After I was the victim of domestic violence, my abuser was not prosecuted because my local law enforcement chose not to follow the Illinois Domestic Violence Act guidelines and refused to take any actions preventing further abuse. The police decided to ignore my case, which did lead to further abuse, and there is nothing I can do because they have the right not to act. It is unacceptable to allow abusers get away with violence because the police can hide behind immunity. That's why I created a petition on SignOn.org to the Illinois Legislature and Governor Pat Quinn, to fix the loophole that allows police to choose to not fully follow the Illinois Domestic Violence Act.

Capt. John Cota has been blamed for causing the worst oil spill in San Francisco Bay in two decades when he crashed the cargo ship Cosco Busan into a tower of the Bay Bridge in 2007. He has sued the U.S. Coast Guard in an effort to regain his mariner's license so he can sail again. He should not be allowed back on the water because of the damage he has done to this ecosystem.

For far too many years people have worked in California without paying State Income Taxes who claim to live out of state. California looses billions in unpaid taxable income.

I'm concerned that people have lost their way in this world especially in the united states where they decided to take prayer out of the schools. i believe that we should get prayer back in the school. let us focus on one our amemndments "Freedom of Religion." i don't believe people are given the opportunity to practice that phrase. especially when they can't brethe a word of prayer in school. but whenever something tragic happens they are ready to call on God and ask america to pray. we need the prayer back in the school.

I think that each person either disabled or an indiviaual shall have health care. For the following reasons, they shall have health care: for there own good and also for there personal needs.

For four years in a row, the governor has used a "Gap Elimination Adjustment" to remove millions of dollars in "promised" State Aid to public schools in New York. What's worse is that this adjustment is not based on community wealth factors so poorer schools get hurt more than wealthier schools.

Hospitals and out-patient clinics are drastically underfunded in Idaho. I have. 23 years experience as a psychiatric nurse and I have watched the revolving door for admissions spin faster and faster because of inadequate funding for out-patient services. Mental illness is on the national radar right now and this presents a chance for Idaho to lead on this issue.

There were over 400 represented workers now we are down to about 121 total, which includes, SAS, technicians and our SOSC group. The work is now being done by a company called Stream overseas.

Since people sprinkle rock salt on sidewalks, it can damage the pads on the bottom of a dog's paws. As a result, the dog may lick the harmful salt from its paws resulting in burns to its mouth and throat. Repeated ingestion of rock salt can also lead to kidney problems or pancreatitis.

I believe it is time for us to have a federal policy, applicable to all states and territories, concerning background checks for the purchase of any firearm. Leaving it to the states alone creates too many loopholes.

Rick Brattin is proposing Intelligent Design/Creation be required teaching and given equal time in every science classroom in Missouri, including college level classes, prohibiting families from making their own choice. This will also require the schools to spend money on new text books on or including Intelligent Design. Tell the MO Legislature NO on HB 291.
