The state of Louisiana is considering a budget that would eliminate all Hospice care to people covered by Medicaid and ending a program that largely uses federal welfare dollars to provide unique mental health treatment to very young children. More than 5,800 people received Hospice care through Medicaid in 2012. Eliminating the Early Childhood Supports and Services program will save the state only $134,000 for a program which receives a $2.7 million federal match.

Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform. in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

I am quickly reaching retirement age, and with having worked independently my whole life, I only have social security to depend on for funds with which to retire. The re-directing of social security funds to counterbalance previous inappropriate legislative financial and corporate mistakes are an overt insult to the American people and are tantamount to the federal felony of grand theft.

Congress: Cut your own spending (e.g., staff, pension, and medical plan) and adopt Social Security and Medicare for yourself just as the people you represent. Lead by example.

Congress has become an organization that works for itself as an elite membership, sometimes for life, instead of working for the interest of the American people who have elected them. We need to let them know who is, and should be, in control.

During the last election, dark money flooded the state, especially for the US senate race. Many of these contributions were made by non-profits that do not have to disclose their donors. I propose that any entity that spends more than $25,000 on political ads in our state must disclose their donors.

We can barely make it with Social Security and certainly do NOT need any cuts anywhere.

We, The People, can provide Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren. It's up to us!

any new gun control laws consider a tax on bullets. $1 per bullet - imagine the revenue! We could use that for health care. Numbers are difficult but a quick search is about 2+ billion bullets per year in the US not including exports. Even if its on “magnum” or bullets over X power or grains.

Nearly forty three trillion dollars of US assets have been deposited in Caribbean banking havens, much of t money held in so called estate and gift planning trusts. On much of this money, income tax has never been paid to our US Treasury, while the beneficiaries consume unimaginable amounts of Federal Government services, both personally and commercially. While advocates for the mega-rich continue to spin the alleged fiscal cliff as an event that threatens us as badly as Dan Quayle's asteroids or the Mayan end of the world, and other fifth columnists such as 'No Labels" try to intimidate and trick moderates and independnts into 'bipartisan' support for a Grand Deal that stnds only to benefit the wealthy and their bought and paid for advocates adn politicians, the rest of us face yet another challenge to our ability to be happy, prosper, and enjoy any of the goods one may win in the US and to have even a minimally decent lifestyle. So why not tax this Ill Gotten Gain at a fair rate? Even a ten percent flat amnesty penalty on it allowing the net money to be on-shored agian would pretty much pay off the deficit?
