Beverages with added sugar/corn syrup such as soda are a serious public health issue, resulting in obesity, poor nutrition and tooth decay. A tax on them would discourage their consumption, especially among lower-income individuals and families. It is not a regressive tax as no one is forced to pay it, and public health will improve if people choose to avoid the tax by not buying these beverages.

The United States incarcerates more people, by all measures, than any other country in the world. State correctional systems and for-profit prisons create financial incentives for local sheriff and police departments to keep prisons full, and the economic and sociological impact of having 2.2 million men and women behind bars is profound. The GEO Group, which runs a network of private prisons, is about to become the namesake of Florida Atlantic University's football stadium. The GEO Group should be prevented from advertising their business this way.

Yes my husband is one of 26 imate at the present moment to be up for excuation at this present momenti in South Florida. Mr. Howell is yet to get a fair appeal by far, but at this present moment they have my husband up to be exuceted on 2/26/2013 with no proper appeal. Please take a look into the matter

State Representatives receiving $175.00 a day( per diem) for going to Harrisburg to do their job! This is an outrage and should stop!

I am an 8 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. I currently hold an MBA compliments of the Veterans Administration. Many Corporations hire and train their personell, even sponsoring visas to make this happen. Once educated, they don't typically let those people walk out the door to work elsewhere. I wonder why our government is doing just that? Government dollars are spent on educating veterans but where's the Return on Investment for the investors? From an MBA standpoint, I could never pass this investment through any board of directors in any Corporation. If we're so interested in running our government like a corporation, we must first secure our Return on Investment. I mean hiring veterans after we've trained them. I currently work in the public sector and I must compete for jobs against applicants who had the luxury of remaining at home and improving their job skills while I was stationed overseas, going without many basic necessities and suffering without my family; this includes a 10 month old daughter who I didn't get the pleasure of seeing until she was 5 years old. As working-aged Veterans are becoming a smaller portion of our population, we can offer them more preference in selection for public jobs. We earned it; many of us are disabled and don't have the advantage of accepting high paying, laborous jobs. Therefore, we should have greater preference in those jobs we can do. Please help us! Medicare waste and abuse!

Our goal is to save the U.S. Postal Service from drastic cuts in service. We want the postal service to cease closing mail processing plants. We want the postal service to continue 6 day delivery and we want the postal service to stop closing post offices and cutting retail operating hours. Our goal is to see the dramatic pre payments into retirement accounts to stop and be returned to the postal service. We are proud of our postal network in Ohio and want to keep it the way it is.

We have heard story after story of US Veterans not getting the benefits they were promised. President Lincoln started the VA to provide care for our soldiers, and the current Veterans Admininstration is failing to meet that promise - and it's gotten worse not better. When a company fails to provide the service it promises, it's a sign of bad management. I'm urging the President to fire the top administrators of the VA and get in new people who can do the job. There are plenty of national companies that serve their clients - the VA must do a better job and the only way I can see that happening is to fire the people at the top and bring in people who will make the system work the way it's supposed to!

On Friday February 15th, a 6th grade student entered Clayton Middle School with a .22 cal hand gun with bullets. Parents were not told what happened till the media got involved. Please sign this petition demanding we be heard in an open meeting, where they give us a chance to speak about this issue and our upset.
