• Negating Trump’s nominations if he is found guilty of crimes
Trump has made and can continue appointments to the courts and other executive actions until an eventual transfer of power, even if he should be found guilty later of sedition or other high crimes. In such circumstances, all of his actions Initiated after his crimes would be tainted by them and therefore must be reversed, even if they have been endorsed by other bodies, such as the Senate. If he assumed office or continued in office because of illegal activities on his part, especially regarding elections, the products of his subsequent time in office, as fruits of those activities, cannot be allowed to stand. Just as RICO laws call for forfeiture of gains obtained through organized crime, this action would call for forfeiture of political gains derived from illegal political activities.

  • Ban Assault Rifles in the Capitol
There is NO need for assault rifles to ever be taken into our Capitol, let alone be brandished for all legislators to see causing some to wear bulletproof vests. Our democracy cannot be run by people whom are in fear. These weapons are designed to do one thing, kill humans. It’s time to put an end to this, and allow our legislators to do their job without the threat of terrorism.

  • The White House must publicly disclose contact tracing for its Supreme Court super-spreader event
In an effort to jam through a Supreme Court nomination one month prior to the election, Donald Trump and Senate Republicans held a celebration in the Rose Garden to announce Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination. With the proliferation of covid cases among attendees, we now know that this was likely a coronavirus super-spreader event. Since this event, Donald Trump and his high-level staff, 3 Senate Republicans, Melania Trump, the Press Secretary, as well as numerous other attendees have tested positive for the coronavirus. Senate Republicans and the Trump administration ignored the severity of this disease and held an event with no masks, no social distancing, and no adherence to CDC guidelines. Their attempt to grab power and use this moment to take away healthcare for millions has led to a further spread of this infectious disease. Instead of admitting the public harm caused by this event and encouraging those who may have been exposed to self-quarantine, Trump and Republicans are attempting to evade public accountability and downplay the reality of how dangerous this event was by refusing transparent contact tracing. This is a clear attempt to hide the recklessness of this administration and Senate Republicans during a global pandemic and is confusing millions of Americans who see that Trump and his political allies put others at risk and undermine public safety measures--including those taken by senior military leaders and public health experts at the CDC. This is unacceptable, and the first step towards accountability, transparency, and protecting anyone who was exposed--from White House staff to journalists to political operatives--is to immediately begin contact tracing, as the CDC recommends, and publicly share the results so that we can all know who has been put at risk due to this superspreader event.

  • Cancel Spectrum & Central Hudson Bills
We, the people of Ulster County, are facing unprecedented economic challenges in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The systems we have operated within have been catastrophically disrupted and, in the process, we’ve seen just how tragically broken they were. Returning to the pre-COVID version of “normal” is not an option. In our society, electricity and internet access are basic needs, especially with many working from and schooling from home. Individuals and families are suffering from the impacts of Coronavirus—lost income, added expenses from being home, and stress from a global pandemic. COVID has hurt small businesses in dire ways. Business has slowed due to life-saving safety measures and illness, which has caused small businesses all across Ulster County to close their doors. Particularly, utility costs are crushing small businesses, causing them to make the horrible decision between making payroll for Ulster County residents and keeping the lights on. Meanwhile, Spectrum and Central Hudson are shutting down people’s service for non-payment. For Spectrum, First-quarter revenues increased to $11.7 billion. Profits reached about $396 million and their CEO made 98 million in 2016 while we struggle. Central Hudson’s parent company Fortis had 2019 revenue of $8.8 billion and total assets of $57 billion as of March 31, 2020. In the first two months of the pandemic, community members rallied around their neighbors experiencing financial hardship, by supporting the Radio Kingston Community Fund and raising over $400,000 to provide emergency financial support. Of these donations, $107,000 went directly to Central Hudson & Spectrum to thwart shut-offs. The people of Kingston cannot allow corporations to profit off our pain. We demand a cancellation of all internet and electric charges for Kingston residents.

  • Candidates Must Publicly Release All Their COVID-19 Test Results To Participate In Debates
Chris Wallace, the moderator of the first presidential debate of the 2020 election, said that Donald Trump was not tested for COVID-19 before participating in the debate because he didn't show up on time. In fact, presidential candidates were accepted on the honor system and were not expected to show their coronavirus tests results to anyone. This is unacceptable and dangerous. Three days after the debate, Trump tested positive for COVID-19, and it's not clear whether he had already been infected at the time of the debate. Despite Trump’s positive test, and hospitalization, Trump nor the White House will release any information about his tests prior to Thursday’s positive test. Including when his last negative test was. And now, Donald Trump, who is currently infected with the coronavirus, is stating that he is ready to debate Joe Biden again. The CDC recommends that anyone who was admitted to a hospital and needed oxygen should stay in isolation for up to 20 days after their symptoms first appeared due to the risk of infection for others and should have 2 negative coronavirus tests in a row to be in the clear. No one should be put at risk again or have their word accepted on the honor system when it comes to a global pandemic, especially after Donald Trump has already potentially exposed numerous people to the coronavirus as a result of his irresponsible behavior. As a safety precaution, the Commission on Presidential Debates, the organization tasked with coordinating the general election debates, must take immediate action to ensure the safety of candidates and everyone attending the upcoming vice presidential and presidential debates. The vice presidential debate is scheduled for October 7, and the two remaining presidential debates are planned for October 15 and October 22. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the debates have become a life-or-death situation. The health of the presidential and vice presidential candidates and the safety of all involved in the debates are on the line. We cannot take this lightly.

  • Shut Down the MIRA Incinerator in Hartford
Burning our garbage is unhealthy, expensive, and unsustainable. So are landfills. False solutions, like pyrolysis or gasification (other ways to burn garbage), waste-to-fuel schemes (WTF), local landfills, or hauling our garbage out of state are not the answer. We support and will work hard with community leaders and residents to implement Zero Waste solutions for Connecticut.

  • Congress MUST secure the election!!!
From Bob Woodward CNN 10/1/2020 Re the elections and U.S. democracy..." But the basic issue is, can you go out and vote in some coherent way? Can there be the high expectation, if not the inevitability, that your vote is going to be counted? The Congress has to do something. They can’t just sit by and say, oh, not our problem … where is the spine and where are the brains and where — sorry to use this, where is the moral compass for the country? Congress has it, and they can do something instantly if they can reach agreement. Good luck.” https://www.rawstory.com/2020/09/bob-woodward-calls-on-congress-to-secure-the-election-against-trump-where-is-the-spine/

  • Financial Aid Qualifications
Thousands of students across America cannot afford college because unless you have a kid or are married, it goes off your parents income until you are 24 EVEN IF you can prove they do not financially support you. The message being sent is for young adults to have kids or get married and this IS WRONG. People should be able to get financial relief who support themselves and want an education.
