The Atlanta Veterans Hospital is the busiest in the country. It serves 40,000 veterans. My request is that an additional VA be created to service more veterans because there are veterans that need to get in for appointments sooner than they are able to for serious medical care. This affects me because I too attend that facility as a veteran.

Sadly, we’re being forced out of our home and onto the streets because of one man--Ed DeMarco. Ed DeMarco is the acting director of Federal Housing Finance Agency. With his position at FHFA, DeMarco oversees Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which control more than half the mortgages in the country. DeMarco’s opposition to principal reduction--resetting mortgages to fair market value--is forcing millions of families into foreclosure and blocking our country’s economic progress. Ed DeMarco was appointed by President Bush, but four years later, still works for President Obama. On Tuesday March 19th, Acting Federal Housing Finance Agency Ed DeMarco is testifying before Congress. Will you help me send him a message on Tuesday that he can’t take my family’s home? For years, we faithfully made our monthly payments until we ran into some bad luck. I lost my job and Rosana had to take a leave of absence to care for her mom who was very ill. By the time we both were able to get back to work, we were behind on our monthly mortgage payments. In his position, DeMarco is the boss of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. And no matter how much we tried to negotiate, Freddie Mac refused to any modification of our loan because of Ed DeMarco’s irrational and destructive opposition to principal reduction. Since then, we’ve saved the money to buy back our home with the support of a local non-profit, but Freddie Mac still won’t take our offer. Ed DeMarco is hurting my family and millions of other families and dragging down our country's economic progress. We worked hard to buy this home, and we love our community. Our children deserve better than what Ed DeMarco is doing to them. On Tuesday, we can send the message to Ed DeMarco that he needs to do what's right. Can you join me and tell Ed DeMarco that he can't take my home? We want to be able to pay our mortgage every month and remain in the home and community we love.

The question shouldn't be who is going to pay for it, the question should be WHY DOES IT COST SO MUCH ? As one of the uninsured who pays their medical bills directly, I want fair prices, regardless of who is paying the bill.

Verizon refuses to bring FiOS to Brookhaven Town! There is no competition to Cablevision for telephone,television and internet/data services. Brookhaven residents pay higher rates to Cablevision than residents that live in towns that have FiOS. The digital divide grows! No FiOS means loss of jobs for the members of CWA 1108 in Suffolk! We ALL need FiOS in Brookhaven for good jobs and fair prices!

Lowering the salaries and benefits of elected officials.

Nebraska is wasting millions of dollars and untold human resources annually arresting and incarcerating people for simple possession of marijuana. In 2 states, one right next door, possession is completely legal, and in about 20 others possession is allowed with a prescription. With the astouding cost per prisoner and always needing more prison space and, more money, Nebraska's position on marijuana is costing us more than we, as taxpayers, can afford to pay.

Washington State senators help join other senators in the other states in addressing a solution to military sexual assault within our own ranks, by suggesting legislation to strip military commanders of their power to overturn legal decisions or lessen sentences handed down by judges and juries at courts martial.

People are clear cutting property and leaving behind downed trees,piles of limbs and unwanted wood. Leaving behind eyesores and causing land prices to drop in the area near the cut.Some land owners don`t live near the area thats been cut so they don`t care about the way it affects others.

As a former Ombudsman for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties and as a physician involved in long-term care, I am deeply concerned about legislation that is in committee in the State House to further weaken Nursing Home residents and their families rights to be adequately compensated for injuries caused by neglect by limiting corporate accountability.

Auger's Resort has exceeded their building density and are asking for a zoning change to allow more RV trailers and cabins on their site. The lake association believes that this would negatively impact the lake's quality, and we are opposing the expansion.
