• Time to Say Goodbye to Marjorie Taylor Greene
Greene needs to go......pure and simple. Her behavior towards others in the opposing party smacks of Trump and we are so done with him. Greene thinks the rules do not apply to her. Well, they do and they should be enforced. She should not be permitted to insult, degrade, or intimidate those who are trying to do their job.

  • Keep the Affordable Housing funding in the Infrastructure Bill
I am disabled and many of the other disabled people I know are facing homelessness or are homeless living in their cars. The high price of renting and buying are making it impossible for them to find a home.

  • Recall AZ State Senators Who Voted for Audit
This is an attack on our very democracy and is designed to undermine confidence in our electoral process. Those responsible for promoting what is now called the "Big Lie" propagated by Donald Trump and which led to the insurrection on January 6th of 2021 should be held accountable for their actions. They have violated their oaths of office and this recall is to have them removed.

  • DEFUND AMHERST POLICE
The proposed FY22 budget for the Town of Amherst does not go far enough to promote racial equity and social justice. The cry that arose last summer after the murder of George Floyd continues, as on average three people a day have been killed by police, and as the verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin was announced, Ma’Khia Bryant, a teenager, was murdereed by police. The calls to defund the police did not stem from an isolated incident, but are based in the understanding that the safest communities have the most resources, not the most police. In his budget presentation to the Town Council on May 3, 2021, Town Manager Paul Bockelman revealed he had allocated only $130,000 to the CRESS program and only $30,000 to combine with existing funds to create an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion coordinator. The $130,000 comes from the two frozen police positions, and does not include any additional funding. Funding the CRESS program at only 6% of the proposed budget, and neglecting to address the additional proposals for a youth empowerment center and multi-cultural center, along with a BIPOC-led Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office, sends a strong message that the town does not prioritize racial equity and the safety of BIPOC residents. Reallocating only two police positions and no additional funding is disrespectful to the countless hours the CSWG spent engaging the community with public forums, researching alternative programs, and coordinating with the 7GenMC to provide a thorough proposal to the town manager. Providing only $130,000 to design and implement an innovative, anti-racist alternative responder program ensures the program will not fully thrive, and that the town will likely default to the white supremecist institution of policing to address non-violent, non-criminal matters. $130,000 is inadequate. At a meeting with the finance committee May 27, the funding allocated was increased to $475,000 for CrESS and $90,000 for a director of diversity, equity and inclusion. This increase still falls short.

  • Release COVID-19 Vaccines to India & developing Nations!
COVID-19 is not a virus that can be constrained to one country's borders. We cannot ignore the growing humanitarian crisis in India as well as other developing countries. Allowing COVID-19 to spread and mutate could potentially make current vaccines ineffective in protecting Americans and the rest of the Western world. But more importantly, allowing COVID-19 to kill indiscriminately without any attempt to render aid is an abject moral failure of all decent human beings. President Biden is a man of faith. A man who understands that moving through this life with an eye to doing good means more than earning profit. While ensuring America turns the corner of our own COVID-19 crisis is a good thing, that good is undone if it comes at the cost of lives when we have enough and to spare. Our responsibility as human beings is to each other. If we, as a nations are preventing aid to come to other people, we have a moral duty to cease our actions and ensure that aid goes out to those who need it too. America, through Joe Biden's leadership, is now leading the world in vaccinating it's population and reducing COVID's spread. President Biden, we are asking you as our nation's leader and as the titular Leader of the Free World, to act on this crisis in India, Africa and abroad. Suspend the IP ban, release raw materials and send surplus vaccines and supplies to help during this crisis. Thank you

  • We demand ethical, professional and honest government from Hamden Town Council!
The world is waiting to see if Derek Chauvin, the white former police officer will be convicted for the murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd. Meanwhile in Connecticut, Black and Brown people are anxiously awaiting the declaration of the oldest pandemic, racism. In the midst of this, Valerie Horsley, a white woman and Hamden Town Council member representing District 4, used profanity against a Black man and fellow council member, Justin Farmer, exercising her privilege by demanding he refer to her by her professional title, justifying her demand by her acclaimed 'tribal' roots.

  • Increased Funding of Mental Health Services in Schools
According to the CDC, mental health is our, “ emotional, psychological, and social well-being” (CDC, 2018). Mental health can affect many aspects in a person's life including the way they think, feel, and act. How someone thinks, acts, and feels can have a great affect on how they handle things in their everyday life especially if those thoughts, feelings and actions are coming from a negative place. In schools there are programs and classes put in place to promote good physical health such as gym class, health class, and physical activity based after school programs but, there are rarely spaces in school to talk about and promote the importance of good mental health. Being able to talk about mental health and having the proper support when struggling with a mental illness can have a very positive affect on someone's life. Since having good mental health is just as important as having good physical health, why are schools not focusing on providing support and education for mental health like they do for physical health. Schools need to have more accountability to provide resources for promoting positive mental health practices for students and teachers through programs, funding, and outreach to help erase the stigma regarding mental illness.
