• Do not cut Social Security & Medicare Benefits
The fiscal cliff which resulted in saving Wall Street bankers should not now penalize Main Street and retirees under the guise of compromise. Extending retirement age whilst ensuring the banks can continue business as usual is an insult to humanity. Do not allow the money we've all contributed all our lives to be affected by a "compromise" to a mess the Government itself created.

  • Congress Should Pay
Instead of cutting Social Security, how about they take the pay of the Congressmen. The people who receive Social Security worked their whole lives and they are fed up with all the talk about taking their only source of income.

  • No Social Security Cuts
It has been reported that President Obama has made a compromise offer to Representative Boehner to offer cuts to Social Security. While not yet a retiree, these cuts would negatively affect my financial security as I have no pension and like most people, my 401K is, and has been dramatically diminished due to the greed of Wall Street sharks.

  • Save Social Security Now
We all have family members who would be hurt by any reduction in Social Security benefits. I also speak for my own situation. It is unthinkable to have worked so hard for President Obama to be re-elected and then find out that these benefits have been put on the table. They should not have anything to do with our fiscal cliff and debt ceiling issues. We implore you to remove these from any compromises. You owe it to the American people to keep your word.

  • Stop Social Security Cuts
We have paid all of our working llives into Social Security so that when we retire, we would have some sort of income to help with medication, food and living expenses. To do any cut to Social Security would be detirmental to our lives. We have worked hard for this. Leave it alone.

  • Increase Taxes on Firearms for State Social Programs
I have started a petition on We the People via Whitehouse.org to increase already existing taxes on firearms and ammo to specifically raise funds for state safety, education, and mental health programs. We need 150 signatures for it to be published on Whitehouse.org's We the People site and then 25,000 in 30 days for the administration to review it. Link is here: http://wh.gov/nTrv

  • Safety for Oregonians
This latest shooting in Connecticut of innocent children and adults is horrible. It's going to take mothers to sign this petition to get Congress to once again ban assault weapons and also provide funding for mental health so that these troubled angry shooters get help before they go on another rampage. I want to see millions of mothers (and dads) sign this petition. This senseless violence has to stop.

  • No Cuts to Medicare or Social Security
Cuts to social security and Medicare will impact millions of retirees and disabled citizens like myself at a time when we have already given so much in the midst of this failing economy. We cannot afford more cuts to the programs we rely upon for our future retirement and health care. We paid in and we should be entitled to what was promised. Stop waste and abuse within these two programs and there will be no need to make cuts that will hurt everyone who depends upon the programs

  • Please no cuts to Social Security
Please, no Social Security cuts. I retired at 62 and now barely keep afloat on Social Security checks. Living in NYC and getting $839.00 a month is already next to impossible when you don't have enough savings. By my calculation I will draw all my savings in 3 years. What am I supposed to do, beg on the streets?

  • Social Security is a contractual insurance for working class Americans.
Cuts to our insurance breaks faith with generations. The word entitlement has been used to confuse us while the Congress and President rob us. We expect you to honor the real interests of people, not corporations and the 1%.

  • Wal-Mart Suspend Assault Rifle Sales
In the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook, Dick's Sporting Goods has suspended sales of some assault rifles, but Wal-Mart spokesperson David Tovar says, "We have not made any changes to the assortment of guns we sell." Please ask Wal-Mart to prioritize respect and safety over profit.
