We, the citizens of the world, recommend that President Obama work with the United Nations and other international Organizations to: 1.Make sure fundamental rights of all children on this planet regardless of race or creed are respected e.g. access to health services, food and education. 2.Work on and promote programs for a nuclear free world, addressing climate change and international peace.

For a long time, presidential elections have been decided by the electoral college, a group of people in each state which is "supposed" to vote for the people. However, we cannot trust the electoral college properly. While state electors are supposed to vote for what the people decide, they are not required to do so. Furthermore, it does not truly represent the people. This was evident in the 2000 presidential elections when George Bush defeated Al Gore not with the popular vote but with the consent of the electoral college. I propose that we change the system so that the preference of each state's candidate is decided by the people's votes only, not by these electors. The United States could easily increase government openness if it decided it's president by the popular vote. After all, we are not in the 18th century anymore where every decision is brought to Washington by horses. The presidential elections is a people election. The people should have the power to elect their leader, therefore I suggest we abolish the electoral college and decide election by the popular vote. In addition, we would still keep things like the electoral map as means to ease the process of keeping track to whose winning and whose losing.

Just a test to see what this is all about

Time is running out in the Illinois House to pass a common sense bill that would allow 250,000 immigrants to apply for driver's licenses. SB 957 has already been passed by the Senate, and Governor Quinn has said he'll sign it. But the legislature adjourns tomorrow, which means the House must pass the bill RIGHT NOW. The bill allows Illinois immigrants to apply for driver's licenses--which will allow them to get to work, go to the doctor's office, and take care of their families, without the fear of deportation. And it requires that ALL Illinois motorists be tested, registered, licensed, and insured--making Illinois roads safer for all drivers. Time is running out. Help turn this bill into law by using this form to tell Illinois lawmakers to pass the immigrant driver's license bill today.

President Obama has nominated former Senator Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense. As Secretary of Defense, Hagel will work to end the war in Afghanistan, cut the Pentagon budget, and prevent war with Iran. Cutting the Pentagon and foreign wars will free money for domestic needs, like preventing cuts to Social Security and Medicare benefits. Right-wing pro-war groups are working to block the Hagel nomination. Urge your Senators to speak up for and vote to confirm President Obama's nominee, Chuck Hagel.

We need the Honorable Raul Grijalva to be the next U.S. Secretary of the Interior. Why? Because Congressman Grijlava (D-AZ) and I share a common vision of the "big wild." My children should not feel as if they will get in trouble if they pray at school. The majority of the school populations are of Christian background; however, students should be allowed to exercise their right to pray if they choose to. With the recent Sandy Hook tragedy, our students and educators need spiritual protection as well as police protection.

Convert pistols and rifles from their ancient mechanical/chemical operation to electro-mechanical/chemical operation, introducing safeguards which will prevent their unauthorized or inappropriate firing.

We are asking all members of Congress to do more to protect our citizens, especially our children, from tragedies like the ones in Newtown, Columbine High School massacre, Colorado movie theater shooting and sadly the list goes on.

Some American Citizens decided to sign on a petition to the White House to deport CNN British anchor Piers Morgan. He has been actively using his airtime to promote gun regulation particular only to semi/full automatic weapons such as the ones used at Sandy Hook Elementary. For this, he has been accused of wanting to prevent American citizens from their second amendment right: the right to bear arms.

We need Amendment 43 (definition of a marriage as being only between one man and one woman) repealed. Colorado is not a backwards state, and we do not have a record of being on the wrong side of history.

Oregon and New Jersey are the only 2 states that do not allow the motor vehicle consumer to pump their own gasoline. These laws forbidding self-service gasoline are outdated and not sound. There is no constitutional basis to restrict the self servicing of one's gasoline tanks. Repeal these restrictions on Pumping Your Own Gasoline.
