanted a tank parade, we stopped him. When his Administration tried to limit our rights to protest outside the White House on the National Mall, we fought back, and we won. We can win this fight, too, but only if we get loud now. Demand Secretary of Defense Mark Esper immediately stop fighter jet flyovers and redirect every dime planned for these shows to be spent on lifesaving medical equipment and economic relief instead.

  • Include Tattoo Studios in Reopening of Personal Care Businesses in Ohio
Licensed and established Body Modification Businesses (Tattoo Studios, Piercing Studios etc) WILL NOT present any greater risk of COVID -19 transmission than a Salon, Barbershop or other Personal Care Service. We were all forced to cease operations when closures were mandated on 3/18/2020. We should be able to open along side them 5/15/2020. Our standards of care and sanitation are equal to or greater than those of most salons, barbers, nail shops, as well retail, manufacturing, restaurants and other businesses already open and allowed to reopen this month. We just want to be seen and treated as equals and get back to work. Ours, along with other small businesses are suffering. Reopening this month will gives us a chance to hopefully recover our losses from this six week long closure and move forward. We have families to care for and needs to be met just like everyone else. We make an honest living, contribute to our local economy and give to our communities. Just like other hardworking business owners, contractors and employees. It would be a great disservice to segregate us from other small businesses like ours in plans for reopening Ohio.

  • CONGRESS: Enlarge the Food Stamp Program (SNAP) for Americans in Need due to COVAD19
Food banks are ill equipped to handle the volume of recipients as a result of the multitudes of Americans who have lost their income. The Food Stamp program (SNAP) would allow these folks to purchase their groceries in the supermarket allowing them dignity and safety by not waiting in lines for 3 hours or more. Also supermarkets are designed to move a lot of food and food banks do not have the same capacity. This petition is to go to your Members of Congress and Senators.

  • Ban Pet Sales in the Remaining 49 States
Banning retail pet sales will save the lives of countless animals. Adopting a rescued animal saves a life. When you purchase an animal, you support the pet breeding industry, which includes puppy mills, cat breeding operations, and industrial rabbit farms. Every year countless animals are purchased on a whim, and end up at municipal shelters and rescues. These situations are preventable, simply by assuring that an adoption process is in place, and animals that are available are rescued, not bred.

  • The Federal Government's Accountability for COVID-19 Deaths
In light of the extensive evidence that through late January, February and early March there was a refusal by Donald Trump to take seriously and make any effort to address the growing menace of the Corona Virus, even as he was being repeatedly warned of its dangers (e.g. in the context of his daily Presidential briefings) it is apparent that he was engaging in a dereliction of his duties and as a result was placing every American citizen in peril. Furthermore, as was recently documented in the New York Times, at the end of February Trump and his administration perpetrated a systematic cover-up, lying to and misleading the American public in an effort to convince people that COVID-19 posed no serious danger to them. The Trump administration purposely jeopardized the health, safety and lives of Americans and is culpable for the growing number of deaths that have at least in part resulted from this. They must be held responsible for their inaction and disregard for protecting the lives of American citizens.

  • Protect the U.S. Postal Service from Trump
Trump just picked one of his longtime cronies to serve as the head of the U.S. Postal Service -- an agency he’s been railing against for years and called a “joke” just last month. That’s right: Louis DeJoy is set to become the first postmaster general in two decades who didn’t rise through the agency’s ranks. In fact, DeJoy hasn’t had a single day of experience within the agency. He has, however, given millions of dollars to Trump and the Republican party since 2016. This is just the latest step in Trump’s plan to undermine the USPS. He has already threatened to veto any stimulus bill with Postal Service funding in it -- and he’s trying to impose draconian conditions on USPS workers as a condition for a loan from the Treasury. Now, he’s making sure he has a man on the inside -- someone who can do his bidding for him. The USPS couldn’t be more crucial to the survival of our democracy, especially this year. Many will return their 2020 Census forms by mail, to make sure we get an accurate count of everyone living in the U.S. -- and vote-by-mail programs will be an important way for voters to safely make themselves heard in the 2020 elections. That’s why our representatives can’t let Trump, DeJoy, or anyone else threaten the USPS or our right to vote by mail. Add your name to tell Congress: we need careful oversight of this vital agency.

  • NYC: Let Immigrants Vote Absentee!
As COVID-19 forces NYC's immigrant communities to grapple with death and economic devastation, they may now also face widespread disenfranchisement at the exact moment their voices need to be amplified. In advance of primary elections, the NYC Board of Elections created an online application for absentee ballots on May 5, but failed to provide it in any language other than English. As a result, hundreds of thousands of immigrant voters, afraid to visit polls and unable to vote by mail, could be shut out of primary elections. According to the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, more than half of the 1.6 million immigrants living in New York City are citizens, and 853,000 people residing in the city speak languages other than English. NYC Board of Election may also be violating Section 203 of the federal Voting Rights Act, which requires the Board to translate all materials into certain minority languages. See: https://www.justice.gov/crt/language-minority-citizens Tell the Board of Elections and our elected leaders to PROTECT immigrants' voting rights!

  • TATTOO SHOPS
as a shop owner for 21 years my opinion is that the closing of licensed tattoo facilities opens up the very real threat for wanna be artists, otherwise known as scratchers, to practice the arts from home. (which is illegal)…..while this has been going on for years in the area where I conduct business, the longer we are forced to remain closed the more of a chance there is for a larger breeding ground for other medical problems such as staph infections, HIV, and or hepatitis, just to name a few. believe it or not, the tattoo industry is thriving and if people want the work done bad enough they will seek it out no matter where it is they get it from.
