  • Create A Moratorium On Closing Postal Facilities And Cutting Services Until A Reform Bill Has Bee...
Congress has the responsibility to be a good steward of the US Postal Service as outlined in the Constitution of the United States. This is outlined in Article 1, Section 8, Clause 7. Our founding fathers wrote this in our constitution before the right to build roads, establish armies, navies and the right to declare war. The postal service has already eliminated 193,000 jobs since 2006 and continues to downsize. Currently the postal service employs 109,000 US military veterans. This is over 20% of the postal service career workforce. In this time of great economic recession in America it does not make sense to downsize the postal service as it is profitable the way it is. It simply needs to end the prefunding of retiree healthcare benefits at current levels. Not only are the postal service's retiree healthcare benefits overfunded by billions of dollars, the postal service's retiree annuity contributions to the CSRS and FERS are overfunded by billions of dollars as well. We believe creative accounting practices and bad laws have created this problem. So we ask the President and Congress to make the postal service cease and desist from closing anymore facilities and from cutting service at the post office until Congress passes a post office reform bill.

  • Bill H 3435 Comprehensive Health Education Act
Amendments to Bill H 3435, known as the Healthy Youth Amendment, covers changes to create a more comprehensive health education approach for children at all age levels within the SC public school system. In order to do this teachers and administrators need to be trained on medically accurate information, and have access to evidence-based curricula which would be taught in a consistent manner among all schools in the area. If Bill 3435 is passed, schools will also be held accountable to comply with the law.

  • Repeal the "Monsanto Protection Act" (Section 735 of HR 933)
President Obama signed a spending bill (HR 933) to avoid a government shutdown this week. However, in addition to paying the government's bills for another six months, HR 933 also included a Farmer Assurance Provision ("Monsanto Protection Act") that limits our legal rights while granting big agribusiness like Monsanto sweeping new protections for their little-studied GMO crops. Most notably, the quietly inserted provision strips federal courts of their authority to issue injunctions halting the production of GMO crops, including those known to pose real consumer health risks. And it all happened without a single hearing before the Agricultural or Judiciary Committees. We should not have to choose between a government shutdown and our right to food safety. • Pull Rick Ross and Lil Wayne from Radio Rotation
The questions have been asked, Is Hip Hop Music Destroying America, Is Hip Hop A Threat To Our Children or Should Rappers Be Accountable For Their Lyrics? You be the judge. Earlier this year the song “Karate Chop” leaked online featuring rapper Lil Wayne. He raps, “Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels/Beat that (expletive/woman genital) up like Emmett Till.” A few weeks later a song by rapper Rocko featuring Rick Ross was release called “You Don’t Even Know It.” Rick Ross raps, “Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it/ I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.” Yes, we have our freedom of speech right, but when is freedom of speech taken too far? Many would say both rappers have taken their lyrical content too far and offended too many. The family and estate of Emit Till have released a statement of disapproval over Lil Wayne’s disregard and disrespectful lyrics. Though his record label issued a statement of apology, the rapper has yet to do so. In the case of Rick Ross, his blatant disregard for women and advocacy of date rape. The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that over 300,000 women are raped or sexually assaulted per year in the United States alone. That is a disturbing number and should not be taken lightly. His lyrics not only condone the behavior, but he boasts about it in the song. While some feel it’s only entertainment, many feel it sends and encourages the wrong message. Several individuals and organizations have taken a stand and so are we. Effective immediately, we are requesting WHHH 96.3 to pull ALL music from Rick Ross and Lil Wayne from ROTATION! While we believe in freedom of speech, creative writing and individualism, we refuse to be part of the problem by spreading messages that could harm or end someone’s life.

  • Say NO! To Monsanto Protection Act
By sneaking Section 735 into a federal appropriations bills, Monsanto has successfully planted a dangerous provision in U.S. law that strips judges of their constitutional mandate to protect American's health and the environment while opening up the floodgates for the planting of new, untested genetically engineered crops. Even if their new GMO crops are ultimately proven to be harmful to human health or the environment, Section 735 allows them to be planted the minute the USDA approves them!
