I AM A SENIOR AND THE EFFECTS UPON ME AS WELL AS OTHERS WILL BE CATASTROPHE. I RECEIVED A SOC SEC BUMP OF $30 FOR 013 AND MY INSURANCE PREMIUMS BUMPED MORE THAN THAT. YOU'RE WELCHING!!

Proposed cuts to Social Security would be devastating to those among us who can least afford it. Tell Harry Reid and the Democrats in Congress that it is unacceptable to allow cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid as part of any debt/budget negotiations.

In the wake of the Connecticut massacre, it is time for the country to get behind sane and responsible laws regarding the use of firearms. There is no need for automatic weapons or large clips of ammunition. We can get this done.

Children's Mental Health is the base cause of the Newtown tragedy. Access to certain types of weapons is a means, an enabler and tightening that will help. But to really do something lasting and have a greater impact on the problem, addressing inadequacies in the Children's Mental Health System is essential.

Have paid into Social Security and Medicare for many years and now, to be told we can't have our benefits any longer! Seniors can barely make ends meet as it is!

These Social Security cuts will affect myself and so many other people like me and I am asking the President and Congress to oppose this movement on the broad side forever. People work their whole life and if they get to receive their Social Security benefits after 30 or more years of hard work. This is such a heart breaking feeling to many of us in this situation because benefits for Congressional folks is a no brainer. They are able to retire almost at a bat of an eye and God only knows what else are the benefits they get that is not mentioned or said. It is really sad that no one really cares about other people today and especially the ones that made it to the top. Well, we all can not make it to the top some one has to be at the bottom. Please make it better for us as a whole. Politicals already have their money in place and have nothing to worry about as far as income, but on the other hand we do. I hope someone cares. Please try to be good to other people, even if you don't know them. We get stuck sometimes on people we know and the people you don't know we have a good heart too. Merry Christmas to All!!

President Theodore Roosevelt was one of the foremost people to envision a need for a system that would aid America's older citizens, particularly after a major catastrophe such as the Great Depression." Sixty+ years ago, at the insistence of my parents, I applied for and received my Social Security card. I signed it at an age when I knew nothing of how to properly sign such an important document so I signed it "Tommy Kelly." Fifty years later that original card was stolen from me. Please don't steal what I paid into and whatever is left.

I have just partially retired from my job and my social security will begin next month, and I am totally dependent upon these 2 sources of income to make ends meet. I worked alot of years paying into the system, in fact much more than I shall be receiving by comparison, and I totally object to the cutting down people's social security due to the fact that there was never any cuts while the Government was receiving our pay in to this fund.

Social Security is not the place to take money to make up for the Fiscal Cliff or the deficit.

THE AMERICAN PUBLIC HAS HAD ENOUGH! THE HEARTBREAK OF NEWTOWN, CONN. IS A NATIONAL HEARTACHE. TAKE ACTION NOW. HOW MANY MORE INNOCENTS NEED TO DIE?

Those of us who have paid our entire lives into Social Security should not have our Social Security used as a bargaining chip with the Republicans. Leave the Social Security account alone. Tax the rich once and for all. If the Republicans are not open for ANY negotiation, it's time to get some other parties started in our government, like the other countries. We in the middle class need the Social Security benefits to survive. Float bonds, high interest Treasury Bills, other investments, and force taxes for the rich. Be creative and find other means and bring back employment to this country.

I am an unemployed 56-year-old who can not find a job, which forces me to use my 401K money to pay my mortgage. Cutting social security will be devasting when I do retire. But my vote still counts.
