Due to budget cuts over the Springerville Ranger District, the Big Lake Visitor Center has been closed and there are no longer any interpretive and educational programs for visitors and their families to enjoy. The Arizona Natural History Association, a nonprofit organization, is willing to assist funding and staffing of their own personnel at the Big Lake Visitor center and intends to fund the staff by the sale of educational items, forest novelties and local and state print items. All additional proceeds go to the future development and upkeep of the Big Lake Visitor Center. With this petition, we would like to show the National Forest Service how important the Big Lake Visitor Center and interpretive programming is to all who visit the Big Lake Recreation Area.

The elected congressman and the the members of of the House of Represetation should only be able to run for office the maximum of three times. The Ohio legislature and Governor Kasich recently passed legislation necessary under the Great Lakes Compact regarding the withdrawal of water from Lake Erie that allows for the withdrawal of up to 2.5 million gallons of water per day without having to apply for a permit to do so. Most of the states surrounding the Great Lakes limit this to 100,000 gallons a day, so why would Ohio allow 25 times that limit? The legislation the governor signed was introduced by State Rep. Lynn Wachtmann, who happens to sit on the board of directors of the International Bottled Water Association. Although he claims no conflict of interest, even Stevie Wonder could clearly see one. I would like the people of Ohio to be able to vote to limit it to 100,000 gallons like most other states.

I am the director of the film, 'Alive Inside', making this film I have seen Personal Music, the music of one's youth, awaken Elders with Alzheimer's Disease, ease loneliness and pain and I am convinced that this inexpensive 'medicine' humanizes life in nursing homes and does so much good at such a low cost that as a society we must provide it to our Elders.

The new leadership at the state toxics agency has shut down the Santa Susana Field Laboratory Inter-Agency Workgroup, which was the only place that the general public could, on a quarterly basis, learn the truth about what was going on with the cleanup of that contaminated site. The Workgroup is critical to assuring that a proper cleanup occurs.
