The Government monitors us under the guise of security, but we should not let our right to privacy be trampled. Like the saying goes, give a mouse a cookie and he wants a glass of milk. Protect your rights and hold them dearly for they are all that separates us from the rest of the world. We are the United States of America, land of the free!

Our country is being torn apart by partisan politics. We need to work together, capitalizing on the different parties' respective strengths and respecting our differences, to create a united plan for our country's future. We are not the "Divided States of America!"

Weather incidents like Deracho, Sandy, Isabel and snowmaggeddon resulted in electrical power loss so that gas stations over wide areas could not pump fuel for several days and recovery has taken longer than needed. Operating machinery and vehicles is not possible without liquid fuels.

The banking industry should not be allowed to make huge profits from student loans that borrowers are not allowed to discharge through hardships or bancrunpcy. They are charging high interest rates and raking in the money from student loan borrowers, collecting in some cases 400% of the original loan taken out, knowing that it is practically guaranteed to be paid as student loans are next to impossible to be forgiven. If student loans remain that difficult to discharge, all student loan borrowers PAST and PRESENTshould be allowed to have a reduction in their student loan interest rates to something reflective of a savings account rate, in the realm of 1% to 3%. My loan rate is 9% on a loan taken out in the early 1990's, one of which I am still paying on dispite having paid back more than twice what I borrowed, and with a future of paying back another two times more before the loan is paid. Please help.

The GOP has blocked a number of legislative initiatives by merely threatening filibuster. That has been enough to get the Democrats to back away from their own proposals, and has led to gridlock in Congress. Why should the threat of filibuster be enough? The fallout from televised coverage and news coverage will be so negative, it will lead to them backing down. Make the GOP actually do it, Jimmy Stewart style. They will have to put up or shut up.

This year's embattled election may be over, but the bitter, vicious attack ads used by campaigns and politicians won't go away. Once election cycles start up again, so will the ads. Isn't it time we asked for more? Shouldn't we demand intelligent, thoughtful discourse from those seeking elected leadership? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to get answers, not attacks?

Now that the Supreme Court has subjected us all to unlimited campaign donations with its Citizens United vs FEC decision, we are bombarded with ridiculous levels of television advertising. The 2012 Presidential election saw over $800 million spent alone, this does not even include congressional elections at federal and state levels. Lets use this money for our country, not annoying political advertisements.
