Comedian, radio and television personality Steve Harvey, recently rented a $22,000 a month, 6,400 square-foot penthouse at Donald Trump's Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago to live while he tapes his NBC television show. Mr. Harvey has been known to be an ardent supporter of President Obama. It is inconceivable that he chose to live in a building associated with Donald Trump, one of the most obnoxious supporters of "the birther movement," Tea Party causes and Republicans determined to ensure the failure of President Obama.

On Sunday, Sept. 30th, 2012 a Lt. in the Philadelphia Police Dept. assaulted an innocent women. They officer, whom had his back turned, assumed the women threw water on police. There's footage of the incident. you can clearly see it wasn't her. As of right now the officer is on desk duty which is absurd. I am personally affected because it took place at a cultural event where we as civilians are suppose to be able to enjoy and feel safe. This officer needs to be brought to justice with an appropriate punishment, not desk duty and pay.

I am concerned that 2012 election will not result in mandate for either party. The potential for continued congressional grid-lock will exist and nations business will continue to be the "empty chair". The voice of nation needs to be heard calling for re-emergence of statemanship over politics as core value of Congress. "Signed oaths" dictating loyalty and voting behavior potentially outside the interest of one's constituents is both dishonorable and immoral. We're calling for Congress to re-think and revise their ethics to discourage such behavior. We are also calling for the admendment of congressional voting rules (i.e. super majority) to prevent needless quid-lock of nations business solely for political purposes.

I would like to extend the following challenge to all members of the US Senate and Congress who are courageous enough to accept: Live for one month on the minimum wage -- no cheating. While NWACC may be a good experience for most, that is not the case for ALL students, faculty, and administrators. Ever since NWACC opened its doors for "business" about 25 years ago, this institution has been riddled with scandals of harrassment and abuse. Today's President Paneitz and Provost to President, Steven Gates, have carried on this tradition. Paneitz is leaving and we want Gates to leave, too.

Voting rights should be encouraged for all eligible voters. It's an honorable Democratic right!
