  • Pass the Violence Against Women Act Now!
Time is running out for the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). If Congress fails to act this year--which could happen if we don't speak out--shelters, hotlines and other critical services could run out of money in the next few months. Earlier this year, a bipartisan majority of Senators passed a VAWA reauthorization bill that would have expanded protections to some of the most vulnerable communities, including LGBT, immigrant and Native American populations. Conservatives in the House not only blocked it--they took the unprecedented step of rolling back protections that have been on the books for years. Now conservatives in the House are facing increased pressure to do the right thing and vote on the Senate version. Can you tell Congress to pass the expanded Violence Against Women Act right away?

  • Poison in your tapwater
Fluoride in tapwater is a waste by-product of the aluminum and fertilizer industry. It is a basic ingred. in rat poisons and Sarin nerve gas. It increases the risk of bone fractures in elderly, lowers IQ in children. Harvard study found fluoride contributes to rare bone cancer in boys. 97% of Europe has rejected fluoridated water due to known health risks, and it was classified as compulsory medication [unlawful] and therefore violated fundamental humane rights. In 2010 Time mag.listed fluoride as one of the top ten household toxins and described it as both "neurotoxic and potentially tumorigenic if swallowed". Read the back of your toothpaste tube....It says "call poison control if swallowed"...How much do your children swallow when they brush? We are being systematically poisoned. This must end. Educate yourselves about fluoride!!!!!

  • Reduce rates on school loans
The rate on school loans is set to double to 6.8% unless Congress acts to extend the lower rate for another year or two. Even 3.4% is too high, when the cost of other loans is lower, it isn't right that school loans cost so much.

  • Bring Wind Power to NC!
North Carolina has more potential for offshore wind than any Atlantic state. Combine that with our world-class research institutions and existing green energy incentives, and North Carolina can chart a clean energy future, with offshore wind at the forefront. The first step in charting our future in offshore wind is for North Carolina’s leaders to support extending federal tax incentives vital for both onshore and offshore wind power production. The coal and oil lobby is urging Congress to let these tax credits expire, which would mean the loss of 37,000 jobs along with increased pollution. That is why Environment North Carolina is calling the state’s leaders to take advantage of North Carolina’s offshore wind potential by supporting extending the wind energy tax credit. It’s time to make history, again.

  • Tell USDA to Stop Discriminating against the Disabled
The USDA does not care about disabled people. The USDA classes Disabled Farmers and Ranchers as Socially Disadvantage Farmers and Rancher, yet when you apply for help they do not take into account your disability until you pass a credit check, and not before.

  • Drop Norquist Anti-tax Pledge
Rep. Fred Upton must drop the Norquist anti-tax pledge and allow the Bush tax cuts for the top 2% to come to an end. Grover Norquist has created a zealous, self-promoting tax scourge & is trying to take down the government by holding our elected officials hostage to this pledge. This has only caused division in our government and is making it impossible for our officials to work together as they were elected to do. Remember WE pay their salaries which means they work for US not Grover Norquist. He has also been linked to the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal. Why would you back such a person? It's time to abandon this pledge and get back to the government of the people and start serving those that elected you and not some special interest lobbyist.
