On October 30, 2006, a US-controlled drone struck a school in Pakistan and killed 83 people. None of them were militants. Only 3 of them were over the age of 20. The other 80 killed were children. This murder of civilians was barbaric, but it wasn't a one-time occurrence. In the past 8 years, US military drones have targeted Pakistani schools, funerals, religious centers. They have torn families apart. Pakistani civilians live in terror that their community will be destroyed. Their children wake up scared to go to school. Yes, the drone strikes kill militants. But just as often, they miss (or hit) and kill civilians. Shatter homes. Rip apart families and leave mothers crying for children maimed or murdered. And, even though Bush started the practice, over 80% of drone strikes have occurred under Obama. It is time for this violence to stop.We as a nation are better than that, and it is time for us to stand up for our principles. As our president, Obama needs to take a stand. He fought for gun control to end mass shootings. He fought for gay rights and the rights of workers. Now, I am calling on him to end the drone war and stand up for civilian rights.

More money in the hands of the poorest is the best place to ignite our sluggish economy. People who have needs they cannot afford to fill will spend all additional income provided. The added income will spur the economy while improving the health, well being and security of our most vulnerable citizens. Its a Win - Win - Win.

28th Amendment to the Constitution that requires that any laws passed by Congress MUST apply to members of Congress as well. One of the provisions would require cuts to Congressional pay, benefits etc. before Congress can impose cuts to any social benefit program's budget.

This petition is to the Congress to begin the process of repealing the second amendment. The founding father's made a mistake in the language of this amendment that makes it ill suited for our current world and we need to address this clearly now. We cannot allow the rights of gun owners to overwhelm the rights of our children to be safe.

We have seen a drastic deterioration of values in America since we allowed corporate prayer to be taken out of our public schools. To make our school systems more safe, we should allow corporate prayers of all faiths to be offered in all public schools and those students who would like to refrain from prayers should be allowed the same freedom.

Even though Social Security has nothing to do with the budget deficit, Republicans insist on adopting chained CPI, a new formula for inflation increases in benefits. It is just a disguised attempt to reduce Social Security benefits. The current formula already fails to take account of the real inflationary expenses that face seniors: utilities and health care. The new formula will further penalize people who can ill afford these cuts. And the only reason for the cuts is to reduce taxes for the wealthy. Senators Mikulski & Cardin and Congressman Cummiings have publicly stated their opposition to any deals that contain this disguised cut.. But Congressmen Sarbanes & Ruppersberger have failed to do so.
