My petition is about saving as many lives as possible by removing them from a hopeless situation in which they should not have been and leaving the Afghans to solve their own problems. We have more than enough of our own problems and some of our citizens now in Afghanistan can be put to work here in helping to solve them. Walmart sells 2 different onesies for infants that have gun advertising on the front. The first onesie has a picture of Popeye with the slogan"Welcome to the Gun Show" and is manufactured by King Features Syndicate and the other onesie has the slogan "is it legal to Carry Guns This Big?", which is manufactured by Faded Glory. I feel that walmart should pull these off the shelves because it is using young children to advertise guns and this is extremely insensitive being that they are the innocent victims.

We should all care about maintaining a separation of church and state, which benefits religious groups by keeping government out of their internal affairs and benefits each of us personally by preventing us from being forced to subsidize religious beliefs or institutions with which we disagree. Also, if our tax money does not go to religious schools (which are constitutionally protected in their right to discrimination and, for example, to teach children that gays and lesbians are undeserving of equal rights), we will have more money for our public schools (which are controlled by us all and cannot legally discriminate).

Let's be sure that everyone has to share in the cuts coming down the line because of the Sequester. Families and communities across the country are looking at cuts in services or possibly loss of a job, so the least that Congress can do is take a cut in their benefits and salary.

SB 754 proposes reasonable changes to PERS and our legislators should fully support the passage of the legislation. SB 754 begins by limiting Cost Of Living Adjustments (COLA’s) to the first $2,000 of monthly retirement benefit payments. SB 754 reforms the common practice known as “spiking,” which inflates the final average salaries of soon-to-retire employee incomes. SB 754 removes the income tax reimbursement bonus for PERS retirees who live outside of Oregon and do not pay Oregon income taxes SB 754 redirects the 6% IAP employee payment (currently paid by the employer for 70% of PERS members), to a new account in the PERS fund for each PERS Tier 1 and Tier 2 member. SB 754 adjusts the anomaly of the PERS “Money Match.” The Money Match is an alternative calculation to the Full Formula annuity. The PERS uncontrolled cost increases are damaging local government and service district’s financial base and will over future years start to cripple their ability to serve residents and tax payers. PERS does not add any value to the taxpayers. Call your Oregon State Senators and Representatives and ask them to stop the uncontrolled PERS cost increases by passing SB 754.

This petition is about phasing out all nuclear power in CA, and never allowing any new nuclear power plants to be built. We live in a state with very active earthquake faults. We live in a state where our nuclear power plants are built along a coast that is part of the "ring of fire" and all around the Pacific Coast are major earthquake faults and volcanoes that can trigger tsunamis. We live in an era of terrorism. None of these facts are compatible with nuclear power and for the protection and safety of all life in this region, we should not take the risk with nuclear power.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is all about fairness for working families. It's the watchdog against predatory and abusive practices by financial institutions. And believe you me, we need a strong watchdog, as we've seen all too clearly. Richard Cordray is eminently qualified for this job. In Ohio, and now on a national level, he has fought fraud and discriminatory practices, taking on the big banks and winning for consumers and taxpayers. Let's tell Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans to move quickly to an up-or-down vote of President Obama's nominee, Richard Cordray, as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Most Citizens make far less than $100,000 a year. No govermental worker of any stripe should earn more via overtime or direct salary than that amount. Honor and Duty should prevail over the absurd income levels of many in the higher reaches of government make as well as those who reach this amount through excessive overtime.
