We petition for an immediate investigation into a conflict of interest in electronic voting machines scheduled to be used in the Nov. 6, 2012 presidential election. • Abolish the Fillibuster
We need to raise awareness, first of all, as to what exactly a fillibuster is. I just saw a vote in the U.S. Senate in which a bill to raise benefits for war veterans was "voted down" despite support from 58 out of 100 senators. If we do not abolish the fillibuster, we will continue to see sensible solutions to problems flushed away due to partisan hooliganism.

  • Justice for Furrukh Shan Alam
Furrukh Shan Alam was unarmed when he was shot to death in a Florida home on August 10, 2011, leaving behind his wife and 4 year old son as well as countless others whose lives he touched. It has been more than a year but his murderer, Bruce Fuller, has yet to be charged or arrested. While the Maitland Police Department and the District Attorney of Orange County continue to investigate the matter, we urge them to conduct a speedy and thorough investigation culminating in the arrest of Bruce Fuller. Please help Furrukh's family find some peace and help bring Furrukh's killer to justice. UPDATE: Thank you all for your support and prayers, it brings us some peace to know we have your support in this struggle, thank you all for your signatures and comments, God Bless you!

  • Turn off FOX News
I went to two different McDonalds for breakfast wanting to hear a balanced review of the final debate. FOX News was playing in both places and when I requested the channel be changed the supervisor refused. I believe being force fed propoganda is dangerous to me and to our country. I called the corporate office and asked if this was corporate policy and the customer service rep would only reply "Each franchise has its own policies.' Ask again. Repeat standard reply.

  • Stop the Attacks on the Nuns on the Bus
Last week, the "Nuns on the Bus" went to Ohio, visiting local social service agencies and speaking out about how draconian federal budget cuts could endanger the poorest and most vulnerable people in our society. But when the sisters rolled into the town of Marietta, they were met by a crowd of angry right-wing protesters who called them "fake nuns" and wielded signs labeling their tour the "highway to hell" and "bums on the bus." Many of these protesters were recruited by a local Catholic parish, where the priest invited right-wing activists to distribute an ugly screed falsely accusing the sisters of "espousing radical ideology." Can you sign our petition calling on the local bishop to admonish this priest and make sure that no more church resources are used to spread fear and lies about Catholic sisters?

  • Tell Bishop David Kagan: Stay Out of the North Dakota Senate race
The Roman Catholic Bishop of Bismarck, David Kagan, has just issued a pastoral letter that echoes Republican campaign ads urging voters not to pick the "likeable" candidate and warns Catholics they can only vote for candidates who oppose marriage equality, abortion rights, and even stem cell research. But now State Senator Tim Mathern, a practicing Catholic, is courageously demanding that the bishop withdraw the letter, citing church teaching on the primacy of conscience and the bishops' official guidelines on avoiding partisan activity. If we can demonstrate huge grassroots outrage before the letter is read at Mass this weekend, the bishop might be forced to withdraw it -- and we can send a powerful message to other church officials across the country who might be tempted to abuse their positions for partisan political purposes in the final days before the election.

  • 62 full Retirement
I would like to see full retirement from social security at 62 not 67 . I think it should be up to the person whether they keep working or stay retired. Many people are worn out in their early 60's so lets get the retirement age down to where it should be.
