We are a group of DC students who have an intense personal interest in reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act. We come from a variety of backgrounds--we are feminists, gay rights supporters, immigrant rights supporters, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, friends or family of survivors, and certified domestic violence advocates. We are united because we recognize that domestic violence is a serious problem that requires serious actions on our campuses and in this country.

As a former educator, I realize the impact and importance of early education. Children who are prepared for school excel from the start. I was able to pay for my children's early education. But, what about those who don't have funds for that or don't consider it important? Hawaii needs to improve their national rating of public education from #46 to #1. Please support early education for 4 year old Hawaii keiki.

SNAP provides financial assistance for purchasing food for no and low income people living in the U.S. Most drug convicted felons are unable to find employment and ARE NOT ELIGIBLE for SNAP based on thier backgrounds. This is highly discriminatory because MURDERERS, CHILD MOLESTERS, CHILD KILLERS, THIEVES AND BANK ROBBERS - ALL WHO ARE FELONS - can receive SNAP! HUNGER IS NOT A CRIME AND IT DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE! The PREDOMINANCE OF DRUG OFFENSE ARE PEOPLE OF COLOR, thus disproportionately affecting an already disenfranchised population. I believe that if you meet the POVERTY GUIDELINES - ANYONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO EAT.

The New Woman All Woman Center as of Jan 18,2013 have started procedures to try an reopen their doors . This is an abortion clinic that was shut down in 2012 for not complying with state law for safety & care. The Alabama Department of Health forced them to close and now the owner has turned over the rights for operation to new management.

It has been proposed that an extra mileage tax be assessed on newer more fuel efficient cars, to offset the declining revenues from gas taxes. That would be a sadly counterproductive measure, in terms of the bigger more important picture of protecting and cleaning up our environment. People who reduce their gas consumption, either through fewer miles driven, or more fuel efficient vehicles, should be rewarded for their contribution, not penalized.

Let's put visible, functional and aesthetically-pleasing solar panels on the south lawn of the White House! We have just four short years until a new President is sworn in, one who may not share our commitment to sustainable energy sources or honor our promise to respond to the threat of climate change! GOVERMENT TO LARGE FROM GRASS ROOTS TO WASHINGTON

The last legislative session passed a provision that charges 6% compound interest on deferred property taxes for low income disabled and seniors. The average mortgage now is 3.5 simple interest. This is unjust. The way to intergenerational wealth is real property ownership. I am a woman who has been paid 77 cents on the dollar my whole life. So is my daughter. I want to be able to leave something to her and my son. This measure is a low income land grab by the State of Oregon. Looks like Old England.

State and county employees have not gottten a raise in Six years and COLA has been diminished while the cost of living is increasing and our salaries stay stagnant even at times decreasing and THE Senate Bill 2100 made things even worst which on 1/7/2013 , The Supreme court of Florida agreed with our arguments this bill was unfair and unjustifiable but do to the red tape of legalities we the Employees were shot down again. "THIS CANNOT CONTINUE TO BE INGONORED NOT BY US COUNTY AND STATE EMPLOYEES OF FLORIDA, ABIDING TAXPAYERS AND CITITZENS OF THIS GREAT NATION AND ESPECIALLY NOR BY OUR STATE AND AND FEDERAL BODIES OF GOVERNMENT"

Dear Mr. President, I strongly believe in the REPEAL of the second amendment, this country can not handle gun ownership like other civilized countrys and I say to the sportsmen who hunt to take up fishing; It is alot harder to be a mass murderer with a fishing pole than it is with a gun.....Sincerly...Joe Modero

Instead of giving takes breaks which effects everyone differently, we should be giving a yearly pay out to each legal North Dakota Citizen of the same amount.

The Wild Hare (formerly housed in Chicago's Wrigleyville neighborhood) is not only a great source of entertainment for an untapped audience, but a staple and tourist attraction for the city. Many became familiar with the Reggae nightclub bar & lounge by way of the movie Love Jones; others, because of its incredible live shows, friendly staff and peaceful atmosphere. The Wild Hare was/is one of the only homes for live Reggae concerts. The Wild Hare is running out of time, and without live performances, running out of money. Many Chicago residents were devastated when this staple first closed its doors and so happy to see them back. Now... we might loose them again... indefinitely.
