• Divest Washington State of fossil fuel investments
The climate is changing rapidly and irrevocably. Fossil fuel companies ALREADY have the rights to more than enough carbon-based fuels to drive our planet past any possibility of recovery if they are burned. It is economically short-sighted and morally wrong for our state to invest in companies whose business model is incompatible with a sustainable planet.

  • Protect our Arctic Ocean
As the Inupiat, of the Arctic Coast, have relyed upon the bounty for thousands of years. The ocean is our garden and our people continue to live in harmony. The polar bears, whales, fish, seals, sea birds, walrus and other creatures are apart of us and we need our foods to be healthy. Decisions to drill in the Arctic have met with serious flaws and failures. We are holding the Obama administration accountable. We will stand to defend the integrity of the Arctic Ocean from drilling. We urge you to create a comprehensive management and conservation plan before any further steps toward drilling are approved in this fragile ecosystem.

  • Dollar a year bus leasing must end!
The NJTRANSIT leases half it's fleet for 1 dollar per bus per year to a few private companies in the best high paying areas. This is no way to keep costs for taxpayers and riders down. If this isn't mob corruption, then what is it?

  • Save our Sand Bottomed POOLS!
Walsh Pool is a gem of a medium sized sand bottomed pool in Fair Lawn, NJ. During the more than twenty years that I have lived here, it was always my family's pool of choice in Fair Lawn. To destroy it, no matter how great the plans, is senseless since whatever is being contemplated in its place can just as easily be built on public lands elsewhere.

  • Term Limits on MD State Legislature
Long standing members of the General Assembly control many aspects of all Marylanders' lives, in all districts, even though the majority have never voted for or against their continuance in office. Our local representatives are powerless against the entrenched political machine. Term limitations will help ensure such vast power does not become concentrated in individuals who were not directly elected by those upon whom their actions effect.

  • Medical Treatment for Battered Women
In Tennesse, a battered woman must name her batter before reccieving medical care. I am an artist and anthropolgist that learned about the plight of battered women doing a course on battered women at the University of Tennesse at Chattanooga. I have followed this terrible action on women since that time. Bills introduced in the past have failed in the State House in TN. The government must realized that abused women personality change as they are abused, and they tend to fault themselves plus more women are killed by their abuser. Yes, an attempt was made by a person to abuse me, but I was strong enough to escape because I realized the consquences. Silverrene Roundtree

  • Bipartisan Way to Reduce Gun Violence
The debate on what to do about guns is rancorous and politically log-jammed. Remember the saying "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns"? Let's address THAT issue in a way that everyone, including the NRA, will agree can help.

  • Institute age requirement of 16 in order to have a social media account
Kids are being negatively effected by social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) everyday. I am a guidance counselor and I see students everyday who are harrassed or made to feel less than they are on these sites. Kids under 16 are not emotionally equipped to deal with these pressures and the negativity they are faced with on these site. Many parents do not monitor their own child's sites for appropriateness and children can easily be publicly humiliated. It is heartbreaking to see children in the news who commit suicide due to online bullying. These sites need to be regulated like alcohol and driving. It is a danger to our young kids well being and self esteem.
