In the next few months, Congress is going to debate some incredibly important issues, like the debt ceiling, mandatory budget cuts, and a possible government shutdown. Republicans have made it clear they will fight to cut domestic spending and the Social Security and Medicare I've worked for and paid into all my life. Barney Frank has never been afraid of a fight, and if appointed to the Senate to replace John Kerry, he won't back down in defending working families and seniors like me.

In light of the recent tragedy in Connecticut, the safety of our children in schools should be a top priority. School security must be reevaluated. This petition advocates that the Orange School District consider and implement additional security measures to protect our children, including the fortification and/or re-design of entryways, improvement of emergency response systems, and the hiring of additional security personnel.

We are at a crossroads where the president has another fight with the OBSTRUCTIONISTS in the KKK TEA PARTY and GOP about raising the Debt Ceiling. We would like the president to use the power of the 14th amendment and avert this altogether and do whatever he feels necessary to get this country working again.

I am a middle school teacher in a school that is unsecured. Our county and state has limited funds to make our schools safer. This is a plea to gun manufacturers to make guns safer.

Cooperation, Community, Participation, Shared Sacrifice, Broad life experience, all strengthen both the individual and the groups to which we belong. Citizens of the United States are part of a group to which we owe allegiance, duties, and responsibilities. Many of us have strengthened ourselves and our country by volunteering for such organizations as the military, the Peace Corps, VISTA, Doctors without Borders, World Vision, the Red Cross, local volunteer fire departments, etc. We would all benefit if such efforts were greatly expanded by offering volunteers appropriate benefits as living allowances, deferral/reduction of student loans, medical coverage, college credits towards professional licenses, social security credits, etc. The value of such benefits should be proportional to length and type of service. Such benefits and opportunities for service might be especially suitable for people near the beginning or end of their normal working career. Organizations for volunteer service need not be federally run, but would exchange federal support for some federal supervision in the same way that tax exempt charities must observe certain regulations.

We Fans - your audience - believe that the Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness part of the US Constitution should apply to the personal and private lives of Celebrities as well as to our own. A request for Hollywood Gossip Media publishers, editors, paparazzi and reporters to voluntarily upgrade their own industry standards to 21st Century Worldwide ethics.

Facebook has become a cultural norm for teenagers. Kids spend all of their free time on the computer instead of developing personal relationships, or other creative healthy pastimes; and it creates a footprint that could be damaging to them in the future in ways they cannot possibly understand (because we don;t know how all that info is even being used right now..).

President Obama, our government, and especially our banking system has done nothing to help the 15 million underwater homeowners in this country, who simply bought at the wrong time and have fallen victim to Wall Street's manipulation of housing and the financial system. Folks like me are pouring money into a house that won't have any value for a decade or more. Our only option is to strategically default and be foreclosed upon because the banks will not work with us. Please write down the principal of these homes so that we can stay in them and are motivated to take care of them and our community.

Stop the attacks on Social Security and Medicare.
