• Stop the Credit Check
Employers should not be permitted to view a potential candidate's credit profile unless directly handling large sums of money in excess of $5,000 or more on an UNSUPERVISED basis.

  • JP Morgan Chase: Repay Homeowners That Overpaid You for Mortgages Due to LIBOR Manipulations
As a resident, voter and homeowner in the State of New York, the fact that JP Morgan Chase received excess funds as a result of the LIBOR manipulations concerns me. JP Morgan Chase operates in New York under the laws my representatives enacted and must account for any charges it obtained from customers as a result of the artificial inflation of mortgage rates.

  • Demand justice for janitors who clean for veterans, the military and government
As the nation observes Veteran’s Day, janitors who ensure that veterans have safe and sanitary rooms at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center are being denied two weeks’ pay. I take my job as a janitor at Walter Reed very seriously and I feel responsible for keeping it clean and safe for all the veterans who are getting care there. But Escab Enterprises, a federal cleaning contractor that has received over $40 million in taxpayer money since 2008, hasn’t paid me and my fellow employees our last paycheck--for two weeks of work-- and they won’t even say when we will get paid. In fact, they haven’t paid nearly 300 janitors that work at Walter Reed, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) and the Internal Revenue Service. We earn just $13.97 per hour at Walter Reed and without two weeks of pay we are already struggling to support our families. We don’t know when—or if—they intend to pay us what we’re owed. The government is spending millions in tax dollars on this company that hasn’t paid the workers who are helping our nation’s veterans recuperate in a safe and clean environment and cleaning other important government buildings. We are committed to our jobs and continue to work to best protect the health and safety of the patients and workers in the buildings we clean but we need to be paid immediately so we can support our families. We have been told a responsible contractor is taking over at the Walter Reed Medical Center. The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) and the Internal Revenue Service should do the same; Escab Enterprises is a bad actor and shouldn’t be allowed to work for the government.

  • Let States Set Their Own Marijuana Laws
Marijuana is far less harmless than alcohol, which is perfectly legal and is sold in all 50 states. In fact, in NH, where I live, our state sells it to profit the government. One cannot die just from using marijuana. It is about time the government realized marijuana is not something to get in a big huff about. Some states are wising up and legalizing marijuana, and the federal government needs to respect their rights as states and let them legislate this as they please.

  • Dump the Pledge
With the dreaded "fiscal cliff" looming, we need to push members of Congress to accept tax increases as part of a balanced approach to resolving the deficit. Those in Congress who signed Grover Nordquist's Pledge not to raise taxes must be pressured to band together and Dump the Pledge. America's fiscal future is on the line!

  • Tell TN House Reps to stand with Gov. Haslam for the creation of state insurance exchanges
Under the federal healthcare overhaul, states are required to setup their own insurance exchanges. Gov. Haslam (R-TN) has stated he supports this, but House Leader Gerald McCormick (R-TN-district 26) has said "this will be a hard sell among rank and file Republicans" and signaled the federal government should take over. Gerald McCormick, and all of these "rank and file Republicans" of whom you speak, stop wasting taxpayers dollars fighting against what the American people have signaled they want. Gerald McCormick and all other legislators of Tennessee who are "rank and file Republicans", get out of the way of Gov. Haslam and do your duty of serving the American People. The Supreme Court has already spoken on this matter. Stand with the President, the American people, and Governor Haslam for the creation of state insurance exchanges.

  • Tell Gov. Haslam (R-TN) to say Yes to State Insurance Exhanges
Ordinary folks, you need to get on the phone and call your state representative in your district and tell them you support the Affordable Care Act and the creation of state insurance exchanges. This is an attempt to challenge the federal law on the Affordable Care Act, which was already decided in the Supreme Court. Governor Haslam, stand up to these "rank and file Republicans" for what Americans have clearly said they are in favor of. People should also find out who their local legislator is and call their office. You can find out what your district is here: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/legislators/

  • Preferred status for veterans home from war
Because of advancements in medicine and better ability to treat life threatening injuries in combat hospitals, more soldiers are coming home from battle with limbs missing and/or serious to mild mental disabilities. These disabilities are preventing many of these soldiers from getting jobs. Too many are ending up addicted to drugs and hopeless. The VA purports to be underfunded and overloaded and has done too little to assist these men and women. It's time to honor and respect them in ways that go beyond mere words.

We the citizens of Antioch,TN are petitioning and pleading for the TARGET STORE at 5330 Cane Ridge Road (Cane Ridge) to remain in our community as we need you to help us continue to revitalize our community. With our city being the largest in the Davidson county with a population of over 50,000, our demographics demonstrate that we are a very diverse community both socially and economically, and certainly can benefit from the products and services that this TARGET provides. • Abolish Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission
We were all affected in this campaign year by attack ads funded by large corporations such as those owned by the Koch brothers and individuals like Carl Rove who created PACs to back the candidate that would push through their agendas when they got elected. They were virtually hi-jacking our Democracy and we can't let this happen again... we need to undo the Citizens United ruling before the next election.

  • Fix the filibuster
Over the past four years, Senate Republicans have made it almost impossible to pass any significant legislation unless it has a supermajority of 60 votes. That's because Senate rules allow them to filibuster a bill without even having to take to the floor, as was required in the past. In addition, they have routinely used the filibuster on procedural votes. The Senate can change these rules when it convenes in January.

  • Remember The Future! All House and Senate seats at stake In Just Two Years!
During the final weeks and months of the 2012 Presidential election campaign many of us hung all of our hopes on the President being re-elected. Many of us worked toward that end; others of donated to the campaign as best we could, and all of us was elated and overjoyed at the victorious conclusion. But now that the election is won, the real work begins; for the President, and for us, his constituents and supporters. We must let him know that we, the masses, have his back! One Hundred and forty nine years ago this week on Thursday, November 19, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln, in a carefully crafted address reiterated the principles of human equality espoused by the Declaration of Independence by declaring that many lives were given at Gettysburg to ensure the survival of AMERICA'S REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY, THAT THE "GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE, SHALL NOT PERISH FROM THE EARTH." Now it is seems necessary to keep the congress informed that we are very much aware of the nature of our government. That it is a government of “We, The People”! We must send a simple but strong message to the congress: CUT OUT THE BULL AND GET DOWN TO WORK! BE MORE COOPERATIVE WITH AND RESPECTFUL OF OUR PRESIDENT! Let me remind you that during the first four years of the Obama administration, the Congress, and in particular the right wing of the House of Representatives, displayed gross disrespect for and total non-cooperation with the President. According to Speaker Boehner, the Republicans in the House feel that the Presidential election did not represent a mandate for compromise and forward action on their part because at this time the makeup of the house is essentially unchanged. The makeup of the house was not changed because the bulk of the members of the House were not up for re-election this year. Now here's something for them to think about: "The 2014 United States House of Representatives and Senate elections will be held on November 4, 2014. Elections will be held for all 435 seats, representing the 50 U.S. states. Elections will also be held for the delegates from the District of Columbia and four U.S. territories." ANY OF THE REPRESENTATIVES THAT WANT TO BE AROUND BEYOND 2014 SHOULD BE SERIOUSLY RETHINKING BI-PARTISAN COOPERATION! THEY SHOULD TAKE THE PRESIDENT SERIOUSLY AND ACCURATELY REPRESENT THEIR CONSTITUENCY. The immediate goal for this petition is to obtain 100,000 signatures by December 10, 2012 and before Congress adjourns on December 14, 2012. As of this date we have only 11 signatures. In order to be effective we MUST HAVE AT LEAT 100,000 SIGNATURES. My ultimate goal is to secure 1,000,000 signatures but I desperately need your help. Please share this petition with all of your contacts online via Email, Facebook, Twitter and whatever other ways you can get it out. CAN WE GET TO 1,000,000 SIGNATURES? YES, WE CAN! Thank you for your help, Jacob. I found my information on Wikipedia and cfr.org.
