  • Impose fines for lying during Campaigns
It's time to put an end to campaign lying. Let's get together on this now, so the next round of campaigning can be clean and clear of all BS. This petition puts forth a call for congress to pass a bill that requires all campaigns for house and senate congress positions as well as presidential position campaigns to run honest ads and debates. It invites a fine of sizeable amount (5% of gross amount in campaign account) be taken from the candidate who supports an ad that is false or gives false information during a debate. This money is then to be given to reduce the national debt or into a campaign finance reform fund for a committee to utilize for establishing a new campaign finance law.

  • Repeal Citizens United
The Citizens United ruling giving corporations personhood and allowing corporations to bribe their way into government must be repealed. California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, Rhode Island and Vermont have all passed resolutions through their legislatures, and majorities of legislators in Connecticut and Maryland sent letters to Congress calling for a constitutional amendment opposing the ruling; Colorado and Montana just passed the resolution as a result of the election on Tuesday. I want Pennsylvania voters to have their say.

  • Disempower Grover Norquist Anti-Tax Pledge
This petition is about the problem in Congress and the Senate due to a pledge signed to Grover Norquist. By signing the pledge the majority of the party acted as obstructionists for four years and were not working for the good of the American people.

  • Immigration Reform
Immigration. I am an organizer, a mother and a Latina and I have seen the immigration issue not being addressed by President Obama. In the past election 75% of Latinos voted for him and 73% Asians also supported him. It is time to pay attention to this issue and fix it.

  • Voting Day Reform
In 2012, in the age of iPads, Facebook, and Coursera, it is absurd that we have such archaic voting procedures. We can watch the elections results on 3D holograms and touch screen jumbo monitors, yet we have citizens waiting in line for hours in inclement weather with various issues all across the country. While I simply walked up to hand in my vote by mail ballot with no problems, I saw in real time through news and social media the very real problems people were facing. The problems are real with many possible solutions- online voting, early voting, voting day as a national holiday, etc. Let's hold President Obama and Congress accountable. As the President said in his acceptance speech on November 6th, 2012, "by the way, we have to fix that." This should not be an after thought. We can not wait four more years to work on this. Reform voting procedures now.

  • Make Congress WORK
Congress is not working, literally. Nothing gets done not only because of the idea of "gridlock," but also because legislators never have to get together to work things out. Make legislators "normal" federal employees, with two weeks of vacation per year, all federal holidays, and that is it. By being forced to be physically with the opposition, legislators will find common ground.

  • President Obama, stop enforcing marijuana laws against Colorado and Washington
The people of Colorado and Washington recently voted to allow marijuana use for adults in the state. This was a crucial victory for civil liberty and a defeat for wasteful government spending. The federal government has told Colorado and Washington they will still be prosecuting its residents for violating federal laws. Tell President Obama to respect these states and stop enforcing federal laws there.
