• Bridge, Levee and Dam Right To Know
In light of our crumbling infrastructure and congressional refusal to fund bridge, dam and levee repairs, upgrades and inspections, we the people have a right to know which bridges levees and dams are not safe, and which are not inspected - IN A VISIBLE WAY. Bridges that are unsafe or not up to code should have a posted RED WARNING SIGN - VISIBLE TO DRIVERS (visible going over and under the bridge) - Dams and Levees should also have signage. Those that have not been inspected in the last 5 years should have a YELLOW WARNING SIGN. In this way we the people can determine if we want to risk our family's lives, instead of those in power assuming we will take the risk!!!

  • TELL PA DEMS, "STOP FRACKING NOW!"
The Pennsylvania State Democratic Party's current position on fracking is tax and regulate. A resolution was offered at their last meeting calling for a moratorium on fracking that never made it to the floor for a vote. They'll have a chance to consider the resolution at their June meeting. We want to make sure it gets to the floor for a vote and passes!

  • End SOMMS
According to Idoc, these sex offenders are put into these programs as part of their Parole or Probation stipulations. The cost for this program is too much for thesr offenders and when they can't pay they get Violated.

  • Reinstate Dr. David Sager and investigate the circumstances of his termination
Dr. David Sager was terminated without explanation from his position as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Family Services by Commissioner Randy Parker. The termination followed improvements in procedures, cost-savings, and morale. This is larger than the termination of one stellar public servant. It’s about whether or not we show up to influence and improve the way decisions are made in this county and the processes by which we institute them.

  • Tell Louisiana's legislature: women and families deserve health care, not politics.
Louisiana's legislature goes out on June 6th. Let’s keep fighting alongside Louisiana’s women and families and against out-of-touch politicians till the end of session! Instead of passing legislation that provides Louisianans with access to health care, politicians at the state capital are passing resolutions that could leave thousands of women without access to lifesaving cancer screenings, birth control, HIV testing, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections. How Louisiana compares nationally: • Teen birth rate is higher than the national average; in 2010, teen birth rate was 6th highest in the nation. • Rates of infection for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis — sexually transmitted infections that can impact fertility — are among the highest in the USA. • Two of its cities (Baton Rouge and New Orleans) rank 2nd and 3rd highest in HIV infection rate in the county. There is already a serious shortage of health care providers in the state, and as a result, too many women in Louisiana aren’t getting access to high-quality, affordable health care. Opportunity to expand care while decreasing costs: • Passing Medicaid legislation could expand access to health care to as many as 400,000 people. • Medicaid expansion would also bring 15.7 billion dollars into the Louisiana economy over the next decade, which will help create jobs and support businesses. • For every $1 spent on family planning services, like those Planned Parenthood provides, an estimated $12 is saved in costs associated with unintended pregnancies. Louisiana's legislature has an opportunity to EXPAND access to health care to an additional 400,000 Louisianans by expanding Medicaid. What are they doing instead? Passing bills that RESTRICT access to health care in a state that already suffers from some of the greatest health disparities in the country. Join us as we fight alongside Louisiana’s women and families! Sign this petition by the end of Louisiana’s legislative session, June 6th, to send a message to the Louisiana legislature to stop playing politics with women's health and start providing health care. Sincerely, Melissa S. Flournoy, PhD Louisiana State Director, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast

  • Just Say No to the Old Farm Liquor Store
We had a mini-mart/gas station in Old Farm that closed a couple of years ago. It was recently purchased and is designated to become a liquor store. Please sign this petition to keep the liquor store out of Old Farm. It will generate extra traffic and potentially increase crime in the area. In addition, there are already several liquor stores in close proximity to this area and an additional one is not needed.

  • Thank the Senate Appropriations Committee for CA DISCLOSE Act vote!
California is getting ready to strike a blow against Citizens United by passing SB 52, the California DISCLOSE Act, a bill that would shine a bright light on the shadowy interests who depend on secrecy to influence elections. The vote on the Senate floor is next Thursday or Friday. SB 52 (authored by Senators Mark Leno and Jerry Hill, sponsored by the California Clean Money Campaign, and endorsed by over 300 organizations and leaders) would mandate clear and prominent disclosure of who is behind political TV, radio, print, and mass mailer ads - on the ads themselves. SB 52 will stop special interests from hiding behind fake committee names by requiring ads to show their actual original contributors. Our elected officials deserve praise when they stand up for transparency and disclosure as powerful as SB 52, so sign the petition to thank them today!
