  • Michigan wants all GMOs labeled on our food!
I just want to know what I am eating! GM Food is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. Right now, you could be eating corn or soy (or something else) that is GM and you probably don't even know it. Now is the time to tell legislators: I have a right to know about GMOs in the food I'm buying! Please stand for mandatory labeling of all genetically modified ingredients.

  • Terminate our employees in Washington who have pledged against us
No American business is tolerating an employee who has pledges to work for a competitor. Such employees are fired on the spot, and with good reason. We Americans are sending our elected representatives to Washington to work for us, but they turn their backs on us and, instead, work for lobbyists and their sponsors. It is time to enact State legislation to enable us to fire our Senators and House Representatives if they act or vote against our express will.

  • End Corporate Lobbying in Washington
We don't need corporate representation at Senate or Congressional levels. The fact that bills can be 'tacked on' requiring, for example, introduction of genetically modified crops into our food chain infuriates me! I want to know what I'm eating! AND what we're mining earth for, destorying forests, displacing native peoples, outsourcing more jobs - I think one way to end this is to keep corporate lobbying OUT of our lawmaking process!

  • Allow recovering addicts to have food stamps
I am a recovering addict and I have several drug felonies and related theft charges. I can not get food stamps to feed myself, an apartment in my name to live in, and I can't get a job very easily due to my convictions. I have been clean from heroin for four years and am currently in college for Substance Abuse Counseling but am struggling. I have gotten lucky and found a couple apartments to rent to me but things became very difficult for me between paying rent and bills and food that I just couldn't keep up with it all. There are so many that expect addicts to get out of prison reformed but the fact is that when we get out no one wants to give us a chance to prove ourselves. So we try for a little while, and after so long we just give up and go back to (for some of us) the only life we have ever known. I have not used in four years, but I have stolen to try to provide shelter and food for myself. It has now been a year since I have committed any crime and I plan on never going back to such a life again. But I need help. We, as recovering addicts just need a little help. Sometimes just a little help can make the biggest difference.

  • Penn State Alumni Tuition Reimbursement
Please don't get me wrong, I am a proud Penn Stater, I bleed Blue and White, and am I still proud to tell everyone that I am an Alumni, but that is something I feel only other Penn Staters understand. I also feel horrible for the unthinkable acts that went down to some very innocent children, but after 4 years at Penn State, I owe nearly $100,000 in student loans. I paid for, and received an invaluable education, but I also paid for the prestigious degree from Penn State, that is no longer nearly as prestigious. There is no doubt in my mind that two years ago if there were two identical applicants with the only difference being one went to Penn State and one to Ohio State, the Penn State applicant would win hands down every time, but ask yourself if that is the same today. I do not expect/want a full reimbursement on my tuition, that is simply unrealistic. I am simply stating that what I invested in is no longer worth what it should be due to the fact that certain Penn State officials, including the board of trustees and especially the president, acted selfishly and immorally. If you had the choice to pay $28,000 a year for the degree you had before this scandal, as if the scandal never happened, and $28,000 a year for your current degree after the scandal, which would you choose. To me they are two very different degrees, with two very different values. If there is even the slightest chance that you think you will miss out on a job, promotion, raise, etc. because of association with this scandal or loss of prestige of your degree then you should sign this petition.

  • No Taxation Of E-Commerce In Colorado
The taxing of e-commerce in Colorado, which is under intense debate in the legislature, is a job killer and is driving many large on-line companies to pull out of Colorado or refuse to base their operations or distribution centers here. Very few states attempt to tax e-commerce, knowing that to do so would stifle and restrict growth in an ever more critical area of the US economy.
