Even Mitt Romney admits it. In his concession speech, he said: "At a time like this, we can't risk partisan bickering. Our leaders have to reach across the aisle to do the people's work." House Speaker John Boehner said "If there is a mandate, it is a mandate for both parties to find common ground and take steps together to help our economy grow and create jobs." However, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell had this to say: "The voters have not endorsed the failures or excesses of the president's first term. They have simply given him more time to finish the job they asked him to do together" with a balanced Congress."

In order to avoid any future presidential candidate who has NOT received the popular vote from getting in office, the archaic electoral college (EC) system should be replaced with a more modern, efficient system. When the EC first came in to existence, times were very different and the transfer of information was far slower and inefficient; today information transfer is immediate and it is time to revise our voting process.

As a veteran of the US Armed Forces, I've watched, especially over the last decade, our US Constitution take a real beating with government policies that undermine, disintegrate and flat remove basic human rights guaranteed to US citizens by our Constitution. As a veteran who took an oath to defend and protect the United States of America and her Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, the lack of regard for our Constitution by elected officials in every branch of government - executive: the president and vice-president, legislative: the US Senate and House of Representatives and judicial: the Supreme Court and all other courts of law - is beyond appalling. These elected and appointed governing individuals take the same oath of service upon taking office, yet they are not upholding that oath by selling out to special corporate interests to the detriment, risk and danger of US citizens who elect them to office. One such horrible judicial decision granted "personhood" to corporations. Corporations are concerned with profit, often at great human cost as we increasingly see in our country today. We must restore our Constitution to it's full authority as the law of the land. And the elected and appointed officials who swear an oath to protect and defend the USA and its Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic need to be reminded - upon pain of being removed from office - that their oath of service is not just a string of words to be ignored for personal gain of power or profit. That oath is a sacred trust to the people of the United States of America.

I heard last night in election coverage "2 years & 2 billion dollars later." A president in their first term has to spend the second half of their term campaigning to try be re-elected. This petition is about presidential election reform. It's a circus.

Failing infrastructure is one of the biggest problems facing America. The experts say that investing in our infrastructure will not only improve public safety, but will create jobs which in turn improves our economy. I don't want our children and grandchildren to inherit an America that is literally fallling to pieces. The President has said we must "hold his feet to the fire." It is by demanding what we need for our country that we give Obama the support he needs to stand up to those who will continue to obstruct the President from making progress on this and other issues important for America. Please join us in insisting that our infrastructure is a priority issue for the American people.

The people of the State of California have been blatantly lied to with false advertisements created by the corporations (Monsanto, DuPont, Dow and others) that largely funded the NO on Prop 37 Campaign. The research provided in these false advertisements is not verifiable, and the facts are not facts. The collapse of support, and failure to pass Proposition 37, is an obvious and direct result of the funding of the negative campaign that confused and jaded voters.

National Grid and Long Island Power Authority’s (LIPA) preparedness and response to Hurricane Sandy have been completely unacceptable. Poor pre-planning has led to over 50 electrical substations going offline and left more than 1 million customers without power. Surely these substations could have been located, built, and/or protected better. Poor response is evident in that initial time frames for repair were given as "7-10 days", and then later bumped to "10-15 days". Over 150,000 customers are still without power a full nine days after the storm. Many are being told, “It could be at least another week”. Calls to customer service provide no estimated repair times for particular addresses, and as of November 7th they are no longer accepting calls. A message just simple says, “Due to the high call volume we cannot assign you a representative. Please try again later.” To boot, LIPA’s text alert system is not functioning as well. The fact that LIPA had to bring in thousands of out of state works also speaks volumes to their level of preparedness. Also, the fact that more than 1,500 non-union workers were turned away is simply appalling. With temperatures dropping and gasoline lines growing, harm that comes to people and their homes now falls on LIPA’s shoulders. For the highest power rates in the country, this is simply unacceptable. Please sign if you agree.

We need to have stronger penalties for animal abuse and neglect in the state of Iowa more than a slap on the wrist for animal abuse or neglect !!!! We need some of the Texas laws !!

Due to the lack of employment and the weak housing market people have begun to live with their relatives, causing them to be 50% to 100% dependent on their family. If laws would increase the age of dependents to 65 years of age, that will give those who are helping out their family some kind of tax relief.

With Obama's re-election, I believe it's time to call on him to work with leading labor activists and those interested in erradicating Poverty (like JIll Stein and Cornell West) for the next four years if Pres.Obama is really vested in re-building the middle class of this country

It's time to end political gridlock and work as a team.

In 31 of our American States, convicted rapisits still have the ability to fight for custody of any child conceived in their sexual assult. Victims are having to sometimes choose between pressing charges against their assaulter, make a deal in exchange for having the rapist sign over all rights, or have to share custody of their child with the person who raped them. I have 2 daughters and I am fighting to make sure they never have to choose like other young women have had to do. I am fighting to make sure my daughters, all daughters, all women and even some men, don't have to worry about fighting against parental rights from the person who has so deeply wounded and changed their lives. I need your voice, help me protect victims of rape and the children they have from that horrible act.
