There is no need for assault weapons in everyday life. When the 2nd amendment was crafted we had muskets that fired 1 or 2 shoots, not assault weapons that can kill 20-30 people at one time. The military, swat teams, etc... should be the only ones to have them. Then lock them up when they are done. We have all been affected by what has been happening in this country.

Horror stories of serious illness, contamination of air and water, presence of toxic chemicals in animals which may make it into the food we eat, corruption of agencies which are not releasing adequate water sample information to affected citizens are coming out of Pennsylvania and North Dakota where large scale fracking is underway. President Obama is encouraging this and wants to begin exporting natural gas. France, Ireland and the state of New York currently have bans on fracking. Fracking should be banned in this country until the health impacts have been thoroughtly studied and documented. there is a lot of violence in america and guns are involved. the fact that guns are involoved does not mean that guns are the problem. People are the problem. If we take guns away from decent people the only ones that will have guns are the ones that do things like this.Please do not let people use tragedy as a platform for their personal agenda.

After what happen in connecticut,i feel like that there should be no more guns only for cops and important members of the government.no more selling guns in black friday sales or anywhere.

This petition is about holding our legislators accountable for the safety of their constituents in protecting them from gun violence and death. Currently, the NRA and other gun lobby groups are contributing to our elected officials, despite the fact that most people disagree with this condition. In light of the most recent shooting spree in Newtown, CT, we see this as a most pressing issue. We demand our legislators refuse to accept campaign funds from the gun lobbies, and especially, the NRA.

At the community level an assault rifle is a weapon of mass destruction. I would like to see fewer guns on our streets, and fewer opportunities for those with mental health needs to slip through the cracks.

We cannot allow the slaughter of innocent lives any longer. There must be tighter gun control at the federal level. We do not need to have assault weapons and arsenals of ammunition so easily available.
