Statute 85.007 stipulates that any materials in HIV education programs for individuals under 18 years of age must state that homosexual behavior is not an acceptable form of behavior. Placing this requirement in training materials encourages a culture of hate and intolerance towards the LGBT community and has no place in our State's statutes. We call on the State legislature to remove this language from statute 85.007.

Losing 16 hrs per pay period even at a short time furlough will hurt tremendously for most and could lead the employee to being a credit risk and lose a job. First Federal workers are already hit with higher costs of health care premiums, pay freezes, higher taxes, higher gas prices, rent and cost of living. I know numerous teenagers from age 18 and under who have had consensual sex with people under their age and have been involved in "sext messages". These are teenagers who are just begining their lives and make mistakes they will later frown upon in their later years. They should not be punished with a Felony or a lifetime registration as a "Sex Offender". All teenagers make mistakes and deserve a second chance.

California is the largest producer of food in the U.S. In 2011, the state's 81,500 farms and ranches had sales of $43.5 billion. What happens to our food if we frack and poison the groundwater that irrigates California’s farms? In a move that a federal judge says violated environmental law, the U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has already auctioned off 1,750 square miles of California’s public lands to oil companies intent on extracting oil, using a controversial technology called hydraulic fracturing – or fracking. In May, the BLM plans to auction off even more of California’s Monterey Shale, a geological formation that extends from northern California to Los Angeles, and is home to cattle ranches, dairy farms, vineyards and organic farms. Fracking and farms cannot co-exist, as we’ve heard over and over from farmers in Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Dakota, West Virginia and Colorado. Farmers whose lives and farms have been ruined by fracking’s methane emissions and toxic chemicals. As one farmer explained, “We depend on good water for our cows, our crops and our own health. Once you mess up your groundwater, you can’t fix it.” The oil and gas industry argues that it’s fine to pump huge amounts of cancer-causing chemicals deep into the earth, because we’ll never use that water. U.S. environmental regulators agree – which is why fracking is exempt from the Safe Drinking Water Act, and why the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued more than 1,500 permits for companies to pollute aquifers in some of the country’s driest regions. But as our population grows, and temperatures rise, we may find ourselves doing what Mexico City has already been forced to do: drawing water from mile-deep aquifers that until now would not have been tapped for drinking water. We all depend on California for our food. California’s unique Mediterranean climate allows the state to grow over 450 different crops. Some of these crops are exclusive to California: almonds, artichokes, dates, figs, kiwifruit, olives, persimmons, pomegranates, pistachios, prunes, raisins, clovers, and walnuts. Fracking is bad for our water, bad for our air, bad for our health, bad for the climate. Without clean air and clean water, there are no farms. Without farms, there is no food. Please sign this petition to the Bureau of Land Management asking officials there to stop auctioning off California’s public lands for fracking.

The artifacts of the Charles Van Damme including the Paddle Wheel and Steam Stack are the last existing historical representation of the ferryboat history in Marin county. For 97 years it has generated a wealth of local maritime and cultural history. Due to construction at it's current site at Waldo Point, Gate Six Road Sausalito - it is in danger of being destroyed this spring (by May 2013) It needs to be recognized for its historical and cultural importance and protected, allowing it to be moved it to a place for restoration and eventually returned to Waldo Point's finished public park to educate and inspire future generations to come.

To propose a less violent culture for our children and our nation

We oppose the disclosure of confidential student information to a private corporation called inBloom, Inc. by JeffCo Public Schools and the Colorado Department of Education. This highly sensitive information, which will include students’ names, addresses, test scores, grades, attendance, economic, health and special education status, and detailed disciplinary records, will be stored in a vulnerable “data cloud” and made available to vendors, to help for-profit companies develop and market their learning products. This unprecedented sharing of children’s confidential information is scheduled to occur before the 2013-2014 school year; it is happening without the notification or consent of parents. There are huge risks involved in this violation of our children’s privacy, including potential data leaks. Until the school district and/or state holds public hearings to fully explain the purpose of this project, the safeguards that will be put in place, and provides parents with the right to consent, this unethical disclosure of confidential data must cease.
