• john boehner
CarolineMcCarthy of New York has a bill ready to present to the House of Reps about limiting the sale of magazines/clips to l0 rounds. We need John Boehner to bring the bill to the floor this week for the sake of the 27 victims of Newtown. The American People need to see where their Representatives stand on this issue.

  • Tell Obama To Take The Social Security Cuts Off The Table
Did you know that Obama has offered a fiscal cliff deal to the GOP which includes cuts to Social Security benefits? It doesn't sit right with me to allow him to abandon his campaign promises and to allow our lawmakers to respond to the fiscal cliff by legislating more deprivals for the retired and the elderly, many of whom live in severe poverty, rather than raising taxes on the prosperous and the wealthy. I think we're all better than that. Please join me if you agree and add your signature to this petition to let the President, Congress and the Senate know that you will not stand for this deal, especially since the White House itself has said that Social Security is not a factor in the deficit.

  • End Real Entitlements-cut Congress'
Ending all the entitlements our Congress provides to itself would be a very meaningful way to increase our country's revenue, save us taxpayers a bundle, and make sure our elected folks serve our needs not their own.

  • social security cuts
You may have heard that yesterday President Obama made an offer to Republican John Boehner to cut Social Security benefits and leave in place some of the Bush tax cuts for the top 2%. The cuts in Social Security are opposed by an overwhelming majority of SignOn.org members and would amount to "a cut of more than 5 percent and more as the years go by." For many retirees this would mean critical cuts to benefits that cover medicine, food, and other daily necessities.1,2

  • Stop Proposed Cuts to Social Security
Current proposal calls for as much as 5% cuts to Social Security benefits and as I just began receiving my SS benefits, I am strongly opposed to ANY Social Security cuts. I can't believe that the very same proposal allows the rich 2% to have better tax cuts than retirees!

  • No deal on Social Security!
I work more for less money because the super rich decided to play roulette with the economy. Now your going to cut my Social Security benefits because the government spent the Social Security money to fund tax cuts for the super rich. No way!

  • Do not cut Social Security Benefits for Retirees
Do not cut retiree benefits as a compromise just to get off the fiscal cliff. We can not afford the cuts, the rich can afford to pay more (as they will get it from us somehow anyway). Do not use the elderly as a compromise!

  • Lower cost of living increases for Social Security
Our 1-1.7 percent increase to seniors will equal from $6 to $20 more a month but Medicare, medicine, gas, food, and utilities (just to name a few) are also going higher than that so we are really not getting a cost of living raise because it is costing more than that to live.

  • STOP CUTS TO SOCIAL SECURITY
Halt any efforts by the White House or US Congress to cut Social Security to current elderly recipients or to those looking to receive the Social Security benefits they paid for by working 30, 40 or more years - those 55 and older.
