• Build high-speed rail
People drive up and down the North Dallas Tollway every day from Frisco to Dallas. This wastes gas and time. A train that runs the length of the tollway - stopping in Little Elm, Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Addison, Dallas - would ease congestion and save gas.

  • Standardized Packaging
When you purchase items you want to compare prices and get value for your money. Manufacturers are making that very difficult by changing the amount in the package while making it seem the same. A "half gallon" of orange juice is likely 1.75 liters instead of 1.89 (a true 1/2 gallon). Ice cream is too or even 1.5 liter. Dry pasta is a "pound sized package" with 13.25 ouches. Is a "double roll" of toilet paper a deal when the size of the sheets, number of plies, and sheets per roll are different with each brand? While companies don't like to raise prices, I believe that making it seem your getting the same amount is deceptive and makes comparison very hard. Gasoline prices change daily, but what if the price was the same but you got a smaller amount each time that varied by brand? We need standardized quantities!

  • Repeal 15 USC ยง 7902 - Prohibition on bringing of qualified civil liability actions in Federal or...
Much has been debated around gun safety legislation. All pending legislation attempts to control the acts of individuals while none pursues the manufacturers. I want Congress to repeal the 2005 law immunizing gun manufacturers from product liabilty.

  • Save Our Post Office Colorado
Our goal is to save the U.S. Postal Service from drastic cuts in service. We want the postal service to cease closing mail processing plants. We want the postal service to continue 6 day delivery and we want the postal service to stop closing post offices and cutting retail operating hours. Our goal is to see the dramatic pre payments into retirement accounts to stop and be returned to the postal service. We are proud of our postal network in Colorado and want to keep it the way it is.

  • Workman Compensation in Vermont needs attention
I have been on Workman Compensation for 2 years now, the company that is suppose to work with me to improve my life after an injury is not doing there part to see success. I have always been a hard working Vermonter who takes pride in being a productive member of the working class. I had to sell my home and work in jobs that were not suited for me and my injuries. I believe that Out of State Workman Compensations company should be banned from Vermont. I had no case manager or Nurse to oversee my situation. I have more to share about my situation and would love to have ears that could help me and others in this horrible situation. Thank you Sincerely Pam Provost

  • Raise the Minimum Wage for ALL Workers!
The NY Senate is putting forth an increase in the minimum wage that has left out tipped workers! this leaves out around 50% of minimum wage workers in New York. With some of the worst inequality in the nation, we cannot afford to leave anyone behind in this small victory against income inequality.

  • A Plan for the Cameron Village Vicinity
Raleigh's 2030 goals for sustainable growth call for less sprawl and more compact, walkable growth in redevelopment areas. But this plan can only work if nearby neighborhoods are protected from the density impacts of increased car congestion and the bulk of larger construction. Mitigating these impacts in an area where road widening is constrained by stable neighborhoods will require a predictable plan for (1) contextual infill, (2) upgraded infrastructure and (3) improved mobility options that make it easier accomplish daily activities without driving. Given the high market demand in the Cameron Village Shopping Center area for more compact, walkable development in accordance with Raleigh's sustainable growth goals, the residents, land owners and business owners in the Cameron Village area call on the Raleigh City Council to initiate a detailed plan for sustainable redevelopment and mobility, updating and extending the Vision and Action Items of the Wade-Oberlin Small Area Plan. A Cameron Village Vicinity Plan would: 1. include design concepts for street changes that improve network efficiency and emphasize more mobility options for pedestrian, bicycle and transit access within and beyond the vicinity, 2. apply contextual design elements of the Comprehensive Plan and UDO (both adopted since the Wade-Oberlin Plan) to provide a more predictable blueprint for sustainable redevelopment in the area, and 3. specify near-term and long-term improvements and costs for infrastructure, streetscapes and enhanced transit operations.

  • We need Recess
I'm a student at Carthage Middle School. Everyone here would love to get some free time/recess after lunch, when you finish eating early. Recess helps students develop communication skills, such as cooperation and sharing, and helps counteract the time they spend sitting in class.

  • Canada v God
Back in the "red-scare fifties", Congress added "under God" to the American Pledge of Allegiance. In order to bring reality back to the Pledge, Congress should substitute the word "Canada" for the word "God". I could then honestly recite the Pledge of Allegiance at public meetings without feeling like a hypocrite.

  • DO NOT CUT THE BUDGET FOR HEADSTART AND PUNISH THE PRESCHOOLERS
Our children our future this is espcially true if your a parent its really hard to be a low income parent and to be able to provide your little ones with the same advantages as other kids whose parents are blessed and able to afford to spend money on special preschools or be able to afford medical and dental and be able to make ends meet. Headstart is a blessing for parents whose children are low income our son is in his last year of headstart and they have been a godsend my husband and I are both low income and we are both disabled my husband is a disabled veteran its hard to make ends meet. Our son has thrived at headstart since he is an only child he has been able to make positive and hopefully lifelong friendships with the other kids his age and has learned socialization skils and how to problem solve but he has also learned how to get skills ready for kindergarden he knows his alphabet and counting and I appreciate how they have worked with my son on helping him learn to start writitng and cutting and use his hand muscles he has learned so much he even likes to draw pictures alot better. Even though my son will be starting kindergarden next year it would be heartbreaking too see the budget cuts from the sequester being done on this wonderful program and it would be a big injustice espeially to all the families and decades of children who are living proof of how wonderful headstart has been not only do they help the kids get prepared for kindergarden academically but they also do prevenitve screenings and help kids with any kind of special problems or needs so that they can get that early help for things when its crucial.. My son loves his teachers and all the teachers and the staff at headstart so much and so do us parents they help out with nutrition and teach kids about brushing their teeth and washing hands and give us parents help and the resources to help us transition our kids to kindergarden and to help us with reources so we can help our kids do well for the future. Please do not cut funding to any headstart programs its not right to punish low income preschoolers and their parents who are trying to give them a chance at a good education and a headstart so to speak in life and to help set a positive tone for all of their school years. Please sign this petition if you have been touched by the headstart program whether you are a parent or a kid who was lucky enough to be in headstart or if you work for headstart and if your an educator that knows that the program really does work! Headstart is a really special school for kids and as a parent I feel that it does more for kids than even a preschool that you have to pay for. I am urging all the politicians to put the preschoolers ahead of politics and let the future kids at headstart have a chance to have a real headstart in life too!
