Savannah Dietrich Right to Name AttackerSavannah Dietrich is a 17-year-old girl who recently tweeted about being sexually abused and named her attacker. Then, she was threatened with jail time because the attorneys for her attackers said she had violated their privacy. Under a barrage of public criticism, the motion to charge Savannah was dropped, but it's unacceptable that she was ever threatened with jail time just for identifying the who raped her. As a teenager I was violently raped. I remember the physical and mental pain. Internally I was overwhelmed with shame and a sense of being ostracized from family, friends, and society. This period of time was very traumatic. It took many years before I talked about what happened because I was afraid of what people would say. It took an inordinate amount of courage for Savannah to name her attackers in a public forum. She is a hero. Instead of trying to put her in jail, we should support her. Her actions may encourage other young females and males to stand up and name their assailants.87 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Judy Nicole Baird

Tell Us How: Tell Us NowAll of us are barraged everyday by campaign ads from both major parties that are big on hype, but light on substance. Such ads frequently profess to do more and better about major issues such as education, job creation, and Middle East policy, but rarely tell how more and better will be achieved. We're calling on Barack Obama and Mitt Romney to pledge that at least 33% of their television, radio, and web-based ads will include clear and focused explanations of how they will act on major issues.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bob Fecho

End the lawsuit and clean up the watershedThe Democratic Board of Supervisors in Fairfax, VA is suing the federal EPA to forestall requirements to clean up the Accotink watershed. The decision to sue was made in a closed meeting - no sunshine here! While the watershed is an environmental nightmare, the lawsuit is a developer's dream come true!20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Meagher

Support the End Polluter Welfare Act3,215 high-temperature records tied or broken in June, a massive drought across the country, and extreme storms from coast to coast. The weather outside has been scary lately. It is a fact that 9 of the 10 hottest years on record have occurred since 2000. As New York Times columnist Paul Krugman put it, it's clear that "large-scale damage from climate change is no longer a disaster waiting to happen. It's happening now."6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Nancy E. Free

Let's Get Colorado Serious About Climate ChangeFor too long, corporate interests have stalled government progress on the issue of climate change, keeping our representatives from taking action and fully informing the public about this global threat. After the latest batch of wildfires have ravaged Colorado, we can no longer allow this inaction and disinformation to remain steering the public dialog and reactions. For years scientists warned that due to the overly dry conditions in Colorado, our 'table was set' for the brutal wildfire we have faced this year, but still our representatives continue to deny that the climate is making us less safe and much more vulnerable. We need to stand up and demand that our representatives take action to protect the safety of it's people, and they are not doing so by allowing corporate interests to prevent the state from moving on the surrounding issues and threats that climate change has presented across the globe, let alone here in Colorado. We want our elected officials to start introducing bills that will help address the issue of climate change before it is too late. We want regulations put in place, not just on a state level, but for our representatives to start leading others and introduce federal legislation to help ensure the sustainability and safety of the people they represent, and the country they are tasked with protecting.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rob Bowen

President Obama: Address gun control in your campaignI live part-time in Aurora, Colorado and Ottawa, Canada. I was so very sad to hear about the tragic shooting in the cinema and cannot put it, and Columbine, out of my mind. I am residing in Ottawa at the moment and Canadians fail to understand why assault weapons and other guns are allowed to be bought so easily. I would like to call on President Obama and Congress to - once and for all - deal with the issue of gun control.43 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Suzanne Sarkar

Serious Help Needed on Climate ChangeI live in Michigan and the weather here has been devastating...fruit crops have been lost because of the unusually high temperatures in March and freezes in April. We have been dealing with regular temperatures in the 90s and over 100 degrees. There is drought throughout the state. I'm concerned that Congress is not doing enough to address the issue of climate change that no longer is an issue for the future but is an issue that needs to be dealt with now.36 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ann Dunlop

End college tuition nationwideNo one should have to pay to go to college. Treating students as an income source encourages diploma-mill behavior and substandard education, and plunges much of the populace into debt at the beginning of their working lives.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Philip Wilson
