Pressure house republicans to work with the president to move the country forward. The fiscal cliff is a made up crisis and we should petition the house to stop playing politics and do the work of the people.

The country has failed to move ahead effectively due to Congress putting party interests ahead of the people of the United States. The President has been re-elected by a large majority of Americans looking to move us FORWARD. We will be watching closely for the next two years to identify any congressperson or senator keeping us back.

I think who is an illegal alien in the US should be made legal, excluding ones that have committed violent crimes. This would help with the debt of the US because all of the illegals would have to begin to pay taxes and it will cut the nations debt dramatically. The greatest right we have is to vote in our democracy but for some reason we have it on a day that has been more difficult to participate due to employment requirements and the population having to work more than one job thus making it inaccessible to many of our citizens. We should celebrate our right to vote!!!

The President’s first post-election confrontation with the GOP – over the supposed fiscal cliff Republicans created – is about to unfold, and many of us fear that once again the President will lean over backwards to accommodate the party of denial and intransigence. Though a three-million vote majority re-elected President Obama, Democrats increased their Senate majority, and more people actually voted for Democratic Party candidates for the House of Representatives than for Republicans, there is a danger the President will compromise away what the majority voted for in order to avoid a fiscal crisis. This petition urges the President to defy Republican blackmail. We don't need a "grand deal" that's a "grand sell-out."

I feel that we should dock legislators every day they fail to pass a budget on time.The concern is our fiscal cliff. We don't have time to play with argument between the parties we need urgent reform now. Why must we be played with because of egos that don't agree that's not acceptable. Expand presidential power to reorganize or eliminate redundant parts of the federal government. Allow members the ability, if the majority is there to anonymously override a leader or committee chairs to bring a bill to the floor. The names would be made public after the bill passes.

It is UNAMERICAN to make non-essential people work on a holiday such as this. Let's send a clear message to corporate America that we will NOT TOLERATE THIS NONSENSE!
