• Tell the L.A. Times and Chicago Tribune owners: "No Sale to the Koch Brothers!"
The Koch brothers are the worst of the worst. Oil and gas billionaires, they're known for funding the Tea Party, buying elections, funding anti-science organizations, union busting, dodging taxes, and twisting democracy any way they can to promote their personal agenda. Now, in a stunning move, according to multiple reports, they want to buy the company that owns the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, and several other big newspapers to further their radical right-wing agenda and move fringe Tea Party ideas into the mainstream. They cannot be allowed to purchase the most respected newspapers in the biggest media markets in the country in order to peddle their discredited ideas and right-wing propaganda. People count on papers like Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune for real facts, real issues, and unbiased information. And newspaper endorsements in local and statewide elections carry substantial clout. The Koch brothers cannot be allowed to control these vital sources of information.

  • Attention Dog Lovers in NYC
Has anyone noticed how many residences are disallowing pets? Older citizens who live alone, and rely on their dogs for companionship and health benefits are being told they may not replace their dogs. After living in the same house for 45 years, with a dog, I've been told I will be evicted if I replace my aging dog when she dies. Now that's plain nasty!

  • Don’t cut services for people with special needs in New York. Restore the 6%.
The Governor’s proposed budget reduces monies for the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities by more than 7% from the 2012 level and imposes a 6% rate cut on non-profit service providers who care for those with special needs- at a cost far below when the state provides the services directly. At the same time, Albany leadership is considering at least $700 million in new tax cuts. The Assembly and the Senate proposed budgets would restore the 6% ($120 million which triggers an equal federal match). Public reports indicate that the Governor will accept the tax cuts but resists restoring the 6%.

  • Isn't it about time for TERM LIMITS?
This must occur at ALL levels of Government both local and federal. Two terms in any elected office. Exceptions could be real jobs like sheriff and fire chief if elected. Do we really need someone in office for 20 years enriching themselves and their associates? All you have to do is examine simple history in your immediate area. This is not an attack on any political party. This could put an end to the type of representation we are experiencing at all levels of Government.

  • NJ Transit Service Problems
This petition is about the out-of-hand service problems with NJ Transit trains and buses. The person at NJ Transit headquarters are adversed to addressing blanket situations which continue to grow and get worse, and are only willing to take individual complaints which have been ineffective. The agency overall has spent more money on image and advertising then proper service facilities and eqiptment. The system is being run poorly to the point where it is affecting the quality of life for many New Jerseyans.
