Mothers Against Murder In The MediaThis petition will be the beginning of a movement to stop media moguls from saturating television and movie programming with murder and heinous crime themes. Society is being bombarded with murderous themes and images that have direct negative and desensitizing effects, especially on the young. We must demand more and better choices.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by candice c. lytle

No Walmart on Ball Rd Blaine MNThe proposed Walmart on Ball Rd would be on a road that is too narrow to handle 15,000 cars and trucks daily. It would be less than 200 ft away from family homes in a residential neighborhood. Centennial School is within walking distance. Kids walking to school and neighborhood residents will be in harms way because of a lack of sidewalks in the neighborhoods. 24/day operation will create excessive noise and light pollution. Taxes will go up and home property values will go down.334 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Harold "Holly" Hollander

Westowne Elementary Needs Air ConditioningOur school, Westowne Elementary in Catonsville, reaches unsafe and unhealthy temperatures when the weather is hot and humid. The school lacks ceiling fans and windows that open wide enough for air ventilation. The county school system must implement immediate upgrade of climate control measures to protect the health, safety and learning capabilities of our children.642 of 800 SignaturesCreated by China Williams

Reform the Senate Filibuster RulesBecause Senate leadership failed to reform the rules of the filibuster, background checks for firearms sales failed by a majority vote of 54 yea to 46 nay. Sixty votes needed to override the filibuster failed. Government action is being held hostage by this obstructionist procedure called the Senate filibuster. Ninety (90) percent of Americans who want background checks for firearms sales were hurt by the filibuster. It must be reformed!849 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by James Hammond

Nurse Practitioner AutonomySenate Bill 491 will go in front of the Senate Committee on Monday April 22, 2013. If the committee decides to pass it on, then it would go to a vote by the whole senate. I am currently required to have a collaborative agreement with a MD or DO. Obamacare, which is managed care for Medi-Cal recipients run by a private organization, will currently not allow me to contract with them. Therefore, my medi-cal patients will either have to pay out of pocket to see me or go elsewhere for their care. Please contact your state senator and ask them to vote YES on SB 491. The committee members are: Senator Curren Price, JR. (Chair), Senator Bill Emmerson (Vice-Chair), Senator Marty Block, Senator Ellen Corbett, Senator Cathleen Galgiani, Senator Ed Hernandez, Senator Jerry Hill, Senator Alex Padilla, Senator Mark Wyland and Senator Leland Y. Yee. Please contact any or all of these fine senators as well. Thank you.154 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Linda Jo Deegan, FNP-C

Stop the ICE Monster! Stop Deporting our Family Members! Urgent Call to Action! Sign on and tell ...Over 95,000 Californians (that's over sixty people a day!) have been deported under Secure Communities, a federal immigration program designed to meet a federal deportation quota. In order to meet the deportation quota, federal ICE Agents target anybody who they can - including food street vendors and victims of domestic abuse. Why We Want the TRUST ACT to Pass: –The TRUST Act will help stop our family members from being deported. –The TRUST Act will help improve public safety. –The TRUST Act will be a spur for meaningful immigration reform at the national level. –The TRUST Act will help us save valuable local resources. Let’s rebuild trust in our community members and stop police from becoming immigration agents. Let’s keep our families together. Sign the petition and demand Jerry Brown sign the TRUST Act into law. Click here for more background on the TRUST ACT: http://dreamteamla.org/trust-act/ And click here for personal stories of deportations and what to do if a family or community member is put in deportation proceedings: http://www.notonemoredeportation.com/280 of 300 SignaturesCreated by JJ WC

Deaf People Have a Voice TooASL, or American Sign Language, is a great language that is used by people to communicate with the Deaf. This is a form of speech, and with that said is undoubtedly considered a language. Many students are learning ASL in our high school, West Valley at this time. In-fact West Valley is the only school to offer it in our District. However seeing as how the year is wrapping up, the school has been reviewing schedules and what they can cut. Unfortunately they saw American Sign Language as unimportant, and now are not offering it next year. For the students who are taking it (50 and up), they were infuriated. That is why these students are asking you to sign this form, so that ASL isn't taken away from our School.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Caelan
