Save our post officesOur post offices are being sold! The purpose of the US Postal Service, enshrined in our Constitution, is to provide a public service. A misguided Congress, in 1971, passed the Postal Reorganization Act to require the Postal Service to make a profit. Now Congress's 2006 Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act is driving the USPS into bankruptcy, requiring it to pay $5.5 billion a year for employee benefits 75 years into the future, and then putting the downtown post offices' prime real estate up for sale to corporate investors. Our post offices anchor the centers of towns across the country and provide Americans, both individuals and businesses, with convenient, efficient, affordable mailing services. Our government once honored its citizen taxpayers by building handsome public buildings for our use. It's time to halt Congress's outrageous attack on the US Postal Service and sale of public buildings that our tax dollars built and that belong to the people of the USA.1,463 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Charlene Woodcock

Make the big banks accountable for their actions.Three years after becoming disabled and filling out modification offers I was told I qualified for. Jumping through all hoops required while I paid bills with my twenty years of retirement. Now, I have made my last trial payment with no offer and received a statement they are following through on foreclosure as they take my last payment.82 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael Hicks

No Road to AmblerGovernor Parnell proposes a 220-mile road from the Dalton Highway to the Ambler Mining District through the southern Brooks Range so that foreign companies may extract Alaska's resources. As of July 2012, the road to Ambler has received $9.25 million from the state Capital Budget since 2010 to study the route options. The road itself would cost at least $430 million to build and $8.5 million a year to maintain. Private corporations should gamble with their own money, not the state's.2,136 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by John Gaedeke

Improve California's Science EducationA decade's old regulation (part 'd' of the "a-g" requirements) is stifling California's high school education. The University of California's Office of the President should act to recognize the promise of modern technology and drastically revise this regulation to save money and improve science learning.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Harry Keller

Save Chester County Voter's RightsWith the U.S. at the forefront of championing the cause for fair and free elections worldwide, and an American Presidential election looming only months away, at best it is unwise and at worst electioneering, to deny the right of having a voice in the election of those who make the laws under which, as good citizens, we must live. It is imperative that we lead by example, and not undermine the right of we the people to vote in a fair and free election, when proponents of the law have produced no examples of people committing fraud by impersonating voters. Therefore with a Philadelphia election official expecting a "mess" over the photo ID law as reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer Aug. 2,2012, a Delco election official vowing to defy the ID law, as reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer July 28,2012 and up to 758,000 registered Pennsylvanians likely to be disenfranchised as a result, as reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer July 5,2012, why would anyone enforce this outrageous new law?3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by James R. Keep the USA from becoming a theocracyReligious groups are granted the right to have the freedom to practice their beliefs without government persecution and are exempt from paying taxes. However when they influence federal or state policy they are extending their belief system on all citizens of the country or that state. This act obliterates the lines between the separation of church and state, and we are all personally affected by this religious overreach. Lately, religions have become more vocal and claiming they are the ones losing their freedoms but that is not true. What is happening is they are lobbying for the federal and state governments to enact their beliefs on all citizens regardless of their personal beliefs or values. This is a theocracy and has no place in the USA. Tell them to stop! BECAUSE WE ARE LOOSING OUR FREEDOMS AS CITIZENS.215 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Barbara J Monda

Congressional Republicans: Stop Nickel-and-Diming College StudentsOne of the most sure-fire ways to ensure a better future is a college education. For many fields, this includes post-graduate studies. For several years, the first $8500 of a graduate student's loan was subsidized, meaning that no interest accrued until six months after leaving college or graduating. As a doctoral student at Temple University, I expected this when I went to sign for this year's student loan. However, thanks to an act of Congress, all graduate student loans are now unsubsidized. With several graduate students losing scholarships and teaching opportunities due to budget cuts, this hits us on both ends. It is time to reinstate subsidized graduate student loans. Do we want a society with fewer doctors, lawyers, librarians, teachers, professors, social workers, and librarians? The time has come to stop making it more difficult for students to afford college.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Steve Nicholas

Strap one on & defy the NRA!There is no acceptable reason why assault weapons are legal in the United States. For granting this right, we in return get slaughtered in houses of worship and movie theaters, in public parks, in our own homes. If politicians would finally stand up to the NRA, we can begin undoing the damage guns have inflicted. Ask your legislators to strap on a spine and stand up for you and your family.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Callahan
