  • The Cost of Eating Healthy, Too Expensive!
I try to provide healthy foods for my family, but the cost of fruits and vegetables makes my grocery bill double. I can provide less nutritious foods and save a ton on my grocery bill. If the government is concerned about America's growing weight issues, I believe it needs to start here. It is easy to go to a local fast food chain and feed my family hamburgers for under $4.00, yet one salad alone cost $4.00 to $5.00. The same is our grocery stores. Lets get the attention of our government so that we can eat healthy without breaking our pockets!

  • Stop the sale of high capacity magazines for assault rifles
When I was still in high school the country was rocked by the tragedy of Columbine high school. Now barely thirteen years later Colorado and the country have been shocked by another major mass shooting. Large sporting good retailers like Dick's Sporting Goods carry and sell high capacity magazines for assault rifles. While this petition is not to ban the sale of guns or deny people the right to purchase them. It is about taking measures to help ensure these kinds of terrible events are lessened. Do the American people really need 100 bullet magazines for assault rifles? No, no they don't. These large high capacity magazines were once illegal and should be again. Please help make this happen by signing my petition to tell large sporting retailers like Dick's to stop selling these dangerous items.

  • Put In Safeguards Before the Keystone Pipeline Is Approved.
Although my only involvement in this issue is as a consumer and taxpayer, I believe there should be restrictions agreed to and put in place before any approval process.

  • Student Loaons
When I went to nursing school, I came out with a student loan that caused no hardships to pay it back. Today the fees are so expensive that even if you get a great job, it is taking half your check. A BS is costing approx $300,000 and a lawyer or P.hd, well you could only imagine. You come out of school with almost paying as long as your house payment, and very plush house at that! Student are having to stay with their parent to even afford this outrage. These are student that push them self to exhaustion just to get that degree. Why is the education costing this much? the only answer is greed!

  • News Channels: Give Airtime to Facts, Not Spin
Major news channels are increasingly filled with talking heads, pundits, and representatives from opposing sides. They each offer opinions, out of context "facts", deflect pertinent questions, and basically just defend their stance and attack the other side. I'm so tired of watching politicians and pundits give non-answers and misleading information that I feel I'm not getting any real news from a 24 hour news channel. The news should be based on facts given in correct context. They should rely on neutral, bi-partisan sources that provide all the facts and figures surrounding an issue necessary to provide a complete picture and inform the public. I shouldn't have to search a fact-checking site every time I watch the news, that's their job.

  • You can help save the rights of patients and caregivers to have/give legal, proper, yet easy acce...
In an LA City Council meeting on July 24, 2012, they voted 14-0 to shut down and ban medical marijuana dispensaries, including those that are law-abiding, legally registered shops. "Under the ban, medical patients and their caregivers will be able to grow and share the drug in small groups of three people or less." (Los Angeles Times). Unfortunately, according to one dispensary, maintenance and equipment for growing average about $5,000. Thousands of Angelinos rely on medical marijuana to help alleviate symptoms of weight loss (due to disease or cancer treatments), depression, insomnia, anxiety, stress, and many other ailments. These dispensaries are the source of relief for these people in a society where medicine can cost more than a week's worth in meals. They adhere to strict guidelines and policies as mandated by the city in order to maintain their registry as a caregiver, and are law-abiding businesses. Please sign your name and help this cause. If not for yourself, then for someone you know whose life quality is even just the slightest bit easier through the relief that comes from medical marijuana and the law abiding caregivers that provide them. Thank you.

  • Governor of Texas: Stop All Animal Shelters From Euthanizing Adoptable Animals
I want to see the killing of innocent animals to be stopped in the State of Texas. Animal shelters have become a slaughter house for cats and dogs! I believe if rescues, shelters, and all residents of the great state of Texas work together we can make this happen. Everyone tells me that everything in Texas is bigger and I do believe the hearts of all the residents are very big and they will agree with me! These animals do not have a voice I am going to be their voice and I pray that many other people will also be their voice

  • Legalize Industrial Hemp Farming in Washington
The U.S is the leading importer of hemp. Yet, it is still illegal for farmers in the U.S to produce. You can make environmentally friendly fuels for gas and diesel engines. Hemp fiberboard is four-times stronger than plywood. The paper you produce from it is stronger than paper from trees and recycles better too. One acre of hemp absorbs more greenhouse gases than and acre of trees. The Omega 3s from this plant are in the optimal ratio and hemp food products are excellent in protein. There is no way you can test positive from the hemp food products. The list of uses for this incredible plant goes on and on. In short, our state needs this economic and environmental boost. Let's work together to get this changed.
