During the presidential campaign, the difference between President Obama and Mitt Romney on dealing with the "fiscal cliff" could not have been clearer, and now that the American people have spoken, it is equally clear whose position they favored. As negotiations proceed in Congress, our representatives should hold the line on letting the Bush tax cuts for the top 2% expire and protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Leveling the playing field gives multi-national corporations less of a reason to manufacture overseas. 1) They will pay the same minimum wage as they do in the U.S. 2) They will follow the same Fair Labor Standards Act requirements. 3) They will follow the same OSHA regulations. 4) They will have the same environmental requirements

To prevent Congress from touching Medicare and/or Social Security until members of the House and Senate give up their special entitlements and subject themselves to the same entitlements as the rest of the country.

Our legislaters should follow the same rules they impose on the American people.

Ask the well-off to pay their fair share and help keep the safety net in place.

Pledges made to Grover Norquist's organization seem to present a conflict for our elected officials. Any office holder that signed a pledge other than their pledge to their oath of office needs to disavow all prior pledges except to their oath of office.

In October of 2012, Debbie Jordan, a Food & Beverage manager and Candidate for Florida State Senate (District 30) was called into her employers office and fired for associating with Democrats. According to Fox News, Debbie stated she was called into her boss's office. Her boss said, "So I heard you've been seen or associating with Democrats...Well, you're running for office, you can't be running for office". Debbie was then fired from her job as Food & Beverage Manager. Debbie, a mother of four, is the primary breadwinner to her family and an active Democrat. Tuesday, Dec. 5, was a day of disgrace in the Senate. A small number of Republican senators voted to reject ratification of this Treaty, which was based on our own law, written in 1991 and signed into law by the first President Bush. I call for a re-vote, if such a thing is possible. Even the frail former senator and Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole, who appeared in the Senate Chamber to argue on behalf ot theTreaty's passage, was not able to achieve its passage.

Why should we go thought this adjustment for an antiquated reason. At least in the Central time zone it would make more sense not to. Arizona got something right!

Filibusters should be few in number and short in duration.

An enormous amount of money is being spent to keep our elected officials living in style for life. No matter where I work, I can't get a pension for life for just serving a few years. I can't get top shelf life insurance for life for just serving a few years. And, they want to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Listening to these same elected officials repeat the same mantra about entitlement cuts without any cuts to benefits they have is just sickening. It's just not right.

I think of all the children that go without due to the lack of common sense in Gov't spending.
