This is important to me because my brother got bullied at our old school for years and nobody did anything about it, not even the teachers standing right there! Not all teachers are like this. Some genuinely don't know about or see bullying happening. So, I feel like teachers should keep a better eye on students. Also, the students around did nothing either. It makes you just as bad as the bully if you see bullying occurring but don't do anything about it.

Even after House members have voted to impeach President Trump, they still have important work to do. Right now, they’re negotiating with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to stop him from rigging President Trump’s impeachment trial for an acquittal. But McConnell can’t stop them from continuing to investigate the White House as a co-equal branch of government. And they can start right now by subpoenaing former National Security Advisor John Bolton -- who said he’d be “prepared to testify” in a Senate trial. Top national security officials have already testified that Bolton, who abruptly left in September, was concerned by Trump’s efforts to strongarm Ukraine by withholding military aid -- allegedly equating the discussions to a “drug deal.” Bolton has firsthand knowledge of Trump’s extortion scheme -- others have testified that he tried to stop it as it happened. It’s possible that he’ll be a big crack in the dam, leading to more and more administration officials coming forward to tell the truth and avoid going down with Trump. A House subpoena is backed by force of law -- and even though Bolton’s lawyers won’t confirm whether he’d testify to the House as well, the House would be within its rights to use any legal means needed to compel his testimony. If you agree that we have a right to hear John Bolton’s potentially damning testimony about Trump, add your name to tell House Democrats to subpoena him.

We need to speak up NOW to stop Senate Republican leadership from rigging President Trump’s impeachment trial. Already, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has told reporters: "I'm not an impartial juror." Meanwhile, Trump is helping multiple Republican senators fundraise for re-election -- in a clear attempt to buy them off too. They might not stop there. If he’s left unchecked, McConnell might even try and rush through the trial -- without calling witnesses, hearing evidence, or letting the American people hear the full case against Trump. We can’t stand for this. Every Senator must stand up for a fair impeachment trial that puts our Constitution and the rule of law front and center. We can’t let Mitch McConnell rig this trial to get Trump off the hook. Add your name today to demand a fair trial!

Our democracy faces an existential threat if Donald Trump is re-elected. The damage he has done during his first term, enabled by feckless Congressional Republicans who put party over country, will take years, if not decades, to undo. Trump has already packed federal courts with right-wing ideologues; fully one in four U.S. circuit court judges have been appointed to lifetime seats by Trump. His Supreme Court picks have moved the high court to the right of ultra-conservative Justice Scalia. It's terrifying to imagine what the federal judiciary would look like after another four years of Trump nominees. It’s expected that during the Democratic primaries candidates will attack their opponents’ platforms; at times the critiques have been mean-spirited and personal and no doubt will continue that way as the competition intensifies. Worse, though, is what’s playing out among the candidates’ core supporters. Examples abound on social media of insults being hurled at one candidate or another by the others’ supporters. That doesn’t bode well for the general election. To defeat Trump in conservative-leaning swing states (the only ones that matter, thanks to winner-take-all and the Electoral College), to hold the Democratic House majority and to flip the Senate, Democrats will need a get-out-the-vote effort the likes of which we’ve never seen. To achieve that will require efforts well beyond what the eventual nominee will be able to muster on their own. But to listen to some activists, if their candidate doesn’t prevail, yes, they’ll vote for whomever is the Democratic nominee, but beyond that the effort they make will be much less than what it would have been. Given what’s at stake, that’s not acceptable. If the losing candidates’ supporters just show up to vote, but do no more, we could lose it all. The only ones who can change this narrative are the candidates themselves. And they can’t wait until after the convention. Democrats can’t afford to let the acrimony between the camps build to the point that the ill will causes any Democratic activist to sit on the sidelines (the way it did in 2016 between Hillary and Bernie supporters.) The way to build party unity is for candidates to keep sending the message to their supporters, “I expect you to work as hard to elect the Democratic nominee, whoever it is, as you will if I win the nomination. Nothing less is acceptable. Do I have your promise that you’re all in, whoever is nominated?” Imagine the power of a huge display of unity at the end of every Democratic nominee's campaign rally. We need nothing less.

Declaring war on a social media platform is an outrage. The actions this President is taking circumvents all forms of checks and balances and directly affect the mental health of millions of users worldwide.

UPDATE 08 January 2020 A Delhi High Court has directed authorities at Delhi’s Tihar prison to provide urgent medical attention to Chandrashekhar Azad. Azad suffers from a blood thickening disease called polucythemia for which he has been receiving treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) since last year. The Delhi High Court’s directive is an important milestone -- the prison officials know very well that continuing to keep Azad in the prison can be life-threatening. Now, even the court has spoken. They must obey the court’s directive. This makes it even more crucial to up the ante on Tihar jail authorities to send Azad to the AIIMS. We mustn’t slack in our efforts to shine a spotlight on this willful denial of medical care to Azad. Azad’s personal doctor Dr. Harjit Singh Bhatti visited him in prison on 2nd January, and shared his concerns about Azad’s deteriorating medical condition in a tweet on 3rd January. He said, “He (Azad) is suffering from a disease which requires biweekly phlebotomy from AIIMS (All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences), New Delhi under Haematology Department from where he is under treatment from last 1 years. If not done then his blood might get thicker which may results into sudden cardiac arrest or stroke”. Despite Dr. Bhatti’s warning, the Delhi Police, and Home Minister Amit Shah refuse to move Chandrashekhar Azad to AIIMS. The authorities in the jail where he is now lodged refuse to acknowledge his medical condition and insist that he is “absolutely fine.” This is an outright violation of the Basic Principles for the Treatment of Prisoners, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Convention for Civil and Political Rights (which India has signed and ratified). Chandrashekhar Azad’s medical condition is rapidly deteriorating, and we fear that without immediate medical attention, as stated by his personal physician, he will die in jail for lack of care. We know that the High Commissioner has been following the civil unrest unfolding in India with respect to the discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act. We appreciate her speaking out about it in the recent past. Now, we need her to intervene immediately to remind the Indian Government to fulfill its obligations under international human rights law. Many municipalities have recently added skateparks to their list of public parks and they are drawing in skaters from all over the tri-state area. Skateboarding is a popular activity that creates community, builds confidence, and gives the younger generations an alternative to playing on their devices inside all day. We love our YMCA skatepark for the beginners looking for guidance and a safe protected area, but having it closed for multiple months out of the year leaves many kids searching for things to do and often skating in areas they are not supposed to be in. By creating a free skatepark that is well designed and a designated skating area we are keeping kids safe and allowing them to do what they love. Aside from giving the skaters a place to go we are also promoting community growth. The restaurants and shops of town will benefit from having a young generation looking to spend more time in town. Currently, many kids leave town to skate in the surrounding area parks of Ambler, Wrightstown, Falls Township, Warminster, Philadelphia, and a growing list of many more. We have an opportunity to give our kids a place here in Doylestown so we can keep them close to home and a place to be proud of.
