Our Congress works less for the ordinary citizen, and more for what they can get. Has anyone noticed that they enter politics as average citizens and leave rich. Something is wrong with that.

Individuals with felonies should be given the opportunity to serve their countries in exchange for clearing it off there records. There are so many individual that have paid the price for their crime, but find that their criminal record makes it diffulcult to gain employment.

We nearly lost our farm in the 80's due to rising interest rates. I'd hate to see predatory lending affect my kids and grandkids.

My son's wife was killed in Fulton County by her 18 year old son. That night he admitted to setting her up, taking three days to plan the homicide, and then killing her. It has been a failure of the judicial system and a failure of the Fulton Counties District of Attorney's Office to fulfill their duties. What this leaves is the people around this case to not be able to have some type of closure. The homicide was committed in June 2009, so 3.5 years later we still do not have a court date. This is unacceptable. Our judicial system needs changed to help the victims and families of victims get a timely resolution and to put closure to the event.

GMO's (genetically modified organisms) are in a wide variety of foods regulary consumed by the public. Although GMO's are believed to be extremely dangerous to your health, there currently is no law in NY state or any other state prohibiting them, or even requiring foods containing GMO's to at least be labelled as such. In order to safeguard the health of our families, it is imperative that we have a label law requiring all foods containing GMO's to be labelled as such.

The sacred land called Pe'Sla are located in the heart of the Black Hills in South Dakota. The land was granted to the Lakota Sioux Tribes 150 years ago, but people illegally homesteaded and are now selling the land for development.

Dick Durbin and Senate Democrats have the power to end th Bush taxes cuts for the top 2% while making our safety net stronger than it has ever been. They have the support of the people, polls and more importantly the election have shown this to be the case. Yet they seem willing to give into the demands of the heads of corporations and the richest among us. Tell them we will not stand for this. I am an ex-felon who has been off of parole for 15 years. Yet, I still have to report that I have been convicted of a felony each time I fill out an application for employment. Having to list my prior criminal record (writing bad checks) causes employers to focus on my past conviction instead of my ability to do the job. Our tax dollars should not be used to fund agencies that keep hardworking citizens who have paid their debt to society out of the workforce. Helping ex-felons succeed and re-enter society without the plethora of civil disabilities should be the aim of these taxpayer funded agencies.

Republican John McCain is a disgruntled old fart who lost the election to Mr. Obama 4 years ago and emotionally he can't move forward. I am in my late 80's, I have seen it all; he needs a message from all Americans to 'get over it', he lost, stop trying to create problems when there aren't any. Do what is right for all America or get the heck out of the way.

"Right to work" has also been called "right to work for less." Most work being done in our communities is being done by out of town contractors. Repeal right to work laws and keep our community investments here at home.

Last week, I met Alvin Turner and Baxter Leach, two of the Memphis sanitation workers who went on strike with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968, just before his assassination. They were fighting for the same things that we still are today: fair wages, safe workplaces, and a chance to raise their families with dignity. Forty-five years later, things haven't changed, and fast-food workers in New York City are taking up the call to action. Fast-food workers today are being paid poverty-level wages that barely cover a quarter of what we need to live, forcing many good workers to rely on food stamps and other public assistance. And it's not just the workers who are paying the price—our communities and local businesses are suffering, too. Enough is enough. This week, fast-food workers will rally in New York City's Harlem neighborhood to take a stand for our dignity as workers—and to help lift our entire economy. We're demanding $15 an hour and the right to form a union without intimidation. The Memphis strikers showed us that there is nothing to fear in standing up for what's right and ensuring we won't be ignored any longer. Join us in demanding better wages for fast-food workers, to cover their basic needs and lift up our entire economy. Remember, as Memphis striker Alvin Turner said: "In order to win, you have to stand up and be counted." The civil rights struggle isn't over, and we cannot allow a $200 billion industry to pay workers so little that they must rely on food stamps or live in homeless shelters. Together, we can put money in the hands of workers and lift our entire economy as we work to rebuild the American Dream. Join us to say we won't stand for inequity. We need our GRANT programs re-instated so as to bring more jobs to any area where jobs are needed,,,I have tried for 6 years to get a grant to help me bring hundards of jobs just to my area. I am trying to build a new type of transitional aircraft to the market. one tobe used by the armed forces and everyone that needs to fly. letter after ketter to the white house and what do I get back,,?
